Chinua flew.

Or was it Koke?
Where did one end and the other begin?
I don't know.
Neither do I.

Ahh well.

They bounded, they flew, they were one. They raced the Thrithing River, keeping pace with her glorious waters. They passed fisherman and farmers alike, leaving their mouths open wide behind them. Nothing would stop them. They were as fast as the wind and as untiring as a forest fire.

So they ran.

But all good things must come to an end.

The sun.
The sun?
Has moved.

A splintering of awareness was all it took to separate their consciousnesses. Chinua was back in her own body and instantly began to feel the affects of their wild ride. Koke was slowing down, and Chinua couldn't help but feel the differences between a guardian's pace and than that of a horse, or a reindeer. Her body definitely was not used to it, and she was sore. Very sore.

"Hold up, love" She said with a groan. Assent. The doe came to a slow halt and Chinua dismounted, with more than a bit of difficulty. The young woman peered around. They were still next to the river, but the sun had drifted from its morning placement in the sky to a distant spot in the west. It was afternoon already. Chinua looked back to where they had come from. Palisade was still visible, but was a mere dark shape on the horizon. "Hmmm, Shall we bunk down here for the night, or head back, Deerheart?" The woman asked the doe in Mongolian. If they left now they could probably make it back to the town before nightfall...but whether that was a smart idea was another thing altogether.

The image of her cushioned by Koke, sitting next to a fire, popped into Chinua's head. She smiled. "Alright, here it is then."

Somehow, it seemed that the only place Jack ever found himself these days was on the road. It was all well and good to be a cavalryman-c**-Warden, but his unfortunately rare skill set had the Crown sending him hither and thither with all manner of orders while the Warden grounds were still under construction. He was still working with his men thus far, but he suspected that he might soon be reassigned from regular cavalry to whatever Warden regiments Her Majesty was working up. He sighed, shaking his head.

Hedonist though he may be, Jack did not take his duties lightly. He would miss working with his disciplined troops when that day came to pass.

Aster added a little prance to his step as he caught sight of the capitol on the horizon, catching his rider's attention. "There she is," he told the buck fondly. "It'll be hot oats for you tonight." The notion clearly pleased the Guardian.

It was not so very much longer, however, before they stumbled across a pair of ladies. And really, what kind of gentlemen would they be if they were to ignore two such exquisite creatures?

"Good afternoon," said Jack, leaning across his saddle that he might be a little lower and thus a little closer to the ladies. His smile was as warm and guileless as ever. Astrophel, for his part, wagged his fluffy tail and grunted a cheerful greeting.
