"You are to go there and protect-""Yes, Mother.""And make sure you make a wonderful impression-""I shall, Father," Izromos said as he finished packing the last of his stuff. It wasn't a lot, just a small carrying bag in which he could survive off of. If worse came to worse, he could make his own clothes, but he was sure it would never get to that.
"Do your best to make the family proud," his father said to him, placing one light blue webbed hand on his son's shoulder. Proud, what a joke. That's all he had done all his life was make the family proud. His family wasn't 'proud' of him. He was just an asset. But despite that, Izromos had never disobeyed them or let them down. Mervids respected their elders and their kin. If they said one bad word, punishment was given to that sole member by the entire family. Though, that same custom couldn't be said about outside the family. Despite being a peaceful race, they were rather skilled fighters. If a Mervid male outside one's family insulted them, well, fists normally solved that problem. Odd, now that Izromos was briefly thinking about it, he realized that sometimes it had resulted in death, and the deceases family (though in silent mourning) accepted the punishment and apologized to the insulted family. It was such a good thing they had such great calm.
Blinking to chase away his thoughts, he nodded his head as he pulled the bag onto one shoulder.
"Will sister be there?" It was a dumb question, but he always enjoyed asking. Before Elizra had joined the Council they had been close. Even though six years apart, they had kept true to each other. Now, it was a matter of keeping a name for himself and the family; there was no other reason to see her. She hardly came home anymore, although she had supplied the family with whatever they needed. A nice home, food, silk clothing from the capital, and delicates that other Mervids lacked.
"She will be there. They are addressing the princess as we speak." At that, Izromos furrowed his eyebrows together. Right now? But they had to leave today... How strange to inform the princess at the last moment. He had a feeling she would not be pleased.
"Do you know your way to Easeway Castle from here?" his mother asked, more to make certain rather than worry. Nodding, Izromos walked to the doorway.
"I will visit when allowed," looking once more at the home, he faced his parents and bowed.
"Thank you for raising me well. Please excuse me. Ծրձէյչ."And then he headed for the Castle.
