SHADOW RUN  Sun Hunter
SHADOW RUN
The Shadow Run is both the simplest and most dangerous training course that can be run without a golem. A flurry of continuous attacks is what the Sun Division holds in highest respect, and the course reflects that. The course itself is a simple tunnel, reached via portal. Within the tunnel await hundreds of weak, hungry shadowlings. Nothing to worry about on their own, but capable of overwhelming a Hunter through sheer numbers at the first moment of weakness. At the other end of the tunnel is another portal, leading back to the course observation booth.
If you fail: your character is KO'd, but there's always a senior hunter in the observation booth with enhanced bandages at the ready. They should reach you in time. Really. Trained and trusty professionals on-hand 24/7.
If you win: peen points and bragging rights to those who take out the greatest number of shadowlings and go the most turns without needing to attempt a recovery maneuver.
Mechanics
You must get through 5 waves of attacks to make it through the tunnel.
Simply roll for attack as you would in battle.
If you miss, your character falters in their attacking and is overwhelmed by shadowlings.
After 3 successful hits, you may use your weapon's charge attack.
Bonus Mechanics
This bonus is consumable.
The bonus in this course is in the form of "recoveries" ~ these are would-be missed attacks that are quickly recovered and turned into a successful hit. Basically, they can miss once and roll again for an extra try. If you keep consecutively missing, though, and run out of recoveries, it's lights out. These do not equal an automatic pass for a round, you still have to land a successful hit to proceed.
Trainees: 0 recovery
Sun Trainees: 1 recovery
Hunters: 1 recovery
Sun Hunters: 2 recoveries

She was pissed. So ******** pissed.
It had been some time since she'd felt this amount of anger. And she didn't like it. Didn't want anyone to see her in a fit of rage. So, she'd decided to do something she'd not done for some time either.
Go beat up some shadowlings.
:: Precioussss. :: Vashi snarled, trying to get her to focus. Stupid human!
Fini cursed as the first wave came, kicking at the nearest shadowling as Vashi was summoned to her hands. With a vicious jab to the vicinity of its head, she took out at least one.
:: Pathetic, Infinity. ::

The next wave came. She wasn't prepared for it and it was just embarrassing at how easily they began to overwhelm her.

Gritting her teeth and letting out a cry of frustration, Fini lunged right into a group of shadowlings, eyes narrowed as she focused on wielding Vashi. And she may or may not have imagined each shadowling to wear the face of a certain Death Lead. Goddamn tantrums!

Something grazed against her back, causing Fini to whirl around and strike at a shadowling. Vashi howled his threats in his own language, encouraging her to keep at it. Another came towards her and she took it down too. It still wasn't enough to make her proud, but at least she was making progress.
Though her frustration was still quite peaked.
With a loud curse, Fini slammed her fist into the closest shadowling, grinning as it crumpled to the ground. Status Wave: FourAttack Dmg: 3 Total Shadowlings taken out: 8 Recoveries left: USED Weapon Charge: 3/3

Breathing a little labored, Fini prepared for the final wave. Either they got passed them, or had to walk away failures. And that just... was not acceptable. Her hand gripped the sais swords tightly, knuckles white. And then they came. And she fought hard, letting all her frustration out on any wriggling shadow being that moved.
:: Let's do it, precious. I'm ready. :: There was a sinister hiss in his tones, but Fini wasn't afraid.
The sun huntress crossed the blades, kicking a shadowling away as the blades began to glow. With a yell, she scrapped the sais swords against one another, seeing a faint shower of sparks before a blast of light was thrown at their opponents.
The attack did its job and Vashi cackled in her mind as she huffed out a breath, vicious grin appearing along her lips. That had felt good!
There weren't many more of the creatures that came and finally, nothing else. Fini stood, sweat dripping down her brow and hair sticking to her face uncomfortably along with her clothes clinging to her skin. But she felt... better. Still irritated about certain things, but she'd definitely needed this.
:: A shower for you, precious. :: Vashi murmured, highly content with their victory. :: We'll do better next time. ::
