- Character Personality Aeschylus is an extremely self-centered and conceited person. He feels superior to the other Captains due to his mass amount of knowledge and his years of wisdom. Furthermore, he is manipulative using coercion to keep anyone around him under his control. In every room, he is the smartest man in the room, ready to react in an instant. A tactician of the mind, Aeschylus knows when to engage or avoid an engagement. Furthermore, he is a machiavellian, meaning that he believes that having power is justification for actions. He is silver-tongued, meaning he is a master of code-switching to the audience he speaks to. But, with his masterful silvertongue, he is charismatic and enlightening to speak to. Life as a Human
Aeschylus was born the 25th day of December in 1260 BCE (Before Common Era) in the city of Troy to the Trojan people, in Northwest Anatolia or modern-day Turkey. This was actually the year of the start of the famous Trojan War between the Aegean Greeks and the Trojans. Growing up in the middle of a war was something that inevitably would harden Aeschylus to grow up and skip that of childhood, as maturing would become a harsh reality. By the time he had turned 10 years of age, his father had already began training him for battle. There were whispers that their great wall, the Trojan Wall might one day fall. Every day, the sound of catapults launching boulders that crashed against the walls could be heard. It was clear that time was slipping slowly. By the age of 15, in 1245 BCE, Aeschylus had signed up with the Trojan army. He was ready, ready to give those b*****d Greeks the lesson they deserved! He had been brainwashed with the nationalist doctrine of the Trojan people, that the Aegean Greeks lead by Agamemnon were a bunch of savages who sought to rape their women, soil their fields, burn down their city, and enslave them all.
Troy's invasion had then suddenly come to a halt on Aeschylus's 18th birthday. The year was 1242 BCE, and for the Trojans, the silence was both welcomed and feared. The Aegeans were out of ammunition! They were low on supplies and the time to strike back was now! Aeschylus under his leader Paris, had been assigned to strike at the army under the legendary Achilles. Running with a loud battle roar, "Hyueahh!" Aeschylus and his detachment rushed at Achilles's army directly. Swinging his Trojan sword around with skill, Aeschylus easily cut into three of the Aegeans. They fell lifeless, blood covering Aeschylus's golden armor. Then he was there. The one and only almighty Achilles, wielding his great spear. Immediately, Aeschylus began to feel intimidated by Achilles's appearance and fear overcame him. Backing away, he raised his shield to parry a quick frontal flurry of spear jabs aiming for vital openings in Aeschylus's defense. Aeschylus then slid to the side and slashed his blade down, only to be parried by Achilles's spear, which then ripped into Aeschylus's armor, penetrating his right shoulder. "Damn you Achilles!" Aeschylus cried, as he rolled back, freeing himself from the spear and then running to seek help. Aeschylus then was joined by two elite Trojan warriors who began to slash at Achilles on two sides, Aeschylus then jumping up and slashing his blade directly for Achilles' helm. It struck, clearly knocking Achilles to the ground by surprise, who then stabbed one of the elite Trojans in the heart, ripping it out and then rushing for the other. At this point, Aeschylus had not been paying attention to his surroundings and his army had been annihilated. Retreating back to the gate with the other Trojans, the battle had been a severe loss.
The following year 1241 BCE was one that was horrible. Many of the warriors had been sick, having caught an unknown plague. They were also exhausted from battle and wanted the war to end. The Aegeans cut off the major supply lines that were going in and out of Troy. In response, the Trojans quickly began rationing food, knowing they could last another year at the least before a panic over the food supply would set in. Then something strange happened. A massive horse made of wood had arrived at the gates and a single Aegean had declared their surrender. Being that everyone really wanted the war to end, they naively let the horse inside the gate, deep in the center of the city. Then as the day turned to night, the Trojans were in a state of merrymaking. After all, they won the war! Or so, they thought. Bursting from all sides of the horse, two-hundred Aegean soldiers had rushed outward setting fire to homes and striking down women and children. The guards were too slow to reach the armory and were cut down one by one. Four Aegeans had managed to get to the gate controls and opened the gate, letting in the remainder of the Aegean army. It was a matter of hours before the battle reached its height, where Aeschylus was backed into a wall, fending off one-hundred Aegean soldiers. He swung his blade bravely and hacked down five of them, then another five. Then he felt a sword gash his shoulder, followed by two arrows hitting his right side. He felt nothing, all he knew was to keep swinging and not giving them an inch. "Enough! This one... is mine!" Achilles's voice had called, as the Aegean warriors moved aside. At this point, Aeschylus was running pure willpower and began to feel dizzy from the loss of blood and the pain of his wounds. His raised his sword, and stood strong, as Achilles ran forward, spear ready to strike. Then Achilles skewered him into the wall, directly into his stomach. He coughed blood, but smiled as he gripped the spear with his left hand, pulling Achilles closer to him. Pull. Pull. Pull. It started to become black, as Aeschylus then dug his sword deep into Achilles's chest. He then closed his eyes, allowing death to take him, falling lifeless on Achilles.
