It was cold up here, but that was hardly a problem, as ever since the remaking of the sky, he'd been a bit shaggy. The errant critters were long gone - thankfully - but he had remained a rather shaggy dragon. The reminder of having served his proper function pleased him, though being a touch on the fluffy side didn't necessarily lend itself well to being a big, scary dragon. It wasn't as though he'd had much need of being scary in quite some time.

Time. He'd lost track of time, admittedly. There had been so much to do, helping his refugee-followers find a suitable location to settle, then to construct their Weyr, populate it, run it, stifle in-fighting...it was exhausting sometimes. Once it had stabilized, he'd retreated from such direct involvement to rest and observe. He had his share of visitors, both from the Weyr and outside of it, seeking him out for one thing or another - sometimes to give him things, those were always his favorite interruptions - but had passed the last several months doing very little at all worth mentioning.

Today wasn't looking to be any different. He'd received tribute this morning, eaten what of it was edible, and had arranged his newest trinkets to his satisfaction before dozing off. It was horribly cliche, really, a dragon sleeping on a mountain, surrounded by his hoard - a small one, to be perfectly frank - but he liked that.

Oblivious to the possibility that his day was soon going to take a more interesting turn, the Fangbridle snored away, his lazily swaying tail sweeping the snow into banks on either side of it.

"Which mountain did you say that was ?"

Xun Jiang had the feeling he had gotten lost horribly somewhere along the line. Riro hadn't mentioned snow, after all. It didn't help that it was a little hard to hear any of them, even if both he and Ekita were near his ears (last he checked, anyway).

There was such a thing as too damn bloody big, and as far as Xun Jiang was concerned, he was it for as long as it would take to get used to it again

Though... Wait, what ? He blinked, having gotten the glimpse of something familiar down below. Was that... ? He would turn around as carefully as he could, given his two passengers, and snorted. Sure bloody enough...

Suddenly he was more interested in this than trying to find the right damn mountain. "Well, seem we have a surprise. Better check it out." He angled his descent. Zhijian was lucky. Had it not been for Riro and Ekira, Xun would have probably taken some well-earned revenge and tackled his brother. Rolling in the snow would have been fun, and abusing his size while he was on the superior bracket was part of his plans for as long as he could get away with it.

Ekita was starting to wonder how exactly she had ended up along on this little adventure. From what she had been able to glean before Shen had pulled them out of bed was that they were looking for a mountain of all things. Why they were looking for said mountain was beyond her, but Shen insisted on going along - probably only because it involved flying. Given the fact that he had been the one "driving" this morning she had little choice. Personally, she would have been more than happy to stay in bed with Renkah and not be out in this freezing weather. She was clinging to Xun's back with her legs and adjusting her goggles when he took his sudden dive.

"What the ********> No she hadn't exactly been prepared for that.

Brother! Though which brother was a little difficult to tell between the height and the snow.

Riro had wanted Xun's help with the mountain, but they had been unable to do anything for some time. Other things needed to be taken care of. And he wanted Xun's inspection to make sure that he could safely change a few things without causing problems elsewhere. There were several considerations as to why the height needed to be within in a certain range; the orchids and higher stamina.

He had started to reply but then Xun changed direction causing him to blink in surprise. Riro glanced around and saw what Xun did. He wondered exactly what was up.

"Xun, I'm guessing you know who this is," Riro asked, watching the ground below as they dropped down. He was not quite certain who it was but obviously they had made an impression on Xun. There was something about this one that he could not quite figure out but even so, he wanted a closer look. And obviously Xun was going to provide that without Riro asking.

Luckily for Zhijian's dignity, he was not sleeping so heavily as to be completely oblivious to the world, as he was fairly used to periodic interruptions to his naps for one thing or another (he'd hate to miss an offering). Although, with his luck, it would just be J'lah and Likoth come to pester him again. The brownrider's complaints mixed with requests for favor were getting very old, and his patience was wearing thin. Already annoyed just thinking about it, the thickly-furred dragon stirred and yawned, eyes opening to slits to glare up at the sky.

But...that was not a brown dragon at all. That was a Dragon. Well. That was much better than what he had been expecting. Ying Long drew himself up and shook loose the snow that had gathered in his coat, and awaited his brother with a toothy grin.

The possibility of trying to tackle him out of the air occurred to him, but...no, that would have taken effort, and he hadn't been awake long enough for that.

Fortunately for all of them.

And further luckily for Zhijian, Xun Jiang wouldn't move to sit on him. Has it not been for his passengers, he very well might have.

As to what awaited Ekita and Riro, well, they would likely be subjected to their brother's affection soon enough. Landing was relatively easy - at least the space was big enough for them both - and Xun Jiang would lay down in order to let the other two slide off him safely.

"What are you doing all the way out here ?!" This was the last place he expected to find, well, anyone ! "Someone should shave you, Zhiji. You look ridiculous." Xun snorted, thankfully not in the direction of those likely to be blown away.

"Leave it to Fangbridle to fall asleep anywhere like some overgrown cat." Memory supplied no name but it gave him that much at least.

Ekita hoped this one was at least as tolerant as Xun, otherwise this could get rough rather quickly and unfortunately for her this was not the ideal place for that to happen. She carefully slid down from Lifewater's back and landed in the snow looking about as comfortable as a suffocating fishing in this environment.

