For once, Sulu felt safe in darkened Soldul... safe-ish, anyway. She had found a nice spot under some gnarled roots to hide from the horrible blood moon, and even some food to fill her belly. And, if she stayed still, she might be able to watch a dragon. Apparently the gnarled roots were at the edge of a clearing frequented by a Ysali dragon, one that was there RIGHT NOW doing some herb magic. Suluksati was delighted- she honestly rarely got the opportunity to view her beloved dragons when they weren't being killed, running like hell, or attacking her. She scooped some mud on her wings to hide her gleamingly white feathers and dull her scent, settling in to watch. She'd always loved magic, honestly, even as a keinling. And when she'd grown into her own magic, she'd been so delighted! Watching others do magic was still facinating, when she wasn't dodging it or trying to stop it. She had never seen a dragon use magic in a peaceful, non-life-or-death setting- hadn't really properly sat down and watched them before, to be honest. To have this rare oppurtunity to dragonwatch... well it (almost) made up for the hellish forest around her!

The young huntress stalked her prey, careful to stay downwind of the clearing she was approaching. Her purpose today a noble one and the beast that must be slain to achieve her goals would see it's death mean something.Myrddin crept quietly through the forest that she called home. For the first time the young girl was going to try and kill a dragon by herself. The blood moon was a special time and dragon souls added to certain draughts or enchantments made the results extra potent right now. Wanting to assist her mother in her work Myr had decided that today she was ready to face off against a dragon. She was young but she was a child of the forest and the bone bladed daggers she wielded were strong enough to pierce a dragon's hide. Upon spotting the distracted ysali Myrddin grinned. The smallest and easiest of the dragons to defeat. Plus their souls were one of the types useful for her mother's purposes. How best to attack though, charging the dragon would only get her mauled and poisoned. She was fast but not enough so that she could get across the clearing before the Ysali noticed her. Maybe if she circled round the edge of the clearing so that she started nearer to the busy dragon. Or she could throw one of her daggers and hope for a lucky strike. Yes that was the best option. Slowly she raised an army and tried to steady her hand. Throwing daggers was not the young oblivionite girl's forte.

The mud she had used to cloak herself- which would be a real b*** to work out of her feathers (but was totally worth it!) also cloaked her own sense of smell. The forest was noisy with fell things, too, and so she didn't know the young oblivionite was there until the bone-hilted dagger flashed to a halt right near the startled dragon's forepaw. She perked up, her crest rising in alertness as she readied herself to defend the dragon from whatever horrible two legged threat it was about to face. The Ysali- used to being the butt of hunts and other dragons and lucky enough to have survived this attempt- was already getting the hell out of there, leaving what it couldn't grab and carry with it in the clearing as it tried to run and get some lift so it could flee to safer areas where it had friends who could help it.

Myrddin frowned as her dagger failed to hit it's mark and her prey scurried off before she could could throw the second dagger. She was so much better at carving things with knives than she was with throwing them. Now she'd need to pic a different part of the forest to hunt in as the Ysali would likely keep it's family clear of this area for some time. A smart move but one that made Myr's life more difficult. With a sigh the young girl strode out into the clearing intent on reclaiming her dagger. She was unaware that a third being had watched her failed hunt occur.

Suluksati was about to charge out to cover the Ysali's retreat, when she saw the hunter. Perhaps she should have been prepared from meeting Sueno, but she hadn't realized that Oblivionites came so... small. And cute... and... Glowy? She peered over the brush to get a better look. What on Magesc were those; something strange shifted and glowed beneath the creature's skin. Was it an oblivionite, even, or some fell creature of this forest? She sniffed the air. No, it was an oblivionite. She was familiar with their dragon-killing smell. The combination of movements- crouching in for a charge, stretching to peer, and leaning forward to scent- unbalnaced her breifly and she flared her wings to reposition herself. The brush around her rustled ominously in the process and she stilled, her heart racing in the seeming silence. She wasn't sure if she wanted to be caught by an Oblivionite in their own lands. She had had a reprieve from the dark thoughts from a while, but suddenly, to the tune of her own heartbeat, she was suddenly very aware of being an Aedaun on lands that hated her and her kind...

Just as Myrddin was straightening up from retrieving her dagger she heard a noise to her left. Swiftly she turned on her heel to face whatever threat might come her way. Empty eyes peered into the darkness as the oblivionite girl tried to discern what might be moving in the shadow of the forest. There was nothing though, no movement to betray what being had made the noise and might now be stalking her. "Who's there?" Myrddin's tone was questioning but not demanding. She did not want to upset whatever or whoever had an advantage over her at this very moment. Either they would reply or she would back away slowly and then take to the trees for added safety.

