Gabriel didn't like the idea of being out at night under the strange, continuing eclipse. The longer this went on, the more worried he became - eclipses were only supposed to last a few hours, not a few days.
What he liked even less was the idea of Des, who as far as he knew was a completely ordinary person with no magical powers, being out on his own. So when the purple-haired man had called him and asked to meet him for paintball and dinner after - well, he'd taken up the offer for more than one reason. Firstly, he actually really liked spending time with Desmond, and secondly, he wanted to keep him safe.
Paintball and dinner had actually been really fun, and he was a little tired but, well, totally worth it. "Thanks, Des. For inviting me. This was really great."

"Fun, but painful." Des laughed, poking at a dull bruise on his arm. "That was a good shot. You're better at this then I gave you credit for." He teased, punching Gabriel in the arm lightly. "Definitely kept me on my toes." The purplette stretched, with a lop sided grin on his face again. "We should take Cait sometime... Though I think she'd have us beat easy."

"Painful, yeah," Gabriel agreed, laughing quietly. "That was totally worth it, wow." He hadn't expected to be so good, but then, it was definitely the sort of thing he could get involved in. "Oh god, no, do not give Cait a weapon, I do not trust her." He shook his head firmly, and he used that as a vehicle to look around them and make sure there wasn't anything or anyone sneaking up.

"Yeah. I don't blame you." He laughed. "I think that would be the one time I'd feel safer with Alex around." His grin only grew. "She's gonna be mad we didn't bring her along. Never ceases to amaze me that girl. Cait picks up things remarkably fast."

"Alex would keep her from utterly destroying us, I think," Gabriel agreed, and hen he blinked slowly. "She doesn't read minds, does she?" Sometimes he wondered about that.

"Or just sit there and try and grope me..." Des grumbled. "Ya know sometimes I wonder.." But in all truth, Cait was just really good with people. "Ah. So I guess you're heading home now yeah?? Which way do you live? I'll walk you."

"Does he really do that to you?" Gabriel asked. "I mean, he hits on me a little, but not so much anymore," maybe it was because Gabriel and Lance were practically the sixth and seventh Masters kids. "Yeah, I was planning to. Uh, it's actually above a bookstore off Main Street; I work there and the owner let me have the apartment."

"Your naivety is adorable Angel... What he does to you is tame." The grin grew back again. "Ya know how you were using my side as a pillow on my birthday? Alex would have been hella jealous." He blinked. "That's pretty cool, beats an old fire house! How is it? Is it just you or do you have room-mates? Working at the bookstore I mean."

"J-jealous? But I mean, I was just sleeping on you," he said, flushing. It wasn't as if they'd been doing anything romantic or sexual. He swallowed and decided it was probably better to just discuss his job. And apartment. "It's just me and him at the store, and the apartment is all me. He lives in one of the suburbs outside the city? And I guess he hung onto the loft to rent it out, but I basically get it free because he feels bad for me."

"Insanely. Doesn't matter, I never let him do anything like that." Des asked as he brushed some of his hair outta his face. "That's pretty neat. What's the store about??" He blinked again, his brow furrowing. Felt bad for Gabriel? The purple haired boy was about to ask what he meant when there was a low hiss coming one of the allies near by. The pair was soon joined by someone else.
"....I uh, think you shot me harder then I originally thought Angel. I think I'm seeing double." Desmond said as he blinked at... himself? All of the sudden the thing lunged for Des's throat, tackling him too the ground. "Whoa there." Des grunted, working his foot up and under the things chest before shoving. "Not on the first date buddy." He growled.

Gabriel snorted quietly, shaking his head. Alex was ridiculous, for certain, and people called him the crazy one.
His head jerked over to where Des was indicating, and his eyes narrowed. "I see it too," he said. A washed-out copy of Des, who was looking the homicidal kind of happy. And then it attacked, and Gabriel's immediate reaction was to wrap an arm around the...thing and start pulling. "What the hell?" Where was a good place to slip off and power up? He would be a lot more useful as strong, magically-powered Captain Natron.

Des pulled himself up with a scowl. "Be careful Gabriel... We don't know what this thing is capable of..." The creature just hissed and growled, glaring at Gabriel and Des. Wrenching itself free from Gabriel, the clone made a swipe at the bruenette before trying to tackle Desmond again. This time, it missed as Des ducked and rolled out of the way. "I want you to get out of here." Des shot over at Gabriel.

"No, but it's not up to any good," Gabriel said firmly. Not when he could do something. Sure, he was small, and he certainly didn't look it, but while some of his skill was in the extra powers granted by the Negaverse, sheer practice and swinging around a mace had built up some serious muscle. He kicked at the thing, trying to send it away from Des. "I'm not going to let it get you, are you crazy?"

The thing just growled, swiping at Gabriel's leg. "Go Die." He hissed at Des. "And I don't want it to get to you so the feeling mu-" Des was cut off as he got tackled again. "Son of a b***h.." Des growled.

Gabriel jumped out of the way of the leg sweep. He narrowed his eyes, assessing the situation. "I promise, Des, it's not gonna hurt me." He was a soldier, trained in the field, and while it wasn't a traditional martial arts education, it was a year of fighting people who could kill him and not dying and sometimes killing them. "Get off him!" Gabriel growled, and then he threw all his body weight into a low tackle, trying to get the thing off Des and pin it under him.
