Life Hunter BATTLE ARENA General Information The portal opens up into an observation room, and down the stairs, an odd chamber for something like hunter training. At the center of a piranha-filled pool stands a solid stone table and several chairs. The Life Arena was built underneath the demolitions and ballistics testing areas, and the chamber rumbles with the occasional explosions above. Pinpoint red lasers sweep across the room regularly, as if hidden snipers are searching for a nice target. In the center of the table sits a wooden tower, made up of smaller wooden blocks. Yes. That's right. The Life Hunters prefer to train via Jenga.
Note: Distraction techniques and Yo Momma jokes are considered viable weapons when playing competitively.
If you fail: you have knocked down the tower! A small dart hits the back of your neck. You come to several hours later, and hope Dr. H didn't do anything to your body while you were unconscious. When you look into the mirror...
If you win: you have reached 50 points! You get a sharpie marker to do with as you please. peen points go to those with the highest scores.
Mechanics - by carefully removing pieces of the tower, you earn points and advance to the next round. As the rounds continue, the odds grow steadily against you. Rolling a 1 at any point means you have knocked down the tower. Please do enjoy your mystery dart. Anything after reaching 50 points is purely for peen.
- you may roll pieces individually (suggested for group play) or in batches of 5 (basically, a full round.)
Round 1
Pieces: 5 Points per piece: 1 Trainee Roll: 1d10 Life Trainee Roll: 1d12 Hunter Roll: 1d12 Life Hunter Roll: 1d20

Round 4

Well, it was about time to really knuckle down and do these things, he supposed. Jack's mood had, oddly enough, lifted recently. It was one thing to be annoying; it was another to know somewhere out there, he was important enough to be hated. Most excellent.
Rubbing his face and hair, the giant yawned and made his way through the portal, slinging his coat on as an afterthought; it had been clinging halfway to him on the journey over. This would be a productive day, Jack decided, in which he tried a few of the training courses and finally get himself a runic device to carry around.
He nevertheless paused when he entered the chamber. Pirahnas, sniper lasers, and a pool of water? Did he just walk into a remake of a Bond villain hideout? He had to stand there and appreciate the over the top layout for a few moments.

It was super, duper, mega, ultra crazy important to train. It was also more important to be on time. Grumbling and whining to herself as she hustled her way to the portal, Abbi cursed her own want for sleep and penchant for naps. Granted, the time scale she was currently late on was a self imposed one for no one had actually said 'hey you should definitely be at this portal for training at this time', but she had written it down in her planner so it practically the same thing. Except now she was running to get there. Throwing herself throwing the portal with a loud utterance of just how late she was, the teen stumbled partway toward the training course when she instead hit a wall. Oh, no. This wasn't a wall. "Hi Jack!" In an attempt to save what little pride she had, Abbi wrapped her arms the rest of the way around the man in an awkward hug before she scurried off to peer down into the water.
"This place looks crazy, crazy, crazy in your face, all the time! Wow! And you're here to train too? That's cool." Her own attempts to play it cool were coming across as over the top excited, her whole body moving just a bit as she danced from foot to foot by the edge of the area. "So what's up? Anything fun going on in your life as of late?" Well, more so than the fun that was Deus.

With two words, his mood decidedly soured by about 25%. Crazy crazy crazy in your face indeed. Abbi was, as usual, yipping like a puppy and more chipper than he thought people ought to be allowed. Jack gave a long suffering sigh, which counted as a hello in his personal language, as he gave the girl a small pat on the head and approached the mighty Jenga tower awaiting them.
"Not much. Training, reading, pissing people off. The usual," he listed off, surveying the structure before briskly beginning to parse unnecessary parts. "How are your legs?"

A head pat seemed to be the thing to do with Abbi and she accepted it as the best form of affection she'd receive, especially from Jack. With a small laugh she chased after him down the rest of the stairs toward the table with what looked like a Jenga set. Fun! After a decided roll up of her sleeves to show her determination, the teen watch the man move some pieces around like it was no big deal. Lucky punk. "Who did you make mad this time?" He seemed particularly good at upsetting people. Which was unfortunate given how gloomy he always seemed, and by extension, meant the girl would do her best to brighten his mood. And because he always looked so exasperated with her. She just wanted to be friends! Pushing those thoughts away for the time being, the girl managed to extract a few blocks from the tower successfully. Though her own skills weren't so great as Jack's, Abbi had played the game a few times with her step siblings. Just never with lasers... Status Round: 1Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 5

"No-one you know." He was happy to bask in his newfound enemy status alone, thank you; that and he had a feeling giving Abbi any details would result in them being blabbed about, and Jack liked keeping his personal business to himself. "You didn't answer my question," he added with a look, the brief moment of doing so distracting him enough to mess up.
A small dart struck him, eliciting a grumbled curse as a mild sedative ran through his veins. Strike one.

