It hadn't been so very long now since the tournament had passed and things had... changed between her and Finn. They'd gotten closer, it seemed. And, well, Fini wasn't sure what to think. In fact, if she was being entirely honest, she was a little scared. The way she felt about him was... complicated and foreign it seemed. Not something she'd expected to feel on the island. And goddamnit he was camping and she missed him and-
:: Oh for Jack's sake! Precious, enough with the babbling! :: Vashi's dark voice snarled at her. :: He's just camping. Or survival training. Whatever. Honestly, his pretty boy a** could use it. ::
"I'm sorry!" Fini whined out loud to her weapon, closing the door to one of the two rooms she was keeping an eye on while the boys (Finn and Dory to be more exact) where out 'camping'. Which Marcus was in charge of so Fini was pretty sure it was going to be hell for them. "I'm not used to being attached to someone. Not for a long while." She mumbled, walking down the long hallway towards her room.
:: Oh how cute. :: He sounded more disgusted.
Some help he was. What she needed was someone that totally understood what she meant. Like... Nevada maybe? Although... Fini inwardly groaned. There was a whole other slew of drama there. Which she didn't know the full scoop on but wasn't going to push for info from those involved either.
Really, she was just bored and lonely and really wanting someone to talk with that wasn't Vashi. AyeAvast sljdfldjfd I AM SORRY IT TOOK ME LONGER TO START THIS QQ <33

If Fini had wanted someone who would understand what it was like to feel the first flutterings of attachment mingled with desire, Abbi was the last person she should talk to. Never in her entire life had the teen been given even half the chance to feel those sorts of things for someone, which made her a bad chatting partner on the best of days. But if the fellow Hunter only wanted someone to talk their ear off and keep them company, Abbi was pretty good at that. And thus, so it was that Abbi saw Fini in the hallway. Well, honestly it had been more of the girl had heard someone opening a door across the hall and the girl being bored and lonely and hopeful enough to open her own door to see who it was. Viveca was not pleased to be ignored when she warned that bothering people was not good, but Abbi was happy to gloss over that when she saw a sheen of silver hair. Exiting Finn's room. { Do not say anythin'. You canna jus-- }"Hi Fini!" A litany of curses and telling off's resounded in Abbi's mind, but she only blinked violet eyes at the girl across the hall. Not bothering to listen to her weapon anymore, the teen literally jumped across the threshold of her door and out into the hallway. "I didn't think Finn was in! I haven't seen him recently but he might be just a tiny bit mad at me maybe I-D-K." She shrugged and once again blinked at the woman. She was really pretty up close, not covered in mud or sweat. And her hair was such a lovely shade! Would it be inappropriate to ask if it was dyed or not? { AYE LASSIE. It would, do not even dare! }Totally asking.A roar of fire and anger was her weapon's response, the sensation loud enough that Abbi winced before she turned a smile up at Fini.

Okay so maybe it was true that Abbi might not be the best person to talk about her boy issues and things with, but really. Fini just wanted someone - a female someone - she could talk with. Nevada was, so far, the only female hunter she seemed to have a friendship blooming with. So long as she and Finn didn't try to kill one another.
:: The hot cyclops gal would kick his a**. No prob. :: Vashi muttered, attention focusing on the little hunter. :: Since when do scarlings get to be big bad hunters? :: He scoffed.
"Hey, Abbi!" Fini turned a bright smile on the teen, mentally shushing Vashi. She waved at the girl, stopping and waiting for her to bounce over. Err, make that launched herself over. She couldn't help but laugh. Really, the teen was adorable.
:: And talks a lot. ::
"He's not." Fini got out when Abbi took a breath. "He was asked to go on some camping trip slash survival training thing with Dory and another trainee. Marcus and Cass are leading the group." Which was amusing in itself. "I'm just watching his and Dory's rooms."
She paused, eying the teen. "What are you up to? My room's just a few doors down, if you want to join me?" Fini offered, gesturing just a little walk from where they were. And then she giggled. "And don't worry, I think Finn is a tiny bit mad at everyone and then some." Though she didn't know for sure why he might be mad at Abbi, unless she was referring to back at the tournament. In which case, Fini just sighed mentally.