Oh no, she'd been noticed! It was a small oblivionite, but WHO KNEW WHAT THEY COULD DO. Well, not much more than orderites, but IT WAS THE BLOOD MOON and she didn't know if their dark goddess gave them any nasty little presents, even to their little ones. She swallowed, then calmed down a little. She could announce herself, a bit. Just a bit. She knew it was rash, but it would make her feel more confident, definitely, and she needed every scrap of confidence during the blood moon. "Please do not hunt that dragon" she said quietly, the bushes rustling again as she rearranged herself into a less awkward position. She did not emerge. Like Myrddin, she knew she could -try- to use the trees and forest to her advantage, however much that was given that she, even covered with mud, stood out among the dark trees like a light in the darkness.

That dragon? Hmm. " Are you friend with that ysali? Does it have a name or something. I've never heard a dragon's name before." Myrddin knew many drakein and their names but to think of a dragon as an individual with a name and friends was not normal for her. Families sure but friends who cared about if they got hunted, that was just, well it was sort of strange. " You can come out you know, I promise not to hurt you." As she waited for a reply Myrddin sheathed her dagger and did her best to seem non threatening. Whoever was out there didn't seem all that interested in getting aggressive with her based on their tone and the use of the word please.

"No" said Suluksati, somewhat surprised. In all of her time doing this, never once had she thought to try to make friends: most dragons either fought or ran when she tried to talk to them. "I don't know that one." Dragons as friends... Dragons with names... She realized, suddenly, that she didn't know if they had names. She wondered why that had never occurred to her before. "But I am fond of dragons and I... wouldn't want to see one killed so..." she hesitated, trying to find the word, "It was leaving. It wanted no quarrel with you..." Cautiously, she stepped out of the brush, her wings tense and held against her back, ready to be flared in self defense. She felt open again, exposed and out of place in this hellish wood. Her feathers, though muddied and in need of a good grooming, were still bright against the glowing mushrooms and dark trees. "I... won't harm you either." she said, relieved that the knife, at least, was away. She stared at the other for a few moments, too wary to say much more. "Good morning." she said finally, managing a smile of sorts.

Myrddin nodded as she listened, the girl supposed that if she was fond of dragons she wouldn't want to see them harmed either. Of course Myr herself didn't hate dragons but their souls were useful in her mother's work and she was far more fond of her mother than she was of dragons. Winning this argument was probably not possible though and the dragon in question was long gone now so the oblivionite girl let it drop. As the feathered Drakein stepped forward Myrddin smiled. She did like drakein quite a bit. "Good morning, why are you so dirty?" As a pureblooded oblivionite Myrddin was too young yet to see in colours. She could tell the drakein's feathers, that were not mud covered, were bright but not their hue. The drakein might not be able to hide when she was so bright but she couldn't fight when weighed down by all that gunk either.

"I, ah, well..." Suluksati tried to shake the dirt off of her feathers, but most of it was still mucky and sticky. "I was trying to hide my colors and scent." she said, honestly. "I suppose that isn't so necessary now." at least she hoped not. "Are your parents nearby?" she asked, trying to replace worry for herself in this dark and terrible wood with worry for the child who- oblivionite they may be- was clearly still a child in a dangerous place.

Myrddin shook her head "No they're both working back home." Her father was fixing a hole in the roof cause by a tree falling during a recent storm and her mother was experimenting. "Do you need help?" Myrddin was more than willing to assist this strange drakein, provided it was something she knew how to do and hadn't determined was far too difficult for herself. Some tasks simply had to be handled by other people and Myrddin didn't even bother with those.

"No..." she said, trying to act magnanimous and heroic despite being filthy and scared, "Actually, you have already helped me by not pursuing the dragon..." Oh who was she fooling. Without a dragon to watch, she wanted to be out of this place. "Though, do you know this forest well she asked" It occurred to her that the child's parents being home meant that the child was on their own... "And are your parents all right with you being on your own...? she asked, worriedly.

" I live in the forest," Myrdddin explained "I haven't seen all of it but I know a lot of it really well." It had taken a great deal of her time growing up to learn the layout of her family's territory and that of drakein clans and dragons who owned the space within the boundaries her parents had set for her. Still by now Myr could navigate through anywhere she knew with little difficulty. She offered the feathery drakein another small smile. " As long as I don't stray outside certain borders I'm safe. My parents taught me how to take care of myself." Not that the young oblivionite thought of herself as self sufficient. She was simply good at keeping herself safe and getting out of trouble for the most part. " I've never hunted a dragon alone before though," she frowned " I thought I was ready."

"You LIVE here?!" Suluksati said incredulously. It was very difficult to believe that someone so... cute... could live in this horrid, haunted place. "W... well, as long as you're safe." she said, a bit relieved. She supposed children didn't need constant overbearing supervision. This was more like a Keindred's sort of care, where you let them explore on their own and trusted them to keep their wits about them and keep themselves alive to some extend. She didn't know if the girl was at the magescan age equivalent of a Keindred, but... well... she was cute. "Why did you feel you needed to hunt a dragon today?" she asked. It was a question that often weighed on her mind, and she thought that maybe she would get a proper answer from someone relatively untainted by the corruption of age. Why did they hunt dragons, other than for protection of course.
