On the surface: Momo is an odd creature as she seems highly impressionable considering how quickly she has been taking on the habits of Joffrey, almost idolizing him after he beat her in a battle. Yet for all the striking of poses, narration, and general tomfoolery, she does have her own personality. For the most part, she has a whimsical nature and views life in a very lofty, idealistic way.
But deep down: MoMo has a dream of being a Pokemon Connoisseur, helping people develop their relations with their pokemon and find out where each and every one belongs with theirs. More than that though, MoMo hates it when people view pokemon training as pure competition as she doesn’t view it’s fair to the pokemon themselves. There are some exceptions of course as some pokemon enjoy it, but for that to be their entire existence seems like a cruel fate to her.
Biography:
MoMo’s most favorite memory had to be the story of how she started her journey. Late one night when she was eight, a brilliant shooting star had caught her eye soaring high above towards Reversal Mountain which was right beside her village of Lentimas. It was such an enthralling sight. To her surprise, the light seemingly fell from the sky and down to the ground. No one was awake that late and surely she knew it was, but the bewilderment MoMo held was beyond control.
Sneaking out of her home, she deftly went towards the mountain, looking for the shining star that fell from the sky. She didn’t need to go far, for off to the side still close to the base of the mountain was a flickering of burning wings and weak cries. What she saw was frightening for someone so young, it was hard to understand. There was an older person with a pokemon that she couldn’t remember, all that she knew however was that a majestic Valcarona was drenched in water, having been shot out of the sky. The trainer threw the pokeball at it, and yet for its struggling, it was still caught, completely demoralized. However, below it there was an egg. The Valcarona’s body must have cradled it and sheltered it as it fell.
MoMo rushed over and went to protect the egg, staring up at the trainer who remained covered in the shadows. Shouting at the other person to go away, they laughed at her, a cynical thing. They said something, some kind of remark but she didn’t remember the words. All she knew as it made her hate them even more. The person intended to take the egg with them, but she wouldn’t allow it. Picking up the egg and running away with it, she remembers flashes of flames chasing her and an intense pain in her arm. She managed to squeeze herself through some rocks and hide herself and the egg. After that, she fell unconscious due to the pain.
She was eventually found that morning when one of the Rangers for the area started their patrol. She was rushed back to the village where her arm was tended. Once she woke up, she refused to be separated from the egg, wanting to be with it and take care of it, knowing what had happened the night before. It was eventually allowed, though due to her age, she was to be escorted around by the Rangers at the Reversal Mountains to help take care of the egg until it hatched.
Bringing the egg up to the mountains to rest it in the warm volcanic ashes there every day with the assistance of the Rangers, the egg eventually hatched there at the mountain. When the Larvesta hatched from the egg, the two were instantly inseparable. The Ranger who was there at the time saw how well the two got together and let her keep the pokemon. She didn’t have any pokeballs of her own, so the Ranger gave her one to keep the Larvesta in. As soon as the Larvesta let her officially catch it however, she let him out again only to hug the pokemon in a warm embrace. Leo. His name would be Leo, and they would be the best of friends.
Her second favorite memory is when she found out her calling in her life. For four years she raised Leo with such devotion that no one denied her dedication. The two of them ran around the area dancing, camping up the side of the mountain while making loud sounds that were supposed to resemble singing, and helping the Rangers with different trainers, navigating them around the mountain. Her parents wouldn’t let her become an official trainer until she was older. She thought it was her dream to become a trainer and then a ranger, being the defender of the Reversal Mountains.
It wasn’t until a pokemon connoisseur came to her town however that she found out what her real ambition was however. They had originally come at the behest of the Poke-Centre as somehow a pokemon not native to the surrounding area had found its way there. The connoisseur was to find out why it was there and where it was supposed to be.
MoMo never really had time to speak to anyone from outside the region so this was a perfect opportunity. With Leo holding onto her back, the two of them went out to meet the connoisseur and barrage them with questions. She was also hoping to catch a glimpse of the pokemon that was kept at the centre. Going to the pokecentre, she got there just in time to see the pokemon being taken from the back room out into the open. The connoisseur was also there was well to inspect the pokemon. As the connoisseur was inspecting the pokemon and checking by speaking to it and trying to detect if it had formed any attachments to someone (which would indicate if it ran away from a trainer or it was wild), the pink bloby shaped pokemon that looks like a mix between a, well, she didn’t know. It was rather cute though with little flowers on its tushie.
The pokemon seemed to take offense to the questions and snorted at the connoisseur before letting out a large yawn. Everyone in the area, including MoMo started to get very sleepy and it was evident that the pokemon had just used one of its abilities. Falling asleep, she remembered her dream, a dream that was of her greeting various pokemon and people, warm friendly images and exchanges, as if she was helping them, but most of it she forgot unfortunately. MoMo felt a nuzzle against the side of her face which woke her up. When she woke, the pink creature was there and seemed far happier than when it was being poked and prodded.
While the others were still asleep, MoMo woke up Leo who in turn nuzzled against the pink-thing. They got to know each other a bit and then the other adults woke up. The connoisseur was laughed a bit and explained that the pokemon, the Munna, had put them all to sleep and found someone’s dream that made them comfortable. From what he could tell, the Munna was either abandoned, or it ran away seeing as they were from a bit further south.
MoMo had then remembered her dream, she wanted to be a connoisseur like him! He agreed to stay in the city for a bit longer and help her learn more about the responsibilities they had. Eventually he had to go back, but ever few months he sent her a new book to read about being a connoisseur. As she read these books and took care of her two best friends, she began to fully understand what would be required of her in the future. All of this helped to prepare MoMo for her sixteenth birthday when her parents finally, finally let her start her adventure. She would learn first-hand experience about pokemon and their relation with people!
