The day was warm - like usual lately - and being indoors had been too stuffy. So she'd gone outside to do a little training, letting her mind think over things she normally just shoved to the back. Like the ridiculous giddy feeling she had when she thought about Finn. And how strange it felt to have someone she liked as much as she did him. Then there was the constant thoughts over the tournament that hadn't been too long ago. She and Vashi had talked over each battle and worked out where she needed more improvement.
So, they trained a little more thoroughly on top of their other duties. And when Finn wasn't stealing her attention. Like today. When she felt muscles begin to ache, Fini decided that was enough for now, and headed back to the dorms for a cold shower in the dark (mostly). God, it would be really nice to have portals back up and running. And power back!
She swore, the second portals were up, she was taking a much needed trip to replenish supplies and get away from this bleak and gloomy place.
Goosebumps broke out over her skin as she finished rinsing out her hair and the sun trainee quickly dried off, squeezing as much water out of her hair as possible before pulling on jeans and a batman t-shirt. Her bathroom supplies were collected and carried back to her room, where she brushed out her hair a little before toweling it dry a little more. Satisfied it was as good as it was going to get, she pulled socks on and went in search of any MRE's that might be in the common areas. Not that she was looking forward to this.
But she never made it to the commons, finding herself pausing by a doorway and staring curiously. Chewing on her lower lip while she debated on a course of action, Fini finally stepped up and lightly knocked on the door frame to the other hunters room. "Hey there! Alaska, right? Mind if I come and visit?" She had wanted to meet the other woman outside of a battle! Now was her chance!

It was warm weather again, which meant she had yet another excuse to go out and play basketball in between training sessions. As much as she liked to say she was smart and preferred to think things through, far too often it was easier and preferable to smash things senselessly. Perhaps that was why the island had placed Alaska in the sun division place. Even with her sunshine childhood, they’d somehow known that the life of a perfect-all-around girl was not the life for her. She didn’t know if she could’ve stood to live the life of a company employee or lawyer or doctor or whatever her father originally wanted her to be, but here as a hunter was fine. It was enough for her.
It was enough, she said. And if she said it enough times, Alaska knew it would come true. Humans had a way with wish-fulfillment and deluding themselves. She would make herself start over; build herself back from the bottom up. She had to start from the beginning—and perhaps that was why she abandoned her usual hairstyle. The raven locks and colored streaks were the same, but it was closer to Nevada’s now. The front was the same, but Alaska had short locks instead.
But considering portals were down, the dye was beginning to fade, much to her chagrin. Soon as portals went back up, Alaska was going to dig up some more bottles of dye. One of the few guilty pleasures she indulged in. Crinkling her nose and sighing, she ran a hand through her hair while walking back to her room after playing basketball by herself for an hour. The rubber ball tucked underneath one arm, she came across a light-haired sun trainee knocking outside her door.
“Fini, right? Sure, I don’t mind,” she shrugged, walking forward to push in the key and flick the door open. She gestured with her free hand for the other sun hunter to walk in. “Something on your mind or whatever?”

She was only slightly startled when the occupant of the room showed up behind her instead opening the door. But Fini was all friendly smiles and stepped back enough to allow Alaska access to her room. "Yeah, I'm Fini." She nodded, gaze briefly flickering to the basketball under the other trainees arm. A small grin flashed along her features before she was following her into the room. Apparently basketball was more popular than she'd first thought.
"Oh no, nothing like that!" Fini quickly held up her hands in the universal sign of 'innocence'. "I actually had been meaning to stop by and properly greet you." She said a little sheepishly, a hand running through her hair. "Y'know, when we're not stuck battling one another?"
Or with a peanut gallery shouting things. And being obnoxious.
"So... let's start over. I'm Fini, fellow sun trainee. I've met your twin, and she spoke quite fondly of you." She added. Syusaki I AM SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG QnQ Work has been a pain and sljdfldjfldjsljf *clings*

Had Alaska been anyone but herself, she might’ve laughed or smiled at Fini’s startled reaction, but she merely stared blankly. As the woman stepped aside, Alaska reached for the door to flick it open. She continued to don her sneakers before carefully seating herself on her bed, the basketball in her lap as she eyed the other trainee with a wary gaze. “How nice,” she answered, almost unconvinced when in reality it was just her personality, her attempt to fill in the silence.
“It was still an introduction. The context of it doesn’t bother me, but regardless…” Now that there was no one to jeer at either of them—mostly her, she thought wryly—Alaska brought forth a hand. “Alaska Burns. Pleasure to meet you, and has she now?” Her lips twisted into a grimace, not sure if she wanted to be happy or annoyed with whatever words her twin had spoken. “How nice of her.”Kyrieko shhh it's okay cause i took longer haha.........