Such a warm greeting from Fini only made Abbi smile wider, her weight shifting from foot to foot excitedly. Yes! Real friends was totally a thing that was going to happen right now and Fini was so cool and pretty and yes yes yesssss! "Oh! A camping trip with Miss Cass and her stud muffin hubby?!" And Abbi hadn't been invited?! While that was pretty depressing on its own, it also meant that this would be pure, unadulterated and un-Finn-crashable time with the awesome girl. So, it was an overall win with a small bitterness at being not invited. "Woooooow a camping trip sounds like fun but uh... Is Finn's and Dory's rooms kind of... Crazy? Why do you gotta look after them?" This wasn't asked with any sort of malice or sarcasm, but instead genuine curiosity. What was in their rooms that needed such dedicated care? About to start thinking of all the things that could be in the rooms that would need tending, Abbi found herself wholly distracted by the invitation to join Fini. If she had seemed excited before, it doubled as she hopped up on her toes. "YEAH! That sounds like lots of fun! Are you doing anything today?"{ Maybe she can teach ya how to fight bettah? Wouldn't that be fun? }Ignoring the suggestion because that seemed more like something only Viveca would enjoy, Abbi tripped excitedly after Fini. "But Finn isn't mad at you, I bet!" Who could be mad at such a cool girl? "What's he mad about anyways? I mean, besides loosing his fight?"Kyrieko I super know how to tag things omg sorry

:: Is that... normal for a human scareling to be so... energetic? ::
Fini's lips twitched at Vashi, a small laugh escaping at 'stud muffin hubby'. That was one way to describe Marcus, she supposed. "Yes. A camping trip they are leading." Okay now she was really laughing. Abbi, you were too innocent, seriously! Fini made a 'follow me' gesture at the girl. "Their rooms are fine! They just wanted the... reassurance that while they were gone, nothing would happen to their rooms. That they would be in the exact same state as when they left." If they were lucky, of course. And, well, in the case of Finn's room, she'd been looking for something she thought she may have left in there. And she sure wasn't going to mention that she spent more time in his room then her own lately.
:: This pup has a lot to learn in the big scary world. :: Vashi observed dryly.
Glad the teen seemed to be distracted from questions about the boys' rooms, Fini laughed and shook her head. "Nope! I've got nothing going on. Got some training out of the way this morning." Which had actually gone fairly well.
It was probably luck that allowed her to reach her room before Abbi started in on the questions again. Because she couldn't contain her laughter at that assumption! Finn not mad at her?! Oh the poor teen! She left her door open, stepping inside her room and gesturing widely. "Welcome to me casa. And trust me, I've got a lovely list of strikes against me forming with Finn." Nothing but truth! Though she couldn't say he was quite as mad as before. "Oh don't worry about that. He's just crabby because he's lacking nicotine." Fini paused, then mimed a cigarette. "Smoking. Smokers get cranky when they've gone too long without one!" Which was mostly the truth. The rest of it was simply just Finn was always mad.
Moving towards her bed, which was the only part of her room that sported some color because she liked having color goddamnit. A nice set of sheets and a comforter set were neatly made like the rest of her room. It was white all around, besides the bed, and tidy. Fini liked having a clean living space. Though she wasn't quite as OCD about it as some of the others could be. "So tell me, Abbi. Where is it you came from before here?" She asked curiously, realizing this was the first time she'd really gotten to chat with the teen.

