Mihr had spent most of his time indoors this past month. He hadn’t really had the energy to go out and play. The calico male just hadn’t had the energy as of late. Which was strange for him, had one met him before all that had happened. The little cat had always been a rather spunky, loving male. To see him so run down would have caused worry had anyone cared to check on him.
He wasn’t sure what had pushed him outside today. Just that he needed to feel the warmth of the sun on his fur. Mirh had found his way out of the nest he had made in the barn. The towering structure looking like it might collapse any moment. This had been where he had decided to make his home. He had been born in a barn, raised there it was one of the few things he could seek comfort from these days. To just remind himself of the better times, when he wasn’t quite so lonely; things had been better then.
His ears fell back against his head as he walked. Tawny paws lightly kicking up leaves as he stepped through the underbrush of the forest. The light flittering through the trees causing his already spotted coat to become alight with dots; a striking site among all the yellows, greens, oranges, and reds of fall. His tail twitched back and forth as he stepped over a fallen tree. He found himself, not for the first time, going back over the past year in his mind. All the little things he had done wrong, things he could have fixed.
He was agonizing a bit over how badly he had messed up. His tail stopped it’s twitching as he came to a halt. Why did everyone leave him?
