Calypso's dark, nonchalant humor can take people off guard. This trait is also intermingled with her mischievous quality. Her goal is to pry at a person's patience, and use this in order to keep others at bay and from getting too close to her.

An individual who has inherited this ability can naturally absorb the said element into their body and convert it into an anti-energy they can manipulate to their will. Unfortunately, the aura around the individual is influenced by the concentration of death-force and may cause fear or madness to those easily influenced by their presence but also prevents the user from being able to physically touch another living being. Life-force manipulation can rival this ability and even cancel it out, bringing the user at an impasse. User's senses are heightened to the point they can sense other bodies of death-force - in other words, they can see and interact with souls of the dead, even bend them to their will. Being in an area with a higher concentration of death-force such as a cemetery or by simply killing a living being, the user receives a small boost of energy for a short period of time.

⇨ Once, Calpyso had lived as a simple Djinn, a creature only heard of in legends. She had been born to a small clan and keenly protected, as females are not born to the Djinn race very often. The overbearing love of her family drove the young Calpyso to be rebellious and escape from the isolated mountain tops where her clan had settled to the big city. There, she met a fellow magical creature that went by the name Darius. He had been a vampire. Together, they had been roommates for two years. Naturally, feelings had developed between the two and the young adults drifted into the dating status. This innocent courting period went on for eight months before Darius had decided it was time to take the next step and popped that special question to twenty-one year old, Calypso. Her answer was rhetorical. Of course she accepted and their marriage had taken place three months later.
However, it would not be her happy ending.
Merely six months into their newly wed lives, Calypso had come home from her work as a teacher assistant at the nearby high school that she had caught Darius in bed with another woman, devastating the Djinn. In an upset, Calypso had unleashed the wrath of her strong magic against Darius and his mistress. Unfortunately, the mistress that Calypso had failed to immediately recognize was her cousin, Fionna. Fionna was able to push back Calypso's fury and give some of her own. Wanting to cover his own tracks, Darius took the opportunity to turn the tables against Calypso and attacked her.
The next thing she knew, Calpyso had been hanging by a barbed wire and died with the sound of Fionna's cackle ringing in her ears.
This was not the end.
Calypso's desire for revenge had corrupted her powerful, Djinn soul into something of a greater threat. A reaper demon. Not many undergo this transformation and she had become one of those few. Enacting on her pooling rage, Calypso sought out both Darius and Fionna, finding them together and slaughtering them both and incinerating their remains. She had wanted nothing left to be of them.
Now that her dying wish had been settled, Calypso was left with an empty and lost emotion that brought her to the academy after years of wandering from place to place.