Ever so glad to be lead along, Abbi followed hurriedly after the older girl, nearly sparkling at her. Fini was just really, really coooool! "Oh! I wasn't really sure like maybe they were keeping pets or something! I don't think we're allowed but if you guys were keeping a secret from meeeeee~" The teen wagged a finger at Fini and laughed, doing her best to tease but looking vaguely worried by the entire act. Fini would believe that she was just playing, right?! She would know that Abbi was just pal'ing around... Right?!?! "So you must train like... A whole bunch, right? Since yanno, you won the championship and all." It had been a splendid show too! And part of the reason the teen found the older girl so cool. Such a dedicated fighting style and courage! She was like some cool, cute ninja! Abbi was definitely not fangirling over Fini nope not her. An appreciative noise left the girl as she tip toed into the room, purple eyes turned wide to take in the surroundings. It was spartan, like all the rooms, save for the bed which was a lovely shade of blue. Welcoming herself over to that since Fini had done the same, Abbi hustled over and plopped down onto the blankets and rubbed her hands on them. So soft! Maybe she would have to ask where she'd gotten them! The teen's own were not the best, certainly not as colorful and nice as these! "Oh... Smoking is really bad for you." Everyone knew that, but people still did it! So weird. "You don't... Smoke... Do you?" Please say no, please say no, please say no and keep being cooool!Oh! Surprise was all the girl could express for a moment before she grinned at Fini. Wellll if she'd asked! "Connecticut! Some small, fancy pants town you probably haven't heard of unless you're from the area you're not are you?" Oh gosh that would be terrible and just wow Abbi. Open mouth insert shoe. "But uh... Yeah I uh... Graduated high school and a month later got on a train and didn't come home. I got in really early because I skipped a grade back in elementary school so I'm pretty young." After meeting so many older people, it felt like a special distinction when it really wasn't. Viveca grumbled in her mind something about modesty, but the teen waved it off and bounced herself on the bed. "What about you? You must have like... A fantastic story about why you're here!"

She was starting to agree rather quickly with Vashi, that Abbi sure talked a lot. And had waaaay too much energy. Which did make her very adorable. Her questions and the way she spoke without thinking before hand definitely hinted at her younger age. But Fini found it... refreshing. It was nice to be around someone younger that still had such spirit in them!
"No, don't worry. We're not keeping any secrets from you~" Fini flashed the teen a sly little grin that was hard to determine if she was serious or keeping things from her. Which was probably why she'd done it in the first place. "I promise it's just as simple as they wanted reassurance no one would steal their stuff." She added.
And then just about choked on a laugh. Oh she liked you, Abbi! Even if she may have called her nothing more than a 'prize' - which had stung a bit to hear from this girl, Fini was willing to give the teen a chance. Or, well, another chance. "I wish I could claim that. But I don't train any more or less then your average hunter. I've just... been along on more missions than the newer trainees." She had been on the island for a little while now. And, okay, she did train with Vashi a lot, working to improve her close range combat.
Once back in her own room, Fini felt more relaxed and watched Abbi with amusement and she looked around the new space. Should she have asked where the bedspread had come from, Fini would have just giggled and told her that it was a secret~
"Yes it is, yet some people will still do it regardless." For the buzz, and the taste of the nicotine. Neither of which she'd ever cared much for. "Nope." She answered, though she left off the little bit that she had, at one point, tried it. However other people smoking didn't bother her. Her adoptive father had smoked and she'd grown used to the lingering scent of faded menthol that coated his clothes. "And you, little missy? Do you smoke?" Fini figured the answer was an obvious 'NO', but hey! Never hurt to ask, right?
:: And I'm sure many a creature uttered those famous last words. :: Vashi growled in annoyance. :: How do we shut her up? ::
Fini just ignored him, eyes widening slightly. "How young is 'pretty' young?" She had to ask. Surely the girl couldn't be any younger than Gale?! "And you'd be right. I'm not from Connecticut so I wouldn't know it, I bet." Curious that the teen would just up and leave like she had after graduating. But that was a story for later. However the teen's next exclamation had her frowning slightly, glancing away. Fantastic story? Was that what one would think of it? "Eh, I'm from California. And I wish I could give you the fantastic story you want to hear." Fini glanced back at Abbi, a sad smile twisting her lips up. "My family died in a house fire started by 'unknown' causes." She knew what had caused them. "And not long after that, I woke up here."