Concentrating heavily on the task at hand, Abbi carefully wiggled out a block before she stood up straight with a sigh that immediately turned into a nose wrinkle at Jack. He was such a butt. "How do ya know I don't know them?" She asked in her best quippy voice that probably sounded more whiney than anything. And he didn't know she would blab! Besides, who was she going to blab to anyway? She really didn't know anyone, but she also didn't know Jack was thinking that. As for his question, she had to think about that and finally with a small noise she remembered what it was he had asked. "Oh! They're fine. I mean, as fine as legs can be after getting desert worm acid sprayed on them." She shrugged and nonchalantly began to pull out pieces. "They uh... They scarred. But... heh... Its not the first scars my legs have seen so yanno. No big, I guess." With a sigh she pulled out two more blocks. "Its not like anyone's gonna see them anyways." He grunted at her question and chose to just drop it; content as he was to have an enemy and a purpose, he was not willing to discuss it with her. Least of all with sniper trained darts on them. "So you are recovering, then. Excellent," he said, taking out another piece.
(( Be more conversational, dear one! She is being nice; offer her something more comforting than that. ))
He grumbled something under his breath as he surveyed the tower, then cast Abbi a glance. "If, ah . . . If the skin gets irritated again, feel free to drop by the labs," he offered. "Though you shouldn't encounter any more problems now that you're back on your feet."

The grunt paired with a cold response made her pout, but as much as she wanted to be upset and guilt him for being so quiet on the matter, Abbi knew this was just the way things were. She sighed and pulled out a piece, dropping it down onto her little pile. It wouldn't matter what she said, Jack was always going to give a too-cool-for-her response. Still pouting she attempted to tease out another block but felt the tower shake and she gave up when something nicked her neck. A brush of the area revealed it was a dart and a small whine was not covered up as she pulled it out. Woaahhh she felt a little woozy... "Yeah." She replied simply with a shrug of shoulders. "They should be ok... The healing faster thing is really nice but if I do need help, I'll make sure to come at a time when you're not working." It was meant as a kindness though she said it softer than everything else. This wasn't really fun anymore, not when she was running out of blocks to take out already. Another one failed to be removed and she felt another stab to her neck and the world began to swim. This was really, really not fun... "Good luck with that. I always find work to do," Jack said with a dry smile as he fiddled with the Tower some more. "It's boring otherwise." Apparently someone did not like one of his choices as he felt another dart p***k him. Ghh . . . He wasn't sure he could handle another one, but they also couldn't leave the training course until either they were knocked out or won. Being tranq'd didn't do wonders for his concentration, though.
He'd already had a fun time being super dosed out in the desert, thanks.
"Be careful. I'm starting to think they like to target us of their own whimsy more than whether we're doing it correctly."

A dry smile flashes at her and Abbi replies to it with a pout and a sigh, frustrated that he would give her advice like that and then practically take it away from her a moment later. Why was he always so mean to her? She hadn't meant to come train when he had so what was the big deal about being a butt? "Guess I just won't go to the labs then." The girl finally mumbled, pulling out a small block. The warning made her pause and reconsider a particular piece, but she seemed to be in their good graces for the moment. "Maybe they just don't like unnaturally colored hair. Its not very professional." Were those shots fired? Status Round: 2Pieces Taken: 2 Total Points: 14+6= 20 2/3 Mistakes!

Not seeing how he was being hostile at all, the comment has him turning his head to give her a look. "Neither are little girls who look and sound like they're still five," he retorted.
(( No, no! Courtesy, Jack, remember courtesy! She is your friend, is she not? ))
Why does everyone keep assuming I want friends?
(( Because you are a very lonely individual, and the people here are kind. ))
Jack rolled his eyes as he carefully slid another piece out. ". . . Sorry," he said in an undertone. "Bad week. Makes me snappy. Haven't had a cup of damn good coffee in forever."

"I look at least fifteen at the worst, and they loved me in the labs!" More or less. She hadn't stuck around for very long, hobbling back to her room as soon as she'd been healed enough to be discharged. In that regard they'd loved her because she'd gotten out of their hair, but Abbi was not so sure everyone there honestly cared for her. Hopefully Jack wouldn't rain on her already gloomy parade by telling her they all hated her. Huffy and upset, Abbi quickly removed five pieces in quick succession, only have the tiniest of trouble with the last one before she dumped them all onto the table with a clatter. Now grumpy she shoved her arms through the other to cross them over her chest, only to drop them a second later when Jack apologized. For all of two seconds she considered what she was going to say before she actually just went ahead and said it. "You're always snappy, especially with me! You don't even like me so why bother?" She frowned down at her feet before adding in a mumble, "I'd beat someone up for a caramel frappucino." Status Round: 3Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 20 +20= 40 2/3 Mistakes!

I'm not that snappy.
Owain made a soft noise in his head.
You're agreeing with her?
(( Oh, no, no, I understand you completely, dear one! However, I believe you do come across as a little . . . ah, intense sometimes. Perhaps you should tone it back? ))
Jack sighed through his nose. "My . . . apologies. I'll beat someone up for you if so," he offered, wondering how someone could look "less intense" when he wasn't even attempting to be, but still trying anyway. "I'll take down a squad for a cup of straight up black coffee, honestly. I don't like things that are too sweet."
That . . . would honestly explain a lot of other things in his life, actually.
Jack surveyed the tower and swiftly pulled out a handful of pieces, rolling them around in his hands with a satisfied look. "You'd probably do better charming someone instead of using violence, however."
