When Tania was exploring the outside of her new father's home, she spotted a woman in the garden. Who was that, Daddy's servant? Was Daddy rich enough to have a servant? She didn't know. She had never asked him. Whoever the woman was, the shadow mew was determined to frighten her. She had frightened an espeon girl earlier in the day, and that had amused her immensely--until the girl seemed to get upset. She hadn't meant to upset her: scaring was fun! She was sure being scared was almost as much fun as scaring.

"Boo!" She shouted, leaping out into the garden. It was harder to hide in this form. She was a lot bigger! "Hi, I'm Tania. Who are you? Did I scare you? I did, didnt I?"

Tania beamed. She had scared someone after all! Both of them! "Good. I'm very scary," she said, "That was only an example of my less scary scaryness. I can be much scarier!" She hadn't tried to use those skills. The skills she was sure she possessed, somewhere deep inside of her.

"Hi Calantha, hi Serenity! Do you want to scare people with me? I've scared three people today! It was great!" She beamed. "Want to play? You just have to say boo! Its very easy. And people go ahh!"

"Scare Daddy?" Tania pondered this, before shaking her head. "No, I'm Daddy's helper!" She said. "I can't scare him!" Well, she could, but what if Daddy got angry? What if he decided he didn't want her anymore? Though the mew would never admit it, she did worry that Grayson would eventually lock her out, like her first father had. She worried that she would upset him, and he wouldn't want her to be his helper anymore.

"No," she decided, "I'll scare you instead! BOO! See, I'm so scary, I can scare you twice! Or three times. I can sneak lots of Boo!s into this conversation." The mew girl giggled. n

Tania's expression wavered. Her lip trembled for a brief moment, but then her eyes hardened. "I'm not worried!" She snapped. "Just because Dadd--Urban threw me out with no where to go for no reason doesn't mean my new Daddy will!" Unless she did something to upset him. She was sure Grayson would be fair: after all, he tolerated that noisy celebi. Surely Brenny was more trouble than she ever could be!

"He won't?" She asked, softening. It was the first time she had opened up, even slightly, about her fears. "No matter what?"

Tania pulled away, shaking her head. She wasn't sure she was ready to trust anyone like that. Trust someone not to give up on her, or someone to want her even after a mistake. "You're sure?" She asked hesitantly. She had thought she knew Urban, too. He had read her bedtime stories; he'd tucked her in. He'd taken her shopping. Something had gone terribly wrong. Tania wasn't sure what it was, but surely it was covered in her question.

"You promise he won't? No matter what happens? I think something bad happened to make Papa get rid of us. He lovked us out of the apartment and said to go away. I was so mad! I'm still mad. But I'm sad, too..."

The mew girl seemed to brighten at Callie's words. She moved to wrap her arms around her, and smiled. "I like hugs," she said. "I wouldn't mind getting a lot of them." It was something she would have to adjust to, the big family. But so far, the only playmate she had had was Karma, and they got along splendidly. Tania had adopted zher as her sister immediately.

"Want to play?" She asked. "We can scare other people. Just not Daddy."

A game that didn't involve scaring people? That didn't sound like much fun. Well, she supposed there was one game she was rather good at... "Let's play hide and seek!" She exclaimed. "You hide first if you want to. Or I can hide. But if I hide, I'll want to shout boo if you get too close. That's fun. I used to do that with my brother, Tristan." She smiled at the memory.
