Azriel laughed at something one of the men was telling him and he nodded in agreement. It was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the virtual city that had sprung up around the Pantheon. Even with the obvious desolation of the city, it was rather peaceful than sad. Pouring out a second mug of tea, he wandered over to where Talia was sitting and he took a seat beside her.
"How are you doing?" he asked as he offered her the extra mug.

Talia would agree with the thought that it was peaceful. It was silent, the air was clear, as was the sky. She looked up at the stars and studied them. They were different from her's, she could not pick any constellations out. She looked away from the pinpricks of light as Azriel joined her and smiled.
"Good. Missing the kids but it's quite nice on the road." She took the mug from him and cupped it in her hands.

Az smiled and nodded.
"It is too bad you could not bring them along. I bet they would have enjoyed the space to run around," he grinned and sipped his tea. "Though I think you made the right choice to leave them with Maia. She seemed quite taken with them."

"They would love it out here. I'll have to bring them now I know how to get here." She blew on the hot liquid before taking a sip. "I didn't want to leave her alone there. I don't care what you and Isambard say, it's not right for a girl to be in a place like that. Regardless of how well they look after her."

Az smirked at her comment and lifted his shoulder.
"I never said it was right for her to be there. Just that it would be safe. Elora is djinn like Cyrus. She would not let anything happen to her. She has a soft spot for young girls. A need to keep them safe if you will."

Talia snorted with laughter.
"Then why does she enable them to sell themselves? That's not something women choose to do. She could help them get skills, get proper employment. If she really cared about them." She raised an eyebrow.

Az smirked at her laughter and shook his head.
"I don't know. I never stopped to ask her about her life's choices. Perhaps you could when we return," he challenged lightly with another smirk. "And who's to say she isn't teaching them skills to get themselves out of that situation?"

Talia rolled her eyes and took another sip of the tea.
"Sucker for a pretty face aren't you?" She said with a smirk. "She's got half the men in the town round her little finger, which is of course the point. It's interesting."

Az smirked and watched her roll her eyes. He couldn't deny that was true. Though beauty was subjective.
"Sure, she has a pretty face, but there's something there that I like to keep my distance from," he smirked and nodded over towards Cyrus. It was no secret that the massive djinn was Elora's lover. Though there was more to his hesitance than the large man. There was a calculating look in her eyes that he could both appreciate and suspect in the same turn. He had made his mind up early to keep her at a safe distance. "It's not surprising at all that she has half the men wrapped around her fingers. Though believe me, I am not one of them."

Talia followed his eyes to Cyrus. The large man scared her more than a little, he was unreadable and rather intimidating.
"No? Because he'd crush your bones into powder?" She teased, nodding at the large djinn.

Az laughed and nodded.
"I happen to like my bones as they are, thank you," he grinned and sipped his tea.
"I hope that we finish this journey in time to help Maia's people," he said quietly, his mood turning a bit more serious. "Can you believe they have been stuck out there for so long with no outside contact? They must have thought they were the only ones left."

"Yes, i do too. I hope I can help them. I imagine they will be malnourished mostly which can be taken care of. I have some antibiotics which might also help if there are diseases." She shook her head. "I really hope we are not too late, the girl woud be devastated."

Az smiled and watched the firelight dance across her face.
"You really care for the girl, don't you? That's something I admire greatly in you Tal. How deeply and quickly you care," he smiled warmly. "If it's the worst case scenario, what do you think will happen to Maia?"

"I'm a doctor, it's my job to care for people." If she didn't what was the point there was no money in it any more. "I will take her in, I have room and I could do with an assistant. That's if she'd want to learn my trade. Even if she doesn't she can live with me."

Az smiled softly and continued to watch her. He suspected even if she weren't a doctor, she would feel and think the same. This was what separated her miles apart from someone like Elora. Sure, Elora was strikingly beautiful, but Talia had so much more.
"Would you like to go for a bit of a wander before we settle in for the night?" he asked.
