How often did he come here now? He was at the beach almost every chance he got. Maybe it reminded him of home, of escaping the house in Florida away from his crazy father, his abused mother, and the ghost tormenting them.
Maybe it was just because the beach was big enough that you rarely ran into anyone unless they had to patrol that area.
It was likely the later. His clothes where piled carefully on a small towel, his bathing suite on as he lazily dragged Sylvia behind him in the sand leaving marks and swirls in his wake. Every once in a while he would stretch and go through a series of motions spinning the whole scythe in pinwheels of steel before snapping it apart and lunging at a foe up close and back into the spinning. He was humming all the while.

Jordan wandered slowly down the beach. He'd left his shoes up at the edge of the dunes near the main path back towards the complex, and now he just walked barefoot along the smooth wet sand where the waves washed up onto the beach, letting the cool water splash and rush over his feet as he walked. From time to time he picked up a stone or a shell from the sand and carried it with him for a little while before dropping it again or tossing it out into the water. He spotted a figure partway up the beach; as he got closer, he could see that it was a familiar one. Ro, wearing a bathing suit and either training or just messing around, or maybe a combination of the two. The dividing line between the concepts wasn't always clear. Jordan waved in greeting as he got closer, slowing down a little; if Ro looked like he wanted company, Jordan would stop, but otherwise he'd just continue his walk.

Over and over the scythe went, curtains of sand blasting up into the air with each swing as Roland continued to roam about the sands. He was off in his own world continuing to swing and slash as Sylvia sipped at ambient fear in the air, it wasn't enough to charge her but the shores where reeking of it thanks to all the monsters roaming near the island. Finally he stopped taking notice of Jordan as he let Sylvia's tip bury into the sand.
"Hey," he waved back, then paused for a moment looking at Sylvia, "Can I borrow some of your fear shield?" He added suddenly.

Jordan's eyebrows went up, and he headed up the beach closer to Ro. "What's up?" he asked, not sure what Ro meant by that. Ferros's ring lit; the dragon was also paying close attention. That didn't quite sound like an invitation to a spar, but it might be, and Ferros was mildly hungry himself.

Roland reached behind him grabbing Sylvia hauling her tip out of the sand as he marched towards Jordan resting the scythe over his shoulder. He stopped just short of Jordan shrugging. "Nothing really. Sylvia is just wound up because she couldn't use a charge during the fighting tournament." He reached the weapon out towards Jordan offering the tip. "Three pokes should be enough yeah?"

Jordan laughed quietly. "I hear you, dude." Ferros materialized in his hand, and he brought the weapon up into a guard position. "Go ahead."

"Oh come on now, I'm not going to hit you THAT hard." He shifted the weapon around reaching out towards the other hunther taking the flat of the blade before giving him a light bop on the head, accompanied with an unheard boop from Sylvia when it happened.
"We just need a little fear is all."
Charge: 1/3

"Ferros didn't manage a charge either," Jordan said. His stance relaxed, but he didn't desummon Ferros yet. "He was not too pleased with me." A half shrug. "Maybe next time, right?"

"Yeah I can imagine a few weapons being upset about it." He paused, "And hunters too who could have ended fights." He tapped Jordan again. "I don't think Rin's too happy with me considering my win against her..."

Jordan angled Ferros to allow the light tap to land against the hammer's handle. "It's nothing personal," he said. "I imagine she knows that. Well, I'd hope so, anyway."
Ferros puffed a soft, silent huff of a sigh. Real spar soon, he said hopefully.
Yeah, we'll find someone for a proper fight.

Sylvia purred as the second charge filled her, a gentle tug from Roland cause the blade to hook around Ferro's handle elating all kinds of giggles from the ghoul in his head. "I know it's not personal, but... something cracked during that, I was vicious, I was attacking her like she was one of them like when I lopped off the head of a mindflayer."
Raising up his weapon again her gave the tip of the hammer a light tap sighing faintly as both weapon and hunter relaxed.

"Hm. That's not a good sign. Did anything in particular seem to trigger it? Did you feel like you were aware of yourself and in control, or was it more like watching from a distance?" Jordan asked, a small frown of concern making its way onto his face.
Ferros rumbled wordlessly, his runes lighting up as the third tap made contact.

"Maybe the three times she could have opened my head up with her axe had I never had a shield?" He started to pace away from Jordan back into the sand marks he had made. "I was aware, I was aware I wanted to win, to live, to get to the next round and maybe fight someone else." He didn't mention who or why.
"I felt the way I did when that monster had her tendrils around my neck, my shield low..." He tilted his head raising Sylvia starting to spin her about.
"It was primal."
His swings picked up speed and finally he took a small hop raising her in both hands before smashing the weapon into the sand, both hunter and weapon letting out a scream that reflected in the air as the blast went off. Thin red lines, small cuts opened up rapidly over Roland's body before stitching themselves up just as quick as the sand around him was blown back in a small circle. Blowing up the sand into the air showing the shape of the small egg like shell of sound around the hunter about as wide as his weapon could reach.
Finally it was over and Roland let out a sigh. "I needed that, we both needed that."

Jordan stepped back, resting Ferros over his shoulder and watching as Sylvia's charge went off, wincing a little at the volume of the shriek. He was grateful that Ferros's Fear wasn't sound-based. It was always interesting to watch someone else's weapon perform, whether or not you were actually on the receiving end of the charge.
When the howling blast of sand died down, he nodded and held Ferros up horizontally in front of him. The weapon's runes flashed, and a swirling cloud of steam came hissing out of the vents on the hammer's head. It drifted over to wreathe around Ro, the warm steam soothing away any remaining sting from the scratches. Ferros sighed with satisfaction in Jordan's mind.
Jordan lowered Ferros again and desummoned him. "I guess the most important question is whether you feel like you can keep yourself from hurting an ally, or whether it gets away from you," he said thoughtfully. He sat down in the sand, leaning back on his hands. "Fighting for your life feels different from sparring, usually."

The warm mist slipping over him was relaxing, it felt like stepping into a warm shower room. Tingling and tickling away the last of the bite from his charge. The charge hadn't hurt per-say, it had been kept in check and not to much excessive damage has lashed back at him this time, but the gesture was still welcomed none the less.
Sylvia vanished as well, a small silver and green copy of her appearing to dangle from Roland's ear. "I think... for the most part I can. Yes. There are situations that might... dictate other wise. I'm not happy or sad about that it's simply just the truth I think."
He turned back to Jordan, "With you it's a spar, with Nevada, well, if she follows through with her threats it's going to be far from a spar."