Not at all sure whether to believe the words Fini said, or the sly grin that suggested otherwise, Abbi kind of flailed a little instead. W-would Fini lie to her like that?! They'd only met a few times and never really talked before and and and-- "Oh! That's nice of you!"A small sigh left the teen, unable to really cover up that she had been worried Fini would keep something cool from her. It was strange talking to people who showed genuine interest in her, so Abbi wanted to keep things like that for as long as possible. But when she felt out of the loop, when she still felt like a total newb, it was kind of difficult. Unfortunately Abbi was not able to know that Fini was still hurt over being called a prize, though she had a pretty educated guess on the manner if she considered how she would have felt about it. Had she known, she might have apologized right then and there, but as she didn't know she only grinned up at her new friend all the more. "Oh? So how long have you been here?" It was interesting to see the various levels of success everyone had attained, to see who adapted better than others. Satisfied that she had done pretty well in the competition despite her green status, Abbi was still curious to know if Fini was the kind to take to this quickly, or had had difficulties. "Still gross..." She began with a pout that changed to a shy smile to learn such a cool girl like Fini didn't smoke. To have the question posed to her, however, made Abbi straighten up. "What!?! Ew no gross! Definitely not! Never! Ewwww!" She shivered to show her disgust, before she wrinkled her nose one final time. "I'm seventeen!" She replied with a wiggle of shoulders meant to be something resembling pride, before Abbi nodded at Fini. "Californiaaaa? Woooooow! That's so cool! Did you live in like L.A. or something?" About to ask another volley of questions, Abbi stopped to hear about a house fire. All her exuberance vanished and she turned quiet, eyebrows dipping down in sorrow. "Gosh... I'm... I'm so sorry to hear that..." Not really sure what to do, the teen looked down at her hands in her lap, then at Fini. Would it be too weird to hug her? That was still really sad and Abbi knew what it felt like and... She took a breath and gave Fini a quick, one armed hug before she went back to looking down at her hands, her face a little pinker than before.

She tried not to let her amusement at Abbi's flustered state show, or that the teen's face had clearly shown she thought Fini might be lieing. Which was obviously a possibility but in this case... she wasn't. Abbi would just have to take her word on it. Fini just shrugged, grinning at the girl. "I guess you could call it that." It occurred to her to wonder if Abbi knew about the change in status of hers and Finn's relationship. Hmmm.
"Me?" Fini sighed, grabbing one of her pillows and resting her elbows on it in her lap. "I think it's almost been two years? Maybe less then that. But definitely over a year now." Time. One last track of it while here. "I guess you could say I was more... " She frowned, trying to find a way to explain, which was something she hadn't ever really done with anyone. "Well, I was more interested and focused on helping a few others get promoted quickly instead of myself?" That was mostly true. The other part was that she just hadn't been ready yet.
A good old hearty laugh was Fini's response to Abbi's reaction at having her own question tossed back at her. "Good." She managed to get out. "And eh, it's not for everyone that's for sure. I just don't really care who does or doesn't." Fini admitted honestly. "My adoptive dad smoked and I just grew used to it." Look at her spilling all her little secrets! Okay so that wasn't quite a secret, but she was relaxed and comfortable enough around the teen to share more about her past then usual.
"Wow, seventeen, really?" So she was about the same age as Gale. Her lips pulled up very briefly into a soft smile. Oh how the Death hunter had fought to earn his place, being the youngest out there. And now? There were many younger trainees and hunters about that were young. This, of course, earned a small frown in thought. But Abbi was moving on and Fini jumped right into the conversation again. "Not L.A. I lived in San Francisco. Within biking distance of the beach." Oh gawd how she missed the beach!
The awkward little one armed hug had Fini blinking and then chuckling. She patted Abbi's leg, giving her a small smile. "It's alright. They were my adoptive family. I have no real memory of what happened to my real parents, except that there was a car crash and... that's how I got all these." The trainee indicated the scars showing along her cheek and peeking out from under her shirt along her arm. "Anyways, I somehow wound up in Cali after being moved around the orphanage and foster system. And I fell in love with the beaches and sailing." She grinned at the teen. "I was an awesome sailor."