Spirit Life
The original Soul Society had been lead by the first Gotei 13 but was rather decentralized and weak. Due to the barbaric society that was humanity, prior to civilized society, Shinigami had barely any way of safely guiding souls to Soul Society. In fact, it was apparent that hollows were the dominant force throughout the Human World, having been growing in power due to the lack of souls being guided to Soul Society. At the battlefield that Aeschylus's soul chain of fate had been bound to, there was about one-hundred hollow running around gobbling up souls and creating more hollows there. Short on active Shinigami to help guide souls in the local area, there was only one Shinigami in the area, who just happened to be by Aeschylus. That Shinigami had then performed the konsō or soul burial on Aeschylus, sending him directly to Rukongai. By this time it was the year 1240 BCE, and essentially, Aeschylus was an extremely young Shinigami soul at the age of 20. However, there was something rather unique about Aeschylus, he had massive spiritual pressure which at this time was something that was both good and bad. It attracted attention, which for Aeschylus was rather unwanted.
It was bad news, because the original Gotei 13 did not have a system for recruitment back then. Instead, those with massive spiritual pressures were deemed threats to the safety of Soul Society and were imprisoned in the first level of the Maggot's Nest until they really could come up with something to do with them. Naturally, however the Maggot's Nest was becoming the prison for Soul Society, for those who committed crimes as Shinigami and as souls within Soul society. Killers, thieves, and the like were beginning to enter the Maggot's Nest and soon, Aeschylus had been forgotten, but this was not new to the many other highly spiritually-powered souls within the Maggot's Nest. They were trapped indefinitely prior to Aeschylus and had spent hundreds of years there themselves, some even a couple thousand. For Aeschylus, he would spend the next 2,000 years (743 CE) learning the stories of Shinigami who were pure evil and how they hated the Gotei 13 for imprisoning them. He heard stories of those who were wrongly imprisoned for their high-level spiritual pressure as well, just like him. In order to keep his sanity, he practiced hakuda from many of the criminals that he had developed bonds with. Despite the Seki Seki Stones sapping spiritual pressure throughout the Maggot's Nest, there was one cell in particular that was less effected. Aeschylus had then began to practice manipulating his spiritual pressure there.
It wasn't for another 500 years the year now being 1243 CE, that the Gotei 13 had been officially created. And they then went to the Maggot's Nest to search for potential members to attend their great Academy. Of course, finding Aeschylus they realized that he deserved to be freed after having been wrong for a good 2,500 years of his life. He joined the Shinigami Academy and immediately began training. He aced every single class, top of his class, especially in Kidō. It was clear, that he had a particular affinity for Kidō. They would then promote him to Lieutenant of the 12th Division right away. As there was already a 12th Division Captain at that time. Of course, now that Aeschylus had a taste for power, he wanted that 1st seat. He wanted to kill the 12th Division Captain and he would spend the next thousand years preparing in wait. He divided his time of course however, to seven-hundred years training his Kidō and three-hundred years training his bankai. He already had above Captain-level spiritual pressure. He was more than capable. The only thing standing in his way was the man who had the position, a man who showed weakness, a man who was going to die.
Becoming the 12th Division Captain
Aeschylus had been waiting for this day. The day that he would kill his Captain, whom he made believe wholeheartedly that Aeschylus was happy being the Lieutenant. That Aeschylus was loyal to the Captain and the 12th Division. He was wrong. "Captain Ishitu! I, Aeschylus Lieutenant of the 12th Division, hereby challenge you for your position!" Members throughout the division had come out in shock and in excitement. A duel between members of the same division was something that was truly exciting! "Aeschylus, what are you doing? Come on. This is stupid." Captain Ishitu had explained, attempting to avoid this fight. "No, Ishitu. You're weak and your methodology as the Research Division specialist... is pathetic." Aeschylus stated extremely cold. Ishitu then unsheathed his zanpakuto and began to state his incantation. "Bring chaos to the world, R-" "Carriage of Thunder, walls of sand, a priestly pagoda, with light divide this into six! Way of Binding: No. 61 Six Rods of Prison Light, Way of Binding No. 75 Quintet of 1 Kan Iron Pillars!" Instantly, Ishitu was bound by six prisms of light and then five yellow orbs had flew upwards from Aeschylus, proceeding to then form five iron pillars that crashed around Ishitu, further binding him. "Way of Binding: No. 63 Locking Bondage Stripes. Way of Binding No. 79 Nine Sunlight Traps." A golden striped chain bound strong around Ishitu, followed by the eight black holes, with one inside of Ishitu. " Begone with the darkness!" Aeschylus began, continuing, "Seeping crest of turbidity. Arrogant vessel of lunacy! Boil forth and deny! Grow numb and flicker! Disrupt sleep! Crawling queen of iron! Eternally self-destructing doll of mud! Unite! Repulse! Fill with soil and know your own powerlessness! Way of Destruction: No. 90 Black Coffin!" A massive fully-powered Black Coffin formed around Ishitu, imploding and fully lacerating to a bloody finish. Ishitu was slaughtered. After the attack finished, Ishitu had died. Aeschylus turned to the division members staring at him in fear, and yelled, "Well? Kneel you fools! I am your God now." They knelled immediately. Aeschylus then became the 12th Division Captain.
