Saji stood at the edge of the garganta, his eyes staring into the vast space that lie beyond. His stare was unwavering as he considered how well this mission might go, or how badly it might fail. It had only been a few days since he received news of the capture of one of his soldiers who was now stuck in the hellish world that was in front of the captain. What was truly bothering Saji though was that he had decided to go in alone without telling the squad itself. Why you might ask? There were many reasons the soul reaper had for going alone but perhaps the most prominent one of them all was that he didn't want to chance any more captures. Already one member had been stolen away, this left the idea that if he brought even a small group in if they were to fail it would lead to even more captures. This left him with the obvious path to take in order to make things clean and simple. If he failed he might be able to escape without fatality of himself, though for the captured member that was hard to say. If he were to succeed then there would be zero chance for losses. It was a fine plan and it left him not exactly happy but perhaps more content then what the other choices might have given him.

Adjusting his zanpakuto and making sure he had everything the captain waited a few more second before stepping through the garganta, immediately slamming it shut behind him as he stood in hueco mundos vast desert. The moon hung high in the sky as the barren wasteland seemed to come to life in a form of welcome to the shinigami, wind picking up as it dragged the sand through the air and around Saji. He would pull up his white scarf around his mouth and close his eyes to focus for a few moments on the member’s reiastu signature. If lady luck did truly exist it was on the captain’s side as he felt the signature only a few kilometers away. The downside to it though was that it felt.....weaker. Without thinking about this too much he would shunpo out across the desert, only ever coming out of it for a mere second before he was off again. Out of the many captains in the soul society Saji was well known for his perfection of the flash step so after not much more than a few seconds he found himself on top of a massive dune, overlooking the gored battle scene.

What the captain now saw was the member of his squad, surrounded by what would best be called a horde of hollows. It was tough to say exactly how many there were of the creatures but what was certain was that many more were starting to gather, attracted by the scent of battle and the reiastu of the shinigami. The bloodlust must have been very high for very few hollows even noticed the captain standing there. Saji stood on top of the sand dune and began to focus his reiastu, not quite unleashing it until it was highly concentrated. Then with a large flash of crimson the captain’s reiastu washed over the area, causing many of the hollows to let out screams of fear or roars of anger towards the captain. Well before they were focused on the weak member now a new pray had shown itself, and the promise of a powerful soul to feast on caused most of the hollows to begin to swarm towards the dune. In an odd sight though Saji didn't shown a sign of fear, or even anger. Instead what passed across the captain’s face was a small smile as he watched the monster encroach on his position, his body not moving until they were very close.

In a moment of movement the captain drew his zanpakuto in a flash and shunpo'd down the dune at great speeds, allowing his body to spin like a top as he smashed through the hordes of hollows. Because his zanpakuto was so heavy this made the feat much easier to pull off as well as give him a much faster spinning motion. In a few moments he stopped himself in front of the squad member, who at this point was staring wide eye at his captain. Saji merely responded to this with another smile as the hollow blood dripped off of him. However it was no time for a reunion as a good amount of hollows remained behind, infuriated by the sudden slaughter they would begin to move even faster towards the two shinigami. A garganta though appeared behind the member, just on time as had been planned. Without warning the captain shoved the member through as passed through the portal, slamming it down once again behind him.

Both shinigami would find themselves in the squad 12 laboratory, surrounded by ex-tactic scientists. What had been done was that by putting a chip in Saji they were able to open a portal a few moments after his reiastu had reached a critical level. Through that and a well-timed attack the team and Saji were able to get the member out quickly and safely, the mission being a solid success. Even better though was that Saji hadn't needed to use any of his releases or even much more than a few shunpo's. He always liked it when his opponents didn't know what was coming to them, and he hoped that the hollows would never learn what he was capable of until it was too late.
