Sun Hunter SHADOW RUN General Information The Shadow Run is both the simplest and most dangerous training course that can be run without a golem. A flurry of continuous attacks is what the Sun Division holds in highest respect, and the course reflects that. The course itself is a simple tunnel, reached via portal. Within the tunnel await hundreds of weak, hungry shadowlings. Nothing to worry about on their own, but capable of overwhelming a Hunter through sheer numbers at the first moment of weakness. At the other end of the tunnel is another portal, leading back to the course observation booth.
If you fail: your character is KO'd, but there's always a senior hunter in the observation booth with enhanced bandages at the ready. They should reach you in time. Really. Trained and trusty professionals on-hand 24/7.
If you win: peen points and bragging rights to those who take out the greatest number of shadowlings and go the most turns without needing to attempt a recovery maneuver.
Mechanics You must get through 5 waves of attacks to make it through the tunnel. Simply roll for attack as you would in battle. If you miss, your character falters in their attacking and is overwhelmed by shadowlings. After 3 successful hits, you may use your weapon's charge attack.

It was time, perhaps, to pursue some of the solo training. He had experienced numerous spars in recent days-- it was clear that he was rusty at actual combat beyond pointing and shooting. He was dressed in a band shirt, sweatpants, and his (only) pair of boots on beneath them. Syntax's token chirped in his hand, a cheerful creature content to destroy any mobs he encountered.
He shut the door and locked it behind him, as it was empty. (Of course it was. It was always empty.)
Kostya was startled to see his next door neighbor outside as well. "Privyet," he said, as he always did when he forgot he was no longer surrounded by people that knew his mother tongue.

Shiloh’s mind was preoccupied with many things, but furthering his training wasn’t a thought of priority. It was a necessity, something that he could achieve without thinking, and focus on to try and get some sort of grip on the more pressing matters that swirled around his head. Thus he was determined to get some practice in, wherever he could, thinking that if he could find solo work, that would be best, away from the distractions that came with spars with fellow hunters. Of course, his inner monologue was audible only to him, and when he looked up to see his neighbor standing outside of his door, the only thing Kostya would see was his usual smile, perhaps dimmer in its brightness than usual, but plastered permanently on his face all the same. “Privwhat?” he asked, chuckling as an instinctive reaction to not understanding.

One day, Konstantin would steadily remember that he was no longer in Tyumen.
Today was not that day.
He levelled a blank face at the pink-haired hunter, not in any callous way, but simply out of habit. He didn't emote much, if at all, unless circumstances were dire.
"Sorry. Am meaning to be saying...hello. Am Konstantin."
He tilted his head. "Have seen around, some. Am moving soon, but vant to say greetings, before do."

Shiloh, who aside from Deus probably had never been farther than the next city over from his small little hometown, was often surprised meeting those who came from places far foreign to him. But he smiled widely, and offered his hand. He'd seen the other hunter around too; after all, they were neighbors, even if they had never gotten past a cursory nod hello. “Konstantin,” Shiloh repeated, surely butchering the pronunciation, but he tried. “I’m Shiloh, it’s nice to meet you. Moving huh? And we’ve only just met.” He laughed, reaching up to push his bangs out of his eyes. “Well, for what its worth, you were a very good neighbor, quiet and respectful, heh… Where you moving to? Off island?”

Kostya stared blankly at the hand for a moment, and did not offer one back. Guilt nagged at him, but at the moment, he was ungloved, and that meant physical contact was out of the question. He felt a significant amount of nausea wash over him at the idea of skin-to-skin contact, and he edged just a little bit away, just in case the friendly guy was a little too friendly.
"Is nice to be meeting you," he replied, because while he didn't want to touch the other hunter, it didn't mean he didn't want to be friends. "Thank you," Kostya accepted, taking the compliment quite seriously, pride swelling in his chest. "Moving to basement. Am now, though, go to be training. Is good vorkout, vith veapon."
Looking thoughtful, Kostya squinted a little as he tried to determine how running challenges made him feel.
"Is...Fun. Hard, still fun. Have done?"

