She was out patrolling again. It was strange how habit forming it could be, going out and just walking the streets. Of course, she was telling herself that all she wanted to do was see every bit of Halloween that the city had to offer…and she was doing a pretty good job at it.
Sure there were things and people to run into, but most of the time Albireo just ran from any sort of meetings. She didn’t want to deal with it. Didn’t want to deal with talking or explaining herself, because…well. To be frank, it was none of their goddamn business who she was or what she was doing. She liked being under the radar…and she liked being…well.
Alone. She really just liked being alone.
Tonight was no different. She sat on a rooftop, looking up at the night sky. The moon was beautiful tonight. Completely beautiful. With a sigh, Albireo shook her head. The moon’s light was not for her. Not anymore. She had squandered that benefit in her life.
The corrupted senshi paused for a moment, giving a slight frown. There was a power signature somewhere close by…that just felt odd. It was an order presence, that was for sure…but it felt weaker than anything she had ever felt on their side.
Well. Perhaps this was a night that she wouldn’t be alone…a spark of curiousity had ignited in her and she wanted to find out just what or who that was. She leapt off of the building, giving a graceful leap down onto the street below then took off, her long hair trailing behind her as she moved towards the aura. Finally she stopped and stared. It was a kid.
A child senshi? So this really was a thing? Or was it just someone a little early for Halloween? Or just a boy with a terrible sense of fashion? She blinked. “Who are you?”

Goretti yelped when the girl appeared before him; he had been vaguely aware of her energy signature, though he still had a lot to learn about this whole war.
Learning to tell the difference between an ally and an enemy would have been great, but it seemed there were still new auras showing up on his radar. He wasn't sure what to expect—she didn't feel like any of the Negaverse Agents he'd met—and she looked like a senshi…
But she didn't feel like the other senshi he knew.
While he was typically friendly and bubbly, he knew that he should at least be careful. It was dark and dangerous and he had no idea who—or what—he was dealing with.
So he did the most logical thing: he grinned and introduced himself.
"Goretti," he answered pleasantly, eyes scanning her attire as best he could. The moonlight allowed him a good idea ofw hat she looked like, but it was still so dark. Why else would it look like she was wearing so much black?
"I'm a chibi senshi. Of Glue," he continued proudly. "But I…I don't really know who or what you are."
He hesitated, wanting very badly to stick out his hand to shake, but he didn't want to get hurt. And she seemed friendly! She could have easily jumped down from wherever she came and landed on him if she wanted to fight…so she couldn’t be bad, right?
"You're…a senshi, right? But…you feel different from the other ones I met…" He seemed thoughtful as he looked again at the blacks on her outfit—focusing on the strange wings for a moment before his eyes drifted back to her face.
In that moment, he looked concerned. "Are you okay?"

Goretti…of glue. That was interesting. Albireo didn’t speak for a long moment, just looking the child up and down a few more times before nodding. “A chibi senshi? I’m afraid that’s not a term that I’m really familiar with, would you mind explaining?”
She hesitated for a moment, then shook her head, extending a hand. “My name is Albireo. I suppose it’s nice to meet you, Goretti.”
She didn’t really want to talk about why she felt different, though she was almost annoyed that the chibi could feel it right off the bat like that…She was…disgusting, wasn’t she? With the hole in her chest, she was just…a disgusting thing. Tainted. Ruined.
Albireo closed her eyes for a moment, drawing in a breath. “I’m fine, don’t worry about me, Goretti. I’m just fine.”
Lies. All lies. Always lies.

Goretti watched her carefully for a second, as if doubting her words; he didn't dwell for long before he shrugged and was smiling up at her. "You haven't met a chibi senshi? Man, I can't tell if you're lucky or unlucky! Lucky because I get to explain, unlucky because…I'm kinda not the best at explaining. I haven't been doing this for too super long, so I know I'm still trying to learn everything and not forget it. But, it's nice to meet you, Albireo!"
He waved, and then jumped into trying to answer her question. "So far as I know, a Chibi Senshi isn't really any different from any other senshi except we're…just not as old? And I don't know about the other chibis, but sometimes my attack doesn't work and I think that goes away when you're just a normal senshi. Which I kinda figured would happen once I hit a growth spurt, you know? Like your power is directly related to how much power you can store inside you? So when I hit my growth spurt," as he was so determined he was going to, "I'll get to be as strong as everyone else. I mean, I'm already faster than most people—so I really like that. Wish I could use that when I wasn't powered up. It'd make soccer so much easier."
…But it was kind of a cheat, and Goretti didn't want to win if it wasn't honestly.
He looked up at the senshi again and didn't seem bothered by any bit of her appearance; instead, he still seemed to be admiring it. "Your hair is long. It's really pretty. I bet it takes forever to wash it. Do you ever trip on it?"

Ah. He was new at all of this, no wonder he wasn’t showing any fear at her being there. Well, this was both good and bad…She sighed heavily. Later. At the end of the meeting, she would show him why it wasn’t smart to talk to senshi’s who wore black.
Even though she really didn’t want to, he seemed like a nice enough boy…
She even smiled as he spoke of getting better after his growth spurt and playing soccer…he was just so…happy. So innocent. It wasn’t fair that he had gotten mixed up in this stupid war, it wasn’t fair that people would target him, hurt him…he didn’t deserve that, didn’t deserve that at all. She blinked as he mentioned her hair and she reached out, touching it gently. “…It is long, isn’t it? I don’t know. It’s only this long when I’m a senshi…Something about me turning from…you know, who I am in the day to day and becoming Albireo…my hair grows a lot…and honestly…it’s kind of annoying…”
Everything was annoying, why was she even bothering to power up again? What was the point of it all…
It just wasn’t fair. These questions weren’t supposed to keep coming up. She was supposed to have been happy. Why was she never happy with anything? It just…wasn’t fair.

