Chel decided that Jack was interesting enough to make a friend out of. At least, she wanted to get to know him better. She'd definitely picked up that Nevada made shifty eyes at him, but she knew nothing of the whole ordeal, so as far as she was concerned, Jack was fair game for friendship.

While most hunters were walking off a hangover, Chel was actually doing pretty well. She'd escaped with the pretty brunette before anything alcoholic had happened. Admittedly, she sort of wished she'd grabbed something for a little buzz before leaving, but such was life.

She found the hulking mass of Jack in the labs, but considering she had zero idea how the labs worked, she had no idea what he was doing. It didn't stop her from prodding though. "Eyyy Beanstalk. What's up?"

Pro: he'd managed to ward off being hungover. Con: noises were still louder and lights were still brighter than necessary.

He'd opted for ear plugs just in case someone came to bother him, which was in the realm of possibility given who he was . . . What should he call them really? They would would likely insist on "friends" while he would go for something along the lines of "consistent grievances given flesh". And after telling Abbi not to get in trouble, he was ready to be greeted by one teary-eyed moon hunter ready to wail about her latest problem like he was a social media site.

Instead, he got one cheery Sun.

Jack had been hunched over a thick binder and squinting when Chel greeted him, and his reaction was delayed by a few seconds. "What d'you want," he said more than asked, his voice gravelly, his eyes still scanning the report. He hadn't quite registered it was Chel, just that it was familiar and too bright to look at.

"Woooah someone's got and itty bitty hangover, don't he," she chided, closing in on him in the labs. "Tell me you at least held your liquor down, bro." If not, that'd be embarrassing.

She glanced around the labs, feeling pretty out of place. She didn't like the stuffy, sterile environment, and it was probably pretty apparent. Above all else, Chelsea hated needles. The labs reminded her of needles.

Finally close enough to lean on a counter and have a conversation, she said, "What's up, doc?"

He paused when she leaned on his counter, then plucked an ear plug out and squinted somewhere to the left of her. There were the beginning of rings under his eyes. "Albuquerque is elsewhere," he grumbled back, briefly defying his role as culture fool by understanding a pop culture reference.

(( Oh, it is that one! What is her name again? What was it you called her at the party? That was her name, was it not? ))

Jack winced and rubbed at his head, shushing the giant. "Reading, if your eyes have stopped working. You left your hat at the party, by the by."

"Ohh hun," she said knowingly, "Did you want a backrub or anything? That s**t sucks." Chel was here to help.

Hat? What h- "Oh yeah. Sorry about that dude. Keep it or give it back, I don't care. I bullied it off of some nerd trainee."

"Mm." He regarded the space next to her for a moment, mildly surprised by the offer, and then he rubbed at his eyes with another wince. "If you're any good at them, by all means," he replied, making a vague gesture for her to have at it. "If you're a coffee drinker, I'm also going to go brew some in a while on a gas stove, as compensation. Or I'll try my luck on the ******** beach, I don't know. Weird s**t pops up there all the time."

Jack made a disgruntled noise as spots flooded his vision upon opening his eyes. "What're you doing here anyway? Shouldn't you be waking up next to your lesbian lover?"

"Can't reach them tall shoulders," she said with a laugh, gesturing to a nearby lab stool. "Coffee sounds good, I haven't eaten yet."

Ooh. Cross Jack was so very entertaining. She felt terrible for him, but at the same time it was kind of nice to see the cocky smile wiped off his face.

"Already did," she boasted. Chel wasn't insecure about her relationship at all. What could you expect when the girl ran around kissing anyone relatively attractive? No doki-doki blushing here- Nevada was the schoolgirl, that was for sure. "

Lazily slapping the binder closed, he rolled his shoulders and then his head, several pops being his reward. "Good t'know, I guess," Jack said, scratching at the fuzz forming along his jaw. Christ, did everyone but him get some on his own damn birthday? "I distinctly remember you mentioned sharing at the tournament. Wondering if that offer still stands?"

With Jack's a** on the stool, Chelsea laughed and placed her hands gingerly on his shoulders. Damn this was a nice set of shoulders. "Yo take it easy. You can't push a hangover away, it's gotta be convinced."

With that advice, she began kneeding his shoulders oh-so gently. "As for sharing, you'll need to take that up with the missus. I don't mind, but well- I'm player 2 now, you know?"

Jack had to at least have gotten that reference. "I'm suprised your stubble isn't green too," she teased.

He rolled his eyes, then instantly regretted it. "Who has time to dye that?" Well, if he had to go bother Nevada, he wouldn't miss the opportunity; but he also wasn't stupid enough to bother jumping into the middle of whatever the ladies had going on. Not without bribe material: like alcohol. Maybe.

For now, though, time to relax~ Although even Jack's version of "relaxed" still involved sitting straight and having tensed shoulders.

"Really though, what's the occassion for visiting? The labs are usually meant for work one way or another."

Chel straightened out some of Jack's unruly hairs, only to find them springing back into place. Damn that ridiculous hair of his.

"Mm?" Chel squeaked, hand moving back to massage Jack more fully. Yikes those knots were deep. Just what had he been doing to work himself up so much? Maybe he'd been hunched over the lab bench too long ...

"Can't a girl just visit a-" She looked at him expectantly, not that he could see it, "Friend?" Ehh? Ehhhh?
PostPosted: Tue Nov 05, 2013 9:50 pm

". . . 'Friend'. Wasn't aware of that development," he muttered, his eyes falling closed as Chel really began to work his back. Having been unaware of how rigidly he held himself all the time, it was strange to feel his muscles burn and loosen. "Not half bad at this, though. Let me guess: I'm not the first one who's been complimented with a massage."

Chel frowned a little at his rejection (?) of her friendship. Well that was a bummer. It just meant she had to work harder... right?

"No Jack. Never have mine hands touched another soul upon the shoulders, lest I sink into a sinful oblivion of brimstone and fire," she said dramatically, throwing her head back even. She then broke into a smile and said, "'Course I have. Not like backrubs are a ********' rarity. You're the first at Deus though, how about that?"

Chel felt bad for giving him flack. "You want me to turn off the lights or anything? You seem more than a bit hungover dude. Something happen at the party last night? You get bad touched while dancing, man?"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 05, 2013 10:24 pm

He snorted, unable to see her theatrics but able to picture them through her words. "They are rare for me, clearly," Jack pointed out, grunting as she hit a particularly sensitive spot around a shoulder blade. "But don't bother with the lights; pain's what keeps me awake. Well, pain and coffee." His body was in need of sleep; therefore, he had to deny it as punishment.

"Nothing much happened after you left, honestly. Just a few insect problems." And one blonde little bug. But he kept it short because his head was starting to throb now that he had no distractions to tear his mind off his own body.

Chel frowned. "No offense dude, but that is nooot a healthy way to live." She eased up when she heard his grunt, trying not to injure him in the process of making him better.

"Ah, more of those bugs eh? Nevada shot one down before we left. Creepy things." She didn't really want to think about it.

Looking once more to the light switch, Chel said, "Hey what about this. I'll turn off the lights, then we'll sit on the ground and you can lay down and get some Z's. If anyone comes by I'll ward 'em off."