Had Fini asked after Abbi's knowledge of the status of Fini and Finn's relationship, the older girl would receive an answer in the negative, for the younger teen didn't know anything. She could only assume that they were together since they had left the tournament together and Abbi had seen them kissing quite a lot. But she also knew the fickle and fleeting nature of affection, as well as had a few assumption about Finn's nature regarding such topics. They were all naturally rather doubtful of his favor toward relationships, but that was perhaps a bit judgmental on the girl's part. As it were, Fini hadn't asked so Abbi couldn't tell. More than happy to chat about the duration of Fini's stay on the Island, the teen nodded and hummed at her new friend as she spoke. "Woooooow. Two years is a long time! But you seem to have adjusted well and stuff... You like it here and all?" As for helping other people get promoted, well that made Abbi give Fini a more gentle look, surprised by her own emotion. "That's really nice of you, but if you want to get promoted and I can help... You should let me know, ok?" The woman had already proven herself a worthy opponent on the field, it was about time she got her recognition! "Yuck, that sounds terrible to be surrounded by smoke all the time..." Abbi mumbled, rubbing her palm over her nose to get rid of the imaginary smell. The hand dropped a second later and the teen peeked at Fini from the side of her eyes. Wow, she was really opening up! Funny to think how at first Abbi thought she seemed too cool to do something like that. "Wooow San Francisco! That sounds so cool! I bet it was a lot of fun... Did you go to the beach a lot?" Having never been that far west, Abbi could only imagine what that ocean looked like. The only one she'd known was the dark waters of the Atlantic, always too cold for her small frame and the sand too rocky. The only time she'd really enjoyed the beach was that trip they'd taken to the Gulf when she was fifteen, but even that wonderful time felt fuzzy in her memory. A breath was taken in to ask another question, but Abbi paused at the mention of a car crash. Her skin ran cold and she couldn't hide the way she shivered at the sight of Fini's scars. "O-oh... I'm... Really... Sorry to hear about that." Totally thrown off now, Abbi let her head drop against Fini's shoulder just so she wouldn't have to look at her. Maybe that way Fini wouldn't notice she had gone even paler, that she was trying so hard to get away from this topic. "I've never been sailing. What's it like?"

She probably would have agreed with some of the things that Abbi felt in regards to 'Finn' and 'relationships', but that was not the topic of conversation right now. Fini gave the teen a sheepish look and shrugged. "I dunno if I would call it liking... but it's not bad." Or at least it was better than where she'd been just before waking up in the pod. And then she laughed, tossing an arm around Abbi's shoulders. "Nice or naive. Either one would fit. But I'll keep that in mind. And thanks." It really did mean a lot to have someone willing to help her out for a change.
"Terrible might be too strong a word." Fini's gaze grew a little distant as she tried to focus on those memories of a different life. "They were just... the typical evenings for me. The faint scent of his cigarette floating about the family room." A comfort is what it had grown to be. Something familiar that reminded her of belonging to a family.
Leaning back on her hands, Fini pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind, locking them away. She gave Abbi a lazy grin, nodding her head. "Oh I totally went to the beach. Allll the time." The sun trainee chuckled, giving the teen a secretive little look. "In fact, I think I spent more time there then I actually did in school." And then it had all been taken away from her. Again.
Fini didn't notice Abbi's complexion paling, but she wasn't surprised in the change of mood. A small, side smile briefly flicked across her lips. "It's alright. I don't remember anything about it really. Just that it happened." And that there had been something strange about it, but she'd been too little to understand. Not having any desire to delve deeper into that bit of her past, Fini was more than happy to jump topics. "Sailing is the most amazing thing ever! There is just this... sense of freedom you feel while gliding smoothly along the water."