Kostya didn’t return his handshake, but he wasn’t mean about it. In fact, Shiloh couldn’t quite understand the expression on his neighbor’s face but he seemed sincere enough in his words so Shiloh let his hand drop, smiling back at Kostya instead. “Basement, huh?” he said. “You guys are all crazy, moving down there. What’s the appeal?” Shiloh liked his dorm, with its normal walls, lack of torture chambers, and most importantly, its access the sun. “Really? I was thinking about heading that way too,” Shiloh grinned, holding up the keychain that was his weapon. “Always a good workout. Good practice, too. I haven’t done any of the, uh, special ones yet though, you know. Maybe I should… Have you?”

"Ahh." He shrugged. "Living situation-- things...they have being changed." Kostya latched on to the change of subject, because talking about it still hurt. Just a little.
(More than a little. It hurt in ways he could not comprehend. it concerned him in ways that concerned him that he was concerned.)
"Company vould be appreciated. Am going to do vun now, is being run of shadows. Very fast. Many strikes." He imitated a firing of his gun, pantomiming. "Let us be going?"

“Ah,” Shiloh responded similarly. “Trouble in paradise, huh?” He smiled, but that was the extent of his prying. Truthfully, he was starting to think that things involving the other occupant of 144 were probably best better left unsaid, though he wondered if she intended on moving to the basement as well. It seemed to be where everyone was headed, though Shiloh couldn’t fathom why. Still, he reminded himself, no prying. Things are better left unknown. The less you know, the less you get hurt. Shiloh was terrible at following his own advice, but the expression on Kostya’s face kept him from asking further questions. “That sounds difficult,” was what he did say, the smile still on his face. “I’m in.”

Kostya merely shrugged his shoulders, not eager to divulge more information than he absolutely had to, especially regarding Mimsy.
However, he did brighten up (in posture, not in face) at Shiloh's assessment that a challenge was interesting. That was a fact that they could agree upon. He led them both to the Shadow Run, where countless creatures laid in wait.
Pushing open the door, Kostya summoned his weapon, his determination showing with a grim slash of his mouth.
"Attack," is all he said, eyeing the shadowlings ahead. "Must get five rounds clear. Is not as easy as it is sounding."
He fired.

Shiloh followed Kostya through the door, and it didn’t sound as difficult as he warned, the shadowlings weren’t very big, maybe up to his knee, he thought as he squinted in their direction. He summoned his weapon quickly, heaving her up and into his hands. Shiloh thought Haruko was pretty decent at long range but Kostya’s gun was far more efficient, taking down several shadowlings with ease while Shiloh fumbled around with Haruko’s chain, trying to get better leverage with which to swing her. It took only those few moments for the shadowlings to grab hold with their dark little claws, holding him back from joining Kostya in the next round as he tried his best to deal with them. It would seem Kostya had been right. Status Wave: 1Attack Dmg: Miss Total Shadowlings taken out: 0Recoveries left: 0

"Do not vorry," he said to Shiloh upon his return, "failing, it can be normal. Your veapon seem awfully big." Especially in such a confined corridor: it was a wonder Shiloh could control it enough to keep it from hitting himself. He was impressed. With ruthless accuracy, Kostya fired at a cluster of shadowlings, taking another step forward, entering the fray. "But am betting it hits very hard, da?" “Yeah, she’s pretty, uh,” he paused himself from saying hefty, but he’d thought it and Haruko made her dissatisfaction known, as hefty wasn’t a particularly flattering word no matter how apt the description. “Pretty powerful! I’m still getting used to moving her around.” Kostya, on the other hand, seemed completely at home with his weapon, the gun firing and taking out more of the shadowlings as Kostya moved ahead. His performance was as encouraging as his words, and Shiloh tried again, this time managing to bowl over several of the shadowy creatures.
