► Azreth is fiercely loyal and has a strong sense of justice instilled in him at a young age by his father, the late King. He is highly intelligent, being known as a near-prodigy when it comes to tactics, but he's also quite rash at certain times. He's quite proud, almost to a fault, but his huge heart outweighs the former personality quirk. He will move mountains and part seas for any person that needs him -- especially his friends or those that count on him -- and damn the consequences if someone gets in his way.
To many, Azreth comes off as cocky and self-sure, though in reality, it's a facade, as he's still unsure if he has what it takes to not only be a good King, but to help humanity in their fight against the Titans. Azreth has high moral reservations and a very strong conscience -- which can be a hindrance at times. He would give up anything for his friends, Subjects, and Squad-Mates, and always does his best to ensure their safety and well-being, even if it means he could be killed, injured or traumatized in the process. Though he can be flippant and cocky, Azreth's duty -- both as a friend and as the King -- comes before anything, and the burden of the Crown weighs very, very heavily on his shoulders.

► Azreth grew up in the safe confines of Wall Sina, being the son and heir to one of the Noble families within the innermost wall -- in fact, if the King should fall, Azreth's father was next in line for the Crown. Since his mother had joined the Scouting Legion six years after he was born -- and failed to come home, being killed on her fourth scouting expedition -- his father, Alec, brought Azreth up alone, drilling into him to always be loyal to family and friends. Alec put constant pressure on the boy to grow up to be a proper Lord, teaching him etiquette, noble protocols, horsemanship, and dozens of subjects, including the histories, maths, and literature. Because of this, Azreth was known as the bookish sort among his friends growing up, but what none of them knew -- Lord Alec included -- was that Azreth wanted nothing more than to follow in his mother's footsteps. thanks to his deep pockets, Azreth was able to procure a set of 3DMG off of the Black Market. When he was eleven, he went behind his father's back and hired a Colonel of the Stationary Legion, who taught him basic, intermediate, and advanced combat skills as the years passed.
Azreth was seventeen when his best friend, Rory -- along with thousands of others working the farms in Wall Maria -- was eaten by Titans, and against his father's outrage, the boy announced was going to enlist in the military. However, before Azreth had a chance to sign up, Lord Deservian whisked the teenager away to their country manor just outside of Wall Rose, along with most of the House -- though Alec left the old Colonel behind, much to the young boy's disappointment.
While training with his katar by himself, he met a young man around his age named Nikolaus LeSaynt, who was the only son in a family of Wallists. After spending time with Azreth, watching and helping as the young Lord trained, the two became fast friends. They soon began training together, and the months turned into years, with the two boys becoming nigh inseparable, even though. so the young Lord had to learn how to use his 3D Maneuver Gear on his own. Azreth had to make do with learning how to fight by himself, and because of this, he developed a specialized -- if eccentric -- style of fighting.
Because Azreth was tall and lean, he didn't have the inherent strength that men like Nik were gifted with, so he instead focused his training to specialize in agility and speed. Many of the Deservian Guards laughed at his strange fighting style, as he used almost circus-like acrobatics during his training with Nik but the results it produced soon had them eating their words. In just under two years, Azreth grew from a quiet, scholarly type into a harder, more refined version of himself.
Azreth was nineteen when they left their winter manor to return to their palatial home inside of Wall Sina. Since he and Nik had to part ways, Azreth swore to his best friend that they would meet again in the Cadets. The young Lord gave his friend a gold ring set with an emerald -- one that matched his own -- to symbolize their promise, which they still wear to this day. On the third day of their journey home, Azreth and his father had a terrible fight, as Azreth still insisted he was going to join the Cadets when they returned. Because they nearly came to blows over that fact, Azreth was shadowing the caravan as they made their way through a forest, riding his blue roan stallion, Belphegor, between the trees and off of the path. When he heard the first screams, Azreth knew something was terribly, terribly wrong. He spurred Varian ruthlessly onward, and as he broke through the line of trees, he felt his heart shatter: his father in the hand of a Titan. He threw caution to the wind and used his 3DMG to swoop in towards the Titan.
Because he didn't have any official training, he didn't have the first idea of how to kill a Titan -- nor did he know how quickly they healed -- he was grabbed out of the air. Caught in the Titan's left hand, with his father in the right, Azreth watched as his father was eaten and realized that his life was over. But just as the Titan opened its mouth, a young man a little older than Azreth came flying out of nowhere from the trees and sliced the monstrosity's fingers, grabbing the Lordling and taking him up to safety of the treetops. Azreth begged the older boy to stay with him, but his pleas fell upon deaf ears as the man continued on his way, chasing down the Titans that had utterly destroyed the caravan. Azreth was hugging his knees to his chest, rocking back and forth as he cried on top of the branch when Nikolaus found him.
There, the two watched as everything that Azreth had known was destroyed in front of his eyes, turning to nothing but memories, blood, and ash, leaving Azreth the sole heir to the Deservian name. With all of his extended family killed, Azreth used and channeled the rage he felt towards Titans. While he and Nik made their way back through Wall Rose, Azreth heard some startling news: apparently, two Titans had fought within the walls of Sina. To his utter surprise -- and dismay -- Azreth heard that the King had been killed when the palace was crushed.
When he returned home, he was immediately detained by the Military Police and taken to the Council Chamber, where preparations were made to crown him King. The next few weeks sped by in a blur, and before he knew it, the eighteen year old was crowned King. The only thing that kept the young man sane was the friendship of Nik, and when things settled down again, Azreth told Nik that he hadn't changed his mind about joining the Military, even though he was now the King. Some days later, after setting his affairs in order, Azreth packed two bags and left the royal Palace -- against the advice of just about everyone -- swearing vengeance on the group of Titans that had destroyed everything he loved.
After years of training, King Azreth Deservian entered the Scouting Legion and made his mother's memory proud, quickly rising through the ranks and becoming a Captain. Now, Azreth focuses all he has towards putting the advanced education he learned as a boy into using all he knows against the Titans. He fervently believes that humanity stands a fighting chance against the fetters of hopelessness and despair keeping them chained within the Walls, and he will do everything in his power as King to free mankind from the iron rule of the Titans.
