Today was an unusually hot day for the season and a lot of people were making the most of it. The greatest hub of action was the local pool. Families and children had flocked there; a cacophony of laughter, splashing and the annoyed shouts of ‘no running beside the pool!’ from the local lifeguard. Shrill X had bullied her papa Lullaby into taking her that day and she had left him behind, in order to seek out her next thrill. The 12 meter diving board. Technically it was banned to children. Too high, they said. Shrill didn’t care; she wanted to jump off it. Making sure the lifeguard was distracted, she made a beeline for the ladder.

Sea Whip was not-quite-lazing by the poolside, watching the families play and chuckling at the poor lifeguard's attempt at restraining rambunctious children and young phonies. She couldn't help but feel sorry for the lifeguard, it's not like they were saying no for the sake of ruining someone's fun, it was just part of their job description to keep others safe around the pool. With a toss of her mane, she got to her feet, ah well, it's not her problem or duty. But then she spotted a young phony headed for the diving board. Oh, oh dear, the green unicorn did not like the look of that. She trotted over to the ladder, purposely standing in the way. Ruriska After ten million years x.x if I'm using the wrong terms or got something wrong about shop-canon, please let me know sweatdrop

Shrill X came to a halt and stared belligerently up at the path-blocker. "You got a problem?" She challenged. If she could get this phony out of the way quickly, she might still have a chance before the lifeguard or her father figured out what she was doing.

The unicorn stared down at the little filly, making sure to meet that glare with a carefully neutral expression and answering in an equally calm voice, "Possibly." And it was the truth, because Whip didn't know exactly what she should do or say in this situation. Oh she firmly believed it was every young phonies' right to explore and discover their limitations at their own. And there were times where tough love was necessary and required old-enoughers to stand back and let them make their own mistakes.
But the thing was, she wasn't comfortable with the idea of letting anyone (or anyone Whip didn't personally know to be an utter brat in need of a life-lesson) do something risky without actually knowing said risks. "Have you ever dived into a pool before?"

"Sure I have," Shrill X answered promptly, the lie sleeping off her tongue with ease. "Now get out of my way." There was no way she was going to let any fussy adult get in the way of adventure. At least anyone who wasn't her dad. Her eyes narrowed. "What's with your hair? It's weird. Come oooon, move it."

The unicorn stared down at the filly, debating on letting her go on up the diving platform while she went and casually alerted the lifeguard until the comment on her mane and tail were made. A small, thin smile spread on her lips, "If you insist," and with a quick flick of her tail, came the sharp crack of a whip.
She sidestepped from the ladder, red eyes already scanning for the poor overworked lifeguard.Ruriska I figured the unique property of her mane and tail has a sharper crack than regular tails when flicked XD

Shrill X stomped past the older female, put one hoof on the ladder and hesitated. She glanced sideways and loudly declared, "I'm not afraid of nothin'." Especially not red-eyed weirdos with whip crack hair. "I'm gonna show you just how it's done." Then she continued her climb.

"I believe you," Sea Whip answered sincerely, an ear twitching towards the filly. She was still hoping to find the lifeguard and draw his attention but it looks like he was busy dealing with a pair of rambunctious humans. "The coast is clear, you won't get a better chance," she added without smiling, still watching intently with her red eyes.
Turning to watch the younger phony, Whip promptly sat down as if settling in for a show. Was she seriously going to let the white earth phony go through with this? Who knows?
