She almost missed it, in the confusion of Sahara and bugs and terribleness.
She had let her mood slide from not caring about her friend in one instant, survival at its finest, to coming back alive with a few burns and bites and not much else. Physically, she was still good. Emotionally, a little rocky...Mentally....she would never forget the fear of not being able to fight any longer.
But all that seemed to dim when, the day after the mission, she had heard through the grapevine that it was a certain death hunter's birthday.
And she had to pay the boy back for the chocolate he shared anyways.
"Otto!" She banged on his door, hands on her hips...a rare huge candy sack of questionable origin was held in her hands.

Otto knew that voice! The teen jogged to his door after rolling off his bed, where he'd been reading and resting. Bandages were wrapped around his neck and shoulders underneath a loosely worn teeshirt, and a few random bandaids painted across various skin that had suffered the wrath of spray back of acid. It hurt like Hell, and it might scar a little, but all in all, Otto survived another nightmare. Opening the door, Otto smirked a little upon seeing Nevada. "Sup?"

Nevada reached out as soon as the door opened, bringing Otto in a full but careful hug. (because both of them were still recovering right.) and then slipped past him to make a beeline for the pillows as per usual Nevada visits to Otto room.
As soon as she made herself comfortable, she looked at Otto with a very serious face before breaking out in:
"Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday OTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......"
She took a breath.
"Happy birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu."
Then she plopped the bag of candy down on the ground, emptying the contents.
"I brought you presents."

The hug was well received, carefully as well on his end. Closing the door, he already knew exactly where Nevada was headed. That spot practically had her name written on it by now. As Otto turned around, he was assaulted with the dreaded Birthday song. He had to smirk, hiding a laugh by turning his head down and rubbing his neck.
At least she sang it in private. So embarrassing.
"Thanks----presents?" Perking up, he dropped himself in front of Nevada, staring down at the bag of candy. His face brightened up, tearing away his usual frown. "Oh my God. Candy." Candy to replace all his loot that Kat sabotaged!

It was not embarrassing Otto, Be lucky she didn't invite people over, she would if she could.
She hee'd a bit in her spot, laying back with a lazy smirk and waved at the goods.
"I had to raid a special stash of mine, one I have been marginally careful to get to since portals went down but I figured this was a good time. I mean we survied a ******** bug filled desert, and you live to see another birthday." She picked up a candy bar, peeling it back to toast to Otto.
"That's a big F U to the master of death again." She took a bite and closed her eye, heaven on her tongue at this moment.
"I think there's a bottle of Chocolate tequila too, you can have that." She toed at the small but potent alcohol. Again, very rare from her stash. After this all she'd have left was an orange cream vodka and a couple of candy bars.
It was all worth it for this moment right here.
"How you feeling by the way Handsome?" She pointed to the bandages akin to his body on hers.

Otto smirked and returned the toast with a chocolate of his own. Ah! The sweet, orgasmic taste of chocolate was once again his to experience. It had been much too long. "A big, ********' Eff You." Otto agreed.
Otto's eyes widened and he leaned forward suddenly, "Chocolate Tequila?! That's a real thing!?" He grabbed the bottle and looked it over, knowing full well he was an easy drunk. But this was Nevada, so he felt safe enough. Besides. CHOCOLATE! BIRTHDAY!
"I'm doin' fine. The acid burns sting like all Hell, but I got out of that little jaunt pretty damn unscathed, considering..." He sure hoped Candace was okay..

"A big one, Middle finger to the man!" Nevada added again, the candy bar was gone with another big mouthful as he leaned over with the alcohol.
"Chocolate tequila, it's legit. I had strawberry too and that was good." Nevada watched him grab it, "It's your birthday handsome, and you can do whatever you want."
She picked another candy up.
"Same here, More bug bites and stings than anything else." Thankfully she had it all hidden under her sweater.
"Okay Handsome, Drink up. We won't get this a lot." She reached over for the bottle.

Oh my God gunna have chocolate booze on my 19th Birthday and I have candy and Best Friend with me Oh My God! Otto mentally prattled, while Tenya giggled and cheered. The blonde grinned and popped open the bottle, taking a good long swig before handing it to Nevada for a sip.
Woah. So warm... so chocolaty! So amazing.
"This is ******** amazing."

She watched the delight in his face light up and grinned, Yeah. She was definitely glad she caught this.
The bottle was passed to her for a small swig and a long sigh.
"This is exactly how a day after the mission should be spent...." She closed her eye and laughed.
"No chocolate coma's though Otto, I'm not strong enough to carry you to life labs." She was teasing but...it'd be pretty funny for Chocolate coma.

"Damn straight. We gotta try this more often after shitty missions.... wait, was that even a mission?" Otto turned his gaze upward as if thinking. "No, more like a punishment." Because Caelius.
"Anyway, screw the life labs. Just lemme bask in it a coma in my own room." He huffed back with his logic. He hated infirmaries anyway. "I could die of overdose of chocolate. That sounds ok to me." Another swig of the booze.

"I don't even know, It was a cruel reminder that Caelius seems to be the biggest a*****e ever. And doesn't appreciate free things obviously." She took the bottle and one more swig. Yeah that would do for a nice buzz. Sugar induced buzz.
She pushed the candy towards Otto and grinned.
"I can think of ten times better ways to go Otto, but Chocolate death would be the best." She laughed.
"The life labs are the only place I go to now. They always have so much paperwork to process through. Life labs or Mist lounge." She snorted, "I wonder if they brought any of the bugs back." She shuddered. "I'm sorry I don't have much else to offer for birthday, I would've brought over movies or something but..." SUPPLIES AND POWER WAS LIMITED.
"I'll owe you one, once portals are back."

Otto took another candy, seeming to glow a little as he ate some of it. Happiness levels increasing. "Life labs, huh? I wonder why I stick with Death anyway... How's Mist like?" Maybe he was scared Caelius would murder him if he tried to leave. "Nah. I don't need anything from you." He mumbled quietly, "It's enough that you came by." The booze was working it's magic, making him more honest, even if he wasn't exactly over the top drunk.

"Mist is good, but it's biased towards girls." She laughed, "I don't think Lance would like another male in his herd...especially one who can't wear miniskirts on monday." It was an actual thing now, Mist females everywhere were dressing down on mondays in miniskirts.
She slung an arm over his shoulder and squeeze. "I couldn't let one of my closest friends celebrate alone you know." She muffled her voice by eating another piece of candy. "Are you thinking of leaving death or something?" She had zoomed back into the conversation.
"I thought I might leave mist but....Aria and Stormy made it home. I can't even think of leaving now."

"Hm.. honestly I've always wondered why I was sorted in it to begin with. I've been in it so long I figure I shouldn't throw away all the work.... um.. maybe not work but.. time. Yeah. A lot of time in it. I'd have to start from the bottom again anywhere else. S'ides.." He scratched his cheek idly, "I don't wanna look like I'm quittin' or runnin' away. It ain't like I got skills that suit anything else anyway."
He huffed and took another swig of booze before munching on some more candy. Yep. The alcohol was now taking over.

She hee'd and looked over at him. "Such a adult Otto, I admire that. And am proud you ain't giving up." She let the thought sink into her brain, realizing that it almost resounded to her own thoughts...
On a completely different matter. She made friends, she cared about them...She didn't want to just stop, give that all up and start all over when she had put so much work into it. Ah She really owed Stormy an apology...after a few more days of thinking...she'd talk to her friend ******** all that nonsense." She agreed. "Whatcha want to talk about then? You and Eva do it yet?" Again alcohol was no filter...but she at least added. "Just kidding handsome, don't worry."
