Back when Square Enix was still Squaresoft, they had some very large financial troubles in the late eighties. It was so bad that they were going out of business. As their fairwell, they named their latest project Final Fantasy. Ironically, the game that was supposed to be their last ended up being the savior for the company.
Now nearly 15 or 16 years since the company has started, the name final fantasy is known throughout the entire gaming industry as being a king of RPGs. Now with a total of 11 different Final Fantasy titles which branch off to a total of nearly 20 to 25 different games in total (not including the Final fantasy Adventures which was later the Mana series and the Chocobo games and even Ehrgeiz). So this board is dedicated to that series.

Final Fantasy is awesome! xd I've only played all the way through X, though. We have the others on the PS1, I just haven't ever gotten time to go through them. Though, I did play ALOT of XI Online. It was lots of fun. I was a white mage/black mage.
That's really neat about the history. I'm more of a very casual gamer so I didn't know all that. Thanks for sharing. ^^ I also enjoy Kingdom Hearts (I don't know if that really counts of not, but thought I'd mention it.)

i'd always wondered why it was called Final Fantasy, that's pretty cool 3nodding
i played VII for about 5 minutes so i can't really contribute anything
but i did like the graphics...

I liked VII the most before but now that I'm older, I realize I like VIII just a bit more.

I've played and beaten VII, IX, X, and X-2. I'm not allowed to play online games, so XI isn't really an option. (But I can't wait for XII!) And since it usually gets clumped in with the FF games, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. My favorite plot wise is diffinitively X, but my favorite battle system was X-2, and most of my favorite characters come from VII. I really want to play VIII, but I can't track down a copy in RL. I'm going to have to get it online, which I'm not too comfortable with. But, if it's for FF, I'll do it. whee

Play VIII Epsilon. I loved it more than I did VII. It wasn't like that at first (loved VII to death) but after I thought about it and realized how deep the story was for VIII, I realized I liked VIII better. And in my opinion, VIII had one of the most complex systems for EVERYTHING ( stressed Took SOOO long to get the hang of everything) but once you master it, its probably the best I've seen. Anything can literally be turned into anything with the right skills. You can turn cards into items then the items into magic and then magic into stats (Card -> Item -> Magic = junction = stats). If you ever do play it, just remember this combo:
Squall, Rinoa, And 1 other (I don't care who but I LOVED Zell Dincht)
Then use this in combination
1) Meltdown/Doomtrain (magic attack that takes away all of an enemies defenses)
2) Summon Cerberus (castes double and triple on everybody)
3) Triple Aura (Lets everybody use their limit breaks until it runs out)
4) Invincible Moon (Rinoa's limit break)/ War Gong (both of them turn the entire party invincible and they can't be touched by anything, including magic, physical attack, or healing of any kind. Truely invincible)
5) Phoenix Feather (Summons a phoenix that damages enemy. Also, has a chance of ressurecting your entire party if you get a game over. xd Saved my a** SO~ many times)
6) KICK SOME SERIOUS a** WITH LIMIT BREAKS AND TRIPLE CASTING SPELLS IN A ROW (Use Squall's ultimate weapon and ultimate limit break xd With maxed out strength, its rediculously powerful! Also, triple cast meteor and Ultima. Again, it'll just do so much damage its rediculous. Especially Meteor)
I beat the entire third and fourth disk like this. whee So funny! Totally massacred them all! Especially the final boss! =>_<= Except Greiver. Once he caught me just after my War Gong wore off and killed me! Lucky I used a phoenix earlier! xd

I'll do that. Of course, I have to track down a copy first. I really don't like buying stuff over the internet because it lacks the excitement of going to a store or borrowing it form a friend. But, stores don't really carry it anymore and none of my friends have it, so I guess I'll have to. sigh.

=^_^= ITs not the HP count that I can't beat. Its just one attack. Lvl 5 death. =>_<= And all my chars are lvl 100! So it sucks!

junction 100 death spells to your characters status defense and youll be immune from it
Hes got harder attacks then that, terra break, for instance pretty much kills everyone for me and I have almost all of my stats maxed out. It also sucks that squall uses lion heart like 1/15 of the time and I die before I can use my limit 15 times. ><
