Everything was as reported in the news, starting with sightings of strangely attired young men and women prowling the streets at night in the search of something and then the reports started coming in of people being assailed by someone who looked the splitting image of them. It didn't take long before the bizarre series of events started to claim its first victims and people who had no business to be out at night kept to whatever measure of safety their closed doors and windows could afford them.

Elnath had admittedly not been keeping up much with the news as of late. Sure her peers at DCU were all over it, keeping up with the latest news on whatever platforms they had at their disposal and speculating as to when the day would come that the authorities would cave and declare the schools closed in the name of public safety. The announcement never came to pass of course. The Dark Mirror Senshi mused, not at all convinced herself that there was something sinister out there that was potentially a greater adversary than those of the Order that she ought to be wary of. After all, the only way to prove to her that this wasn't an exaggerated urban legend that a couple of civilians came up with in order to spice up their lives was to have her come face to face with one of these herself.

Leaping from the rooftop she was on to land on the mostly deserted street, she felt a very faint blip of something that didn't quite resemble Order or Chaos and then a figure emerged from the side alley. "Found you~ ♪" She stared at the other dark mirror sailor scout, momentarily frozen in place from shock as a chill ran down her spine at the sing-song voice with which it declared its victory in locating her.

Holy. s**t. Those reports were for real.

"My Queen awaits. Tangling Tresses~ ♪" The clone took the opportunity of making the preemptive first move, calling out the exact same name of her ability and giving her a sickeningly sweet smile when its hair began to lengthen and burrow into the ground, only to emerge seconds later and wind tightly around one of her wrists and ankles. "Queen's waiting. Pleased with outcome~ ♪" What in the name of... Elnath stared at the dark brown tresses that were a tinge darker than her own, a feeling of dread starting to overcome her as she tugged on her bound wrist and ankle, unable to move from her current spot as the clone started crossing over towards her with the mirror shard that she always carried with her in its hand. "No! Who are you and what do you want with me?!"

Tangling Tresses
Elnath is able to alter the properties of her hair and extend its length at will. With this attack, Elnath will plunge her hair into the ground only to have it emerge anywhere within a 4 feet radius around her when it will wrap tightly around up to 2 targets of her choice and anchor them to the ground in order to hamper their movement. Despite the strengthened nature of her hair, it remains susceptible to fire and separate body parts (arm, leg) from the same person will count as separate targets. Her hair can't be cut but higher staged powered characters (eternal senshis, generals, knights) will be able to tear through it, rendering it only effective for 5 seconds at most. This ability lasts for 10 seconds and can be used up to 3 times per battle with a cooldown period of 1 minute.

When he'd come back, everything for Al-Janah had been about picking fights it seemed; hunting down those auras of order and poking and prodding until senshi and knights came at him. He'd wanted good fights, bloody fights, had gone after people around his own level, had come home bruised and battered.

It had been what he'd needed, then. But now, things were different. Back with Quinn, working a real [if shitty] job, sorting through paperwork for schools...

He needed to chill. And so he had. The past few weeks had been dedicated to energy collection, now that it all worked again, only taking time now and then to pick off the low hanging fruit. Pages, his favorite, fresh-faced and easy pickings.

Tonight was no different. Working during the eclipse, the new guy stuck with the shitty shift, he'd missed the pixie things that came from the sky, hadn't had any encounters with strange clones, and had only vaguely heard about it. Creeping through the woodworks. In passing. Mostly disinterested.

The hint of chaos on the distance drew him in out of curiosity more than anything else, expecting another mouthy Negaverse Officer to mock into a fit of fury. Instead, he was confronted with a Dark Mirror Senshi, one of his own, face to face with her clone.

Should he have stepped in to help? Probably. But, for the time being, he didn't. He stood back, curious, blinking, to watch. See what she did.

Just as surely as a Dark Mirror Super Senshi like Al-Janah could sense her presence, Elnath too was able to tell that he was near the moment he came within range. A Chaos energy alike her own, only stronger. A true ally unlike the Negaverse General who seemed to be more in favour of taking her down instead of the nearby Page awhile back despite her fuku and energy signature that clearly identified her as one who served Chaos as well.

It puzzled her some as to why the other kept his distance but she had not the luxury of time to ponder much lest question it with her clone approaching. Not when her life was possibly on the line and every second could make a difference in the outcome subsequently. It was like a scene that had been reenacted from a horror movie, the murderer approaching the latest victim with a murderous glint in her gaze, not even bothering to answer the victim while she struggled against her bonds, helpless to fight back until the final moment when her assailant's hand was raised to deliver the killing blow.

"I'm not going down here without a proper fight. Tangling Tresses!"

She heaved a sigh of relief when she saw her clone stopped short by her attack that she had waited till the last moment to call forth, the other snarling and growling like a caged animal as it lifted its other hand to claw at its bound wrist and ankle, doing everything possible to try to free itself so that it could once again pursue her for the kill. "You're mine. Must kill. Mine!" That was a close one. If she remembered correct, it should be just a couple seconds more now till the effects of her cloned ability wore off and she was free to move once again. She was safe though only for now.

Al-Janah was too far away for her to make out the exact words, perhaps, but she'd hear the lilt of his voice all the same -- see the way he thrust his hand upward, and the flash of red that launched itself up into the sky. It marked out a circle around her clone, a furious red falcon, great wings spread as it eased into a comfortable spiral...

And, at last, he came forward, hopping from roof to roof to stand beside her, arms absently folded in front of himself.

"Hm. What the hell is that thing?" Amber eyes flashed to her as the tresses started to release her, and he nodded back away from the creature, hopping one step, then another, until there was a decent distance between him and it.

The second the clone moved out of that circle, his summons would dive on her, raking claws down her spine.

It was eerie seeing herself like this, the animalistic growls her clone made as it clawed at its bonds and did everything possible to try to free itself and resume its objective of coming after her. Taking a step back, Elnath turned to watch Al-Janah evoke his power, the summoned bird of prey that now circled the sky above them testimonial to the sphere that he was the senshi of.

"I don't know. Maybe it's my personal version of what's on the news with people getting attacked and even killed by someone who looked exactly like them."

She rambled, not even sure if her words made any sense to him while she too retreated at the first sign of her power wearing off and allowing the clone to move freely once more. Freed from the tresses that immobilized it, the clone cackled, its gaze fixated entirely on the Dark Mirror Senshi of Hair as it started its advance towards her again.

The shade could get two, three paces, maybe -- and then the bird would swoop down from the sky, an invisible line crossed that summoned it downward. Red talons scraped up the shade's back, caught at the back of her head and her hair, and then it was twisting back into its spiral, upward. It was a warning, the bird still there, waiting for her to cross its barrier again. Daring her.

Al-Janah grinned, beckoning the shade toward them with two fingers. "Well, I think we can take it..."