Fangbridle? Riro pondered for a moment and then he suddenly understood. This was a dragon king and a brother.

"Likely he needs all that hair, Xun,
to stay warm in all this snow. Greetings, brother. It has been a long while since we have seen one another," he laughed as he jumped off into the snow beside Ekita. Bowing, Takeru stared at his brother. The snow really did not bother him much. He had fought battles in it and simply shut the cold away. Inwardly he blinked. Perhaps that was Riro that had done so and not he. No matter. One of them had so both of them would believe they had.

"I live here," he answered cheerfully, "What's your excuse?" He eyed his clearly much larger brother, someone he was not yet going to give the satisfaction of his observing this allowed. Especially after the suggestion that he need to be shaved. How absurd! "If anyone tries, I will eat them." He snapped his jaws for emphasis.

But Ti Lung had not come alone. Zhijian regarded the strangers with some suspicion for a moment, nostrils flaring as he breathed deep to take in their scents. Dragons. Brothers...or hosts thereof, more accurately. One scent was vaguely more familiar than the other, and he narrowed his eyes at the male host. Male. Chien Tang's host had been female. Had been. And was now, resumably, dead, or consumed, or whatever happened to failed hosts. "Chien Tang. A long while, indeed. You look...different."

His gaze turned back to the other host. "As you may soon see, that is because I am an overgrown cat, Shen Lung."

"He is an overgrown cat, unfortunately for us all." Xun Jiang let out a long suffering sigh. Oh, the horrible things he had endured ! Still, this was the only warning he gave of what was likely to come. "Sheds everywhere, too."

He would find humanoid shape, then, if only for Ekita and Riro's safety. Getting a little too excited in dragon form would find one or both off the mountain, probably. He was still downright massive in comparison to the both of them, which was comical in itself.

"I was looking for a mountain for boy wonder over here." He thumped Riro with his tail lightly. "I do believe I wound out horribly lost. He did not say anything about snow !"

Poor Ekita looked like a suffocating goldfish. Xun Jiang wasn't sure if it was because of the cold or general discomfort, so he simply kept an eye on her. He could help with the former, the latter not so much.

At the notion of eating someone he snorted. "Somehow that does not surprise me." Shedding wasn't the least bit surprising either. He gave his host a somewhat impolite nudge so he could take control instead. This was a gathering for dragons after all, impromptu as it might be, and it was the first time he had seen another brother aside from Takeru and Xun Jiang in a long time. This action had the side effect of sheltering Ekita nicely so she would not have to bear the effects of the cold directly.

"I'd say we past lost a couple of hours ago." He was prepared to duck, fully expecting Xun's tail to come after him next.

”Yes. She failed. Xun found me and helped find another stronger host. This is Riro no Taisho, an Oniwanjin, a white wolf demon from Earth. My family is much larger this time. A son, two brothers, some human children, and a clan of Oniwanjin reside with me at the pantheon.” Riro had automatically let Takeru have control for this.

He laughed softly when he was thumped by Xun’s tail. “Yes, I want a mountain to live on. The Kazehika clan is feathered and prefers windy heights. And I am interested in Riro’s notion of a training dojo. It is hard to build an army amidst the Pantheon and those living there. A little snow is fine, but not quite this much. I don’t want to kill them, just train them.” If some students died from their own foolishness, it was not his fault. It was theirs.

“You should come to visit us. The only brothers I’ve seen are Shen and Xun. Do you know where the others are? I know Yu the Five Claws is at the Pantheon also. I should sneak up on him at some point.”

"Yes, yes," he said, rolling his eyes and gesturing idly with a forepaw. "And I drool and leave toothmarks on everything, too. Don't forget about that."

"Why does your getting lost not surprise me? Perhaps you should stick to water, my brother." Now that Xun was conveniently smaller, Zhijian took a moment to resettle himself...but only as a cover, so that he could sweep snow at his brother with his tail.

He absorbed the information from Chien Tang with a blink and a nod. "...Interesting. You've been quite busy, then."

"I'm afraid I don't. I saw Yu some time ago, but there was much to be done here, and then I was tired..." He shook his head, as though shaking off the sleep. "I will visit when I can, though it may be another few weeks before that is possible. I am...waiting for something. But come, it is cold up here and I the only one with fur. It is much more pleasant below, in the Weyr, if you care for a little hospitality."

"Well, of course you do."

Shen was indeed about to get tall whacked in turn, except that Zhijian's rather rude gesture stopped him. He snorted and a bit of snow flew off, quite comically.

And then the rest of the snow did, barreling back to sender in the form of a small snow storm. Ti Lung might have been smaller, but he was not defenseless, oh no !

Too bad there was no lake nearby, and too bad Zhiji was so big.

"That is a good idea." Even if he had wanted to leave and leave the fangbridle to rest, he had the feeling Shen and Takeru might try to scale him for it. And he could not blame them.

"Woah. Woah! Careful. Not all of us can fight back you know." If he could have gotten into this he certainly would have, but his scales were still locked away. He frowned, pulled up the goggles and crossed his arms over his chest. Getting out of the cold would certainly be something Ekita appreciated, but it was up to Xun Jiang and Takeru really. He was just along for the ride.
