I've always been a fan of the idea of peace. And I love colorful rainbows so when I walked into a Claire's one day and found a beautiful peace sign necklace I wore it every day. But then I found out where peace signs actually came from. If you don't know about their history this will be quite informative for you. As it was for me.
There's a shocking number of articles that claim the peace sign was invented in 1958 by Gerald Holtom. Although that's only half true. The peace sign was actually created much time before then. And not by our standards of peace. It all comes down basically to proclaim hate towards Christians.

I don't remember exactly when I stopped drawing and wearing peace sign jewelery. It used to be really big when I was younger (I guess it still is though...), but I remember having a ring of it once, and my grandmother scolded me for it and told me it was bad and I think she gave me a bit of a history lesson on it, saying it was a broken cross or something like that...
All I know is, I think that was when I started feeling convicted of it and stopped doing so...but it might've been later in life, I'm not sure anymore. ^^;;
But yeah, I do know it's not good. I'm still not exactly sure why, I'll have to check out some of those articles. :3

well actually the symbol is deprived from norse pagan languages. the symbol for man and the symbol for woman and the symbol for man...combined is the symbol for God. however enclosing the rune within a circle means eternity....though not sure what in accordance to norse paganism what turning something up side down means which is what the peace sign is. though really it is far more likely it shares its fate with the swastika seeing that the swastika comes from about 47 various cultures including japanese chinese indian native american african and yes even norse runes.
in most cases like with Buddhists its something along the lines of tranquility...though i am not entirely sure so don't quote me on the meaning at least