"I guess..." The teen began in a contemplative tone, her hands resting idly in her lap and turned palm up so she could focus on them instead of the woman next to her, "I guess if you're used to an awesome beach that coming here to a not so awesome beach is kind of a buzzkill." That made a lot of sense, actually. If Abbi had had something awesome like a fantastic beach to keep her happy, she might not have wanted to leave it either. "Ah! You're not naive! You've been here for so long that its impossible for you to be naive anymore! So you're really nice!" Her enthusiasm should have been indication enough of her honesty, but the big, sparkly eyes coupled with a lean in certainly didn't hurt. Unable to marry the idea of cigarette smoke meaning home or something of comfort, Abbi wrinkled her nose one last time before she dropped her face back to normal. "I guess I understand..." She conceded, even when she really didn't at all. But it was better to pretend she did than to argue the point and lose any of Fini's friendship. Nothing about Abbi's old life had felt like home, not when strangers she didn't really like lived in her home, not when her step brother leered after her in the hallways and her father avoided her wherever he could. The only thing that had felt even halfway comfortable was the sanctuary of her room and the smile from her step mother. But even that wasn't enough. This felt like home. Deus felt comfortable, even for all its dangers. They were something she would accept if it meant feeling at ease and stable. When Fini leaned back, Abbi brought her knees up to put her chin against them, eyes unfocusing to imagine the crash of the ocean and serene sand. She laughed when the older girl mentioned school, wrinkling her nose again. How could anyone skip school? You got to learn cool things and do neat stuff like science! Yeah, some of the people there kinda sucked but learninggggg!"Do you think they have sailing boats here at Deus? It might be kinda dangerous to go sailing... Since... Yanno... Giant monsters in the waters and mermaids and junk." But maybe that was supposed to be the point... To take a group out on the water and let the peacefulness of the ocean be shattered by some monsters. An epic battle scene would ensue, surely, but then they could return to their relaxation that was now well deserved. Awesome, right? "Soooooooo. How's the rest of your life?" Specifically, her love life? ;D Not that Abbi would ever just come out and ask that... Maybe she would...

Fini shrugged a shoulder. "You could put it that way, I guess. But hey! At least I got a beach here too." She smiled, though she would never be able to enjoy it as freely as she had in San Francisco. Not with the things that lurked in the waters here. Or the fog that hung about the Island. 'Buzzkill'. That was a good word for it.
A surprised smile lit up her face as she laughed lightly. "Well, I'm glad someone thinks I am!" She teased, nudging Abbi's shoulder gently. "It's alright if you don't, y'know." Fini added about the smoking. "Everyone remembers home differently. That was just a good thing I remember." And a good home. Though even she had to admit that Deus was home in its way too. The obnoxious kind. With a huge dysfunctional family. And many many problems.
She let her head tilt back as she stared up at the ceiling, considering what Abbi asked while imaging the ocean. "Hmm... I don't know. Never actually thought to look or ask." It would kind of be fun though, even with all the dangers. "Definitely dangerous. But that might be fun." This was something she would look into. For sure! Oh how she'd love to take the teen sailing with her! Or drag Finn out there. Hell, even a small group going would be a blast! And meant more people to fight off annoying creatures. "Maybe I'll look into it and we can go sometime."
Sitting back up, Fini blinked at the teen, head tilted slightly. "Umm... pleasant enough, I guess?" Was that how you would describe being a trainee? "I haven't been on any 'big' missions lately." She admitted, unaware that what Abbi really wanted was the good gossip. AyeAvast sjdflsjfljfljdlfjd SUPER LATE TAG FOR YOU QnQ

After a moment of thought, the teen nodded once. Yeah! Optimism, even against something lame like a foggy beach full of spooky mermaids and weird Godzilla-esque monsters was better than nothing! "So nice and optimistic and a good fighter... Gosh Fini, you're like... Super dream girl material!" Abbi laughed, but she was being partly serious. Fini was bad a** but super sweet and feminine and maybe sort of quickly becoming a role model for the young girl. Not that she would ever tell her, of course. That would be way too embarrassing.... As for possibly getting to go on a fun sailing adventure with Fini and friends... "That would be the coolest, most rad thing ever yes we should totes go sailing O-M-G." Abbi whispered hurriedly, her eyes nearly spilling over with excited sparkles. There seemed a sincere lack of fun on the island that she was happy to remedy with silly excursions like sailing. "Oh that's cool, yanno... Probably better. Save on the... Missions reports and all." She was stalling but ugh she didn't want to asskkkkkkkk~ "Do anything fun? Meet anyone cool?"