"Ah," Goretti said, lips pursing in thought. "My hair doesn't grow like that. Maybe it only works for girls."
He'd have looked pretty sill if he'd had hair as long as hers. "You know, Albireo, you're pretty strong," he noted. "How…did you get so strong? I've been thinking about it a lot lately. I mean, everyone is always talking about all this fighting and stuff. I'd rather not fight, but I really want to protect the people that are important to me. So I mean, can I ask how you got so strong? And what I have to do to make sure everyone I care about stays safe?"
She must have been around for a while—even if she didn't know what a chibi was, he figured she had to know more about other things to make it to be that powerful!
…And he wanted to be stronger. He didn't want to have to worry about his wellbeing or worry that there would come a day when he couldn't protect himself or his friends or his father.

She looked at him for a long moment, weighing the question. “I…I don’t know. I just…patrolled a lot. Fought off…youma and tried to hold my own against other…things, you know? It took a lot of time…and patience and then one day…well. Look at me now…”
Albireo closed her eyes for a long moment, then sighed. “If you keep trying, and keep growing and learning…one day you’ll have wings too. Beautiful white wings. And you’ll be strong. An eternal senshi, that’s what you’ll be. I don’t know if you’ll still be a chibi or not, but you’ll be strong. You just have to keep trying, Goretti. Don’t you ever give up, okay?”
There. Perhaps that would be a good lead in. A good lead in for her to tell him what not to do. For her to show him that right now, he was playing with fire. Very much playing with fire.
But she didn’t want to have to burn him. Didn’t want that at all.

Goretti's eyes narrowed just a bit and he tilted his head. He was appreciative of the information and nodded. He could keep patrolling. Keep fighting off youma, and whatever bad people he ran into that were only out there to cause trouble and hurt people. Time, he had. Patience…he could try. It didn't matter how long it took; he wasn't going to give up…he just wanted to be stronger, now…
He wanted white wings. Pretty, fluffy white wings, like Lenka.
"I won't give up," he promised, though suddenly felt like he was walking on ice as he stared at her wings. "…Why are yours different?"

Albireo gave a small, satisfied smile as he asked. Good. So he wasn’t dumb. That was very good…it wouldn’t do the white moon any good if their…’chibi senshi’, were stupid…
“Why are mine different?” She did a slow spin, letting him fully see her black, bat like buttwings. “Because I’m not of the white moon…not anymore. I used to be…but now…now I’m a corrupted senshi. I work with the negaverse.” In theory she did, at least…right now she just…worked for herself. So whatever.
The senshi looked back at Goretti and took a step closer. “You can see the hole in my chest where General King Zinkenite put his hand in and corrupted my starseed.” There was no remorse in her voice. She wanted to frighten the child. Wanted him to be careful who he talked to. Wanted him to perhaps realize that not everyone who landed in front of him wanted to talk.
Because she knew that not all of them would.

Goretti was again suspicious, but he couldn't be mad…Albireo was still a senshi, and she still seemed nice. He almost took a step backwards when he approached, but curiosity was a terrible trait, and often landed him in plenty of trouble. He swallowed, staring into the hole.
"He sounds scary," he said—and while he might not have understood just how scary it must have been, it was enough to send a shiver down his spine and speckle his flesh with goosebumps. "I've never met him. Or heard of anyone that was General King. I met two Captains, though. I don't…understand. You used to be with the White Moon, but now you aren't? Can I ask…can I ask why? Everyone always said the Negaverse was the bad guys, why would you want to work with them?"

Albireo was ready for fear, for the child to run off and hide from her forever…she wasn’t expecting questions. Wasn’t ready for them.
There was a lump in her throat when he asked why she would go to the Negaverse and she shook her head. “You wouldn’t understand…I just wasn’t happy with the white moon…I was…miserable and I wanted a chance at being happy…”
And then she realized that it had only made her more unhappy to make the switch. She closed her eyes for a long moment, then shook his head. “You shouldn’t keep talking to me. You should have run off. You should fear me. I am a bad guy, so just go. Seriously, kid. Go.”
There was a pain in her chest that had nothing to do with the hole there…she wanted to cry. Wanted to crawl into her bed and just cry. Maybe forever. It wasn’t fair. Why hadn’t life been as it should have been? She wanted to be happy, damnit. She didn’t want t be here, talking to a chibi senshi, and regretting every decision she had ever made. Damnit.
“If you don’t go, I will. So. Goodbye.” She turned away from him and began to walk away. She didn’t need this. Didn’t want this.
To be honest, she couldn’t stand it.

Guilt consumed the chibi, who suddenly felt bad for his curiosity. He regretted asking his questions and wished he'd been able to keep his mouth shut.
He didn't feel scared, just bad.
She wanted to go—and he could understand that. He would leave her be, and he'd just go find Lenka and ask her to help him understand. But he didn't want to leave on those terms. "Sorry," he called. "You—you don't seem so bad!"
Unless she wanted to be bad? But who would want to be bad?
She had just seemed like she wanted him to take care of himself…and she had even given him good advice. She couldn’t be a bad guy if she was giving him tips for how to stay safe…
He swallowed; this was too confusing, and he didn't want to set her off or get in trouble with her any more than he already had. After he called out, he turned and ran; she had wanted him to run, hadn't she? So, he ran. He ran until he was safe and could power down—and then he snuck back into his house and crawled into bed.
Tonight hadn't made sense, and he still didn't feel like he had any idea what was going on in this war.
But he had friends who did, and he knew he could go to them. He knew they would help.
