Nadhiri was seeking her future. Armed with only her practice spear and with a sling of travel supplies hanging from her back, the Alkidike left Jauhar behind. The rainforest slowly gave way to grasslands and then sand, the terrain hot and stony beneath her bare feet. The prentice kept up a constant stride, never faltering. She had failed to prove herself once before. Now she would venture forth on her own and show that she was worthy of being a warrior. By the time night fell, Nadhiri was limping. The short battle with Witu had seen her as a winner, but the beast had gotten a good bite to her leg. With a hiss of pain she lowered herself down on a rock, using the last of the light to inspect the wound. How pathetic. She’d just gotten to Tale and now she would have to go back. There was no point in losing a foot because she’d forgotten medical supplies. Using some of her water, she washed the puncture wounds clean.

The night had snuck up on her. San'thari was in that kind of trance as she gathered herbs she knew helped things such as pain, infection, fevers. She wasn't practicing per say, she just had the experience to figure out what plants worked best and what didn't. No one really taught her. She learned by applying what she'd seen and heard from groups of travelers, as well as experimenting on her own. San got injured enough that she needed to keep a ready supply of leaves with her that she ground down into a paste. Sighing slowly, the woman raised her arms above her head, groaning as she stretched out. Hunching over to get these leaves were hard on your back, especially when you did it for a few hours comparing and contrasting properties of different things. With the last stack of leaves bound by how much pain they helped numb, San finally got to her feet and headed back where she set up camp. On her way back, however, she spotted another girl up on a rock. Frowning, San watched what she was doing and then tilted her head as she got a flash of what looked like a wound on the other's leg? Moving over silently, she put her hands up in a manner to show she wasn't armed before she spoke. "Do you need help?" Direct and to the point, like always.

Nadhiri had already noticed the presence of another; her warrior skills at least not failing her in that regard. Stopping her ministrations, she sat as still as soon and when it looked at though the other girl was not going to keep walking in a different direction, casually picked up her spear. The Alkidike stood slowly, weapon loose but ready. She was standing with one foot slightly raised, keeping her wound away from the ground and balancing all her weight on one side. There was obvious distrust in her stern features and she stared back at San’thari with the promise of violence if she tried anything funny. "I’m fine," she responded curtly.

Fine? Hardly. San'thari might be distant, but that didn't mean she hadn't noticed how the other was favoring that foot. Hands were held out, showing she had no weapon and she tried to get her face to loosen up to something resembling a smile. It wasn't as though she knew how to fight anyway. "I was gathering plants for different medications. You're favoring your foot. Let me see what I can do." She moved her hands to the pouch at her hip and showed her different piles of leaves she'd somehow strung together. With that, the short one moved closer, allowing the other to see exactly what she had. Some were well known for fighting pain. "I won't hurt you unless it's absolutely necessary. By that I mean digging out a thorn, or pushing poison from the wound if you've been poisoned." She was assuming here, since San'thari really didn't know what had happened.

At first the Alkidike said nothing at all, simply watched with a suspicious frown, but she was silently measuring her next choice. If it had been a male that had approached her, she would rather have had her foot fall off than have him touch it, but this was different. The wound in her foot twinged with pain and she fought the urge to wince. "I was bitten," she said finally. Nadhiri lowered herself carefully back onto the rock, placing the spear on the ground beside her. "If you help me, I will repay you."

When the other sat back down, San'thari took that as permission to move closer. Her fingers gripped the other's ankle lightly to examine the bite mark and internally winced. Bites were bad because you got the bruise right on top of the wound, which was added pain. Settling onto her knees comfortably, San pulled that bag off her hip and into her lap to find the right mixture of herbs. Her face was completely stoic as she sorted and pulled leaves and roots, maybe even a little wrinkle in her brow. "I do not require payment of any kind. I'm aspiring to be a healer." This was practice on someone other than herself for a change. "What bit you?"

"A Witu," Nadhiri answered as she watched the other girl prepare her healing plants. To have found an aspiring healer just when she needed one seemed a great stroke of luck. Perhaps this way she wouldn't have to return home at all. "I will still be in your debt." Not a situation she liked, especially with a stranger, but she would bear it.

A Witu. With that information, she took a deep breath and bit down on her lip as she continued to get the herbs ready. Her hands were shaking a little as it finally sank in that this was the first time she was going to be doing this for someone other than herself, but it needed to be done. There were dangerous things around here and with an injury, San'thari doubted this other girl could actually outrun them. "Don't thank me yet," she murmured softly. Sand colored hands just worked some of the herbs into a paste and nodded before sighing. "It might sting." With that, she started to smear some of the paste on the bite mark and waited for the flinch, hiss, or complaint, but still worked.
