Al sat on the cold hard exam table looking annoyed with his shirt off and shoulder wrapped in a bandage soaked through with blood. He was fine. This was only a follow up to make sure he was healed enough to ditch the bandages entirely. Hopefully he won't be changing into more after this.
He shot the door a defiant look.

Check-ups and bandage changes were left to grunt work signups, and Melvin had his shift today with Infirmary duties. The door creaked open, and he walked in to see a hunter he barely noticed wandering the halls once in a great while. Since he stuck mainly to the Life building, he really didn't get away from that area much.
Closing the door, he looked at the chart and then at the dirty bandages on the man. "You're here for......." He trailed off as he read. "...checkup?" He looked up at Al, and then at the bandages. "How long has it been since you changed those?"

"I haven't. Though, last time they did was yesterday." Al was giving Melvin a strange look like he had no clue who the hell he was but was uncertain if he should. Was he..... uh... no, not him. No.
It was bothering him.
"Aye, also a checkup."

He continued to read the chart. "Whenever your bandages get dirty, no matter how long it's been since you last changed them, change them again. Hunters think that having a fear shield makes you invincible, you keeping wounds clean is still important, especially when your own fear shield is low due to a previous injury." He rattled, the words something he had said a million times before to other hunters.
Setting the clipboard on the counter, he went over, took off his gloves, put them in his pocket, washed his hands, and then put on two pairs of latex gloves. "You name is Al? Not Albert or something else?" He started to pick out clean bandages, bandage pads, bandage clip, and some cleaning solutions. He set this on a nearby cart and moved it over.
"So, what's the injury?"

Al bobbed his head and rolled his eyes at the lecture. Yeah yeah mom, whatever you say. Just change my bandages already so I can get out of here.
"Just Al okay." He watched Melvin fetch new supplies with a twinge of annoyance. Oh come on. He could scab. Scabs are better than bandages. Bandages were for sissies.
He swallowed his pride and crossed his arms over his chest, "I got stabbed."

Melvin pulled a chair over and sat down. It was a very vague description of how he got his injury, and he wondered if saying he was stabbed made him feel more macho. "Stabbed while sparring I guess?" He ventured, since that was the usual way to get hurt around here. That or various missions that happened on and off at all times.
His eyes glanced over to a nearby chair where he saw the wrinkles mess of a shirt and a jacket. Death?
Reaching over, he gestured for Al to raise his arms out a bit. He then found the end and started to unravel the bandages, pausing if he felt anything grip on any blood. Sometimes when bandages shifted, they caught on scabs and could sometimes pull and rip them off. He didn't want that.

"Not a spar, no. I just... got stabbed. Like. For misbehaving I guess." He wasn't really sure why.
Al at least obediently dropped his arms from his chest to raise one up for ease of access.
"You ask a lot of questions man. I don't even know your name yet." There was a lot of dried blood causing bandages to stick stiffly together. He wasn't joking when he said he left it to the lifers to do the bandage changes.

"I ask to figure things out." He moved slowly, not wanting to pull something that would result in fresh bleeding.
"Sorry. Most people don't care about who's bandaging them up. Melvin. Melvin Wood." He glanced up, not able to really shake hands. "If someone just randomly stabs you, you should report them. We have enough people starting fights off the training grounds. We don't need to let that stuff slide." He looked back down at the wounds, leaning in to reach around Al to pull the bandages from the ribs farthest away from him before leaning back again.
"You really shouldn't let your bandages get like this. They are filthy. You know bandages don't work as well if they are like this? They need to be clean and dry. "

Al flinched once Melvin got down to the lower layers. At least Melvin's name was a good distraction. Melvin... melvin... seems... eh. Ehehe. Wood.
"It wasn't just someone. He is like... a supervisor guy." He still wasn't entirely sure who he was... Oh god, he's nagging again. "Dude, I'm fine. Seriously."

Melvin paused and looked up. "I'm sorry. Are YOU in Life? Seeing your mess of a jacket over there - no, you're not. So let me decide if you are fine, and I'm saying it's NOT fine that someone spent their time helping you get bandaged up, and you ignored their directions to keep yourself healthy. Do you think us Lifers like seeing people come back here with dirty bandages feeling sick because they ignored what we said? We don't. We want everyone to get better, so next time..." He pulled on the bandages a bit more quickly than before. "...keep them clean."

Al was ignoring Melvin's tirade up until the abrupt jerk that forced a sharp yelp out of him, "Hey man, don't be a d**k. I'm hurting here."

"Oops." He said, in no way sorry. He continued to peel away, layer by layer, and when the bandages were free, then saw the tap where the bandage pads where, being held against the wounds. He only looked up, judging Al hard for the bloody bandage pads, but breathed out. He had said enough about this.
"Stabbed by a superior. They are rather short tempered. I guess you could be glad they didn't send you to walk the desert as an example like the lunatics they are." He reached up, and because Al had whined before, looked up. "Since you let the blood cake up like this, it's going to hurt to pull apart. Just a forewarning. I'm going to go slow to make sure I don't reopen this wound." He then peeled back the bandage tape, and then slowly pulled the bandage pad back.

"They made an example of me... just not in that way." He was throwing so many ******** at you right now Melvin; all of them ending with "you".
Al's entire body tensed, he was ready for it. There was some resistance directly over where the dagger entered from the front. "Don't forget the exit side," he reminded of the fact the dagger both entered.... and exited.

Melvin cracked a smile, even though he probably shouldn't. "Oh s**t. Exit side? What the hell did you do to make them skewer you like a kebab?" He said, pulling the bandage pad free and setting it in a metal dish where he had the used bandages. He'd get to the back after. First, he got a bandage and poured a cleaning liquid in it, then he leaned in again.
"I'm going to wipe this down. Brace yourself. Don't bite your tongue or something." He warned, and then started to dab at the wound, moving it just enough to lightly clean away the dried blood without trying to wipe too much as the scab. Once he was sure the scar was clean, he cleaned the skin around it where there was just dry blood that had been on the bandages. No wounds, but just to keep the entire area tidy. He...tried not to think about it too much.

Al shuddered, "They pinned me to the wall like a bug and left me up there for the death meeting."
"Pfft, I'm a man. I can take a small bit of stinging." He scoffed Melvin's warning... and then promptly squirmed and made little muffled yelps of pain as he refused to open his mouth to express them properly.
