So... I think that the time has come to start looking around. I think you all know what it is that I'm referring to. I've just about had it with Gaia, and have stewed on it long enough that it's time to consider expanding. Not immediately, but the time has indeed come to seek out another home for the Disciples, but at least until further notice we will still be in business here as well. The problem is this... I'm having a hard time finding another site that offers guilds. By guilds, I mean user-run mini-forums (with or without sub-forums as an option) that any user can obtain, if they like. I have a few stipulations. I want a site that is free to play, an avatar site, and forum-based. As I said, I (and by I, I mean Jessie) has searched but to no avail. Any information that you may have or find and provide would be greatly appreciated.

You know that Syn has forums for RP'ing. It's not guilds but we can still RP there. I am doing it now with DLS, It works and their rules aren't bad. You are there and so is Jessie. Try it and see how you like RP'ing on Syndrone. And I for one cannot stand Solia.. I have tried and that site is just not for me. I am hating everything about that site except the avatars.. I do RP there a bit, but there is no way for users to create a real cohesive community that does anything other than have one singular conversation. Threads just are not guilds, whatever the purpose. And I understand that it's new and still finding its feet, but... You can tell a good bit about a site's aesthetics by how the designers and owners look. Krank is a ******** disaster. He is the biggest eye-sore that I have ever seen in an admin. It looks like a rainbow drank color-safe bleach and vomited on him. Thank Orcus for dyable items, or we'd all no doubt look like we fell out of a rave. And another thing. I don't care for the ways discussions are locked in their version of SF. He speaks his piece and then locks it up. Conversation over, whether or not the user had more points to raise. It leaves a bad taste. Syndrone is nice, and all. The dyables were a brilliant idea and the people are nice, but my home will be a guild. A collection of threads. Nothing else will do. Syndrone has until March, a good six months from when I joined to make those. I have my doubts that it will. It was a good way to wean myself off of Gaia but that might be all it gets to be, in the end.

Actually I had Jess look into it... She couldn't find guilds, in fact. So Solia is out. Krank has so much stuff piled on, it's impossible to discern any gender. Honestly even without that, the design follows scene fashion pretty closely, even beneath the clothes. It doesn't take more than pulling on a t-shirt, jeans, and assigning facial features to complete the emaciated, young, and troubled look. It goes well beyond androgyny. The point is, I'd like a lot less scene. It was bearable in the late 90s/early aughts, only in that it was everywhere, but it was never tasteful and hasn't even been fashionable in over a decade. It's early Gaia, alright, and all that came with it, even the unfortunate signs of the times. Also, I know why they said "No, for now" to guilds. And I don't even disagree. It would be better for them to wait. But "No, for now" isn't "Almost certainly, later," and I don't intend to wait forever. So we'll see what there is to be found.

Also, exactly zero of the sites I've been to have had any kind of guild system, from what I saw. You may be waiting awhile, sir...
I might know of Ragnarok debaters, its not quite Customizable-Avatar driven, but its a good place to regroup until a new home can be found. Plus the community is actually really reasonable as not only is everyone family, but the Community is the top priority there.
