Yveridae’s tail twitched in excitement at the thought of the hunt she would be going on next. It was close to the equivalent of a girlish glee, well, as girlish as Yveridae could get. On the outside, it looked more like a ghoulish grin stretching across her face, like she was plotting something horrible, but really - she was just excited. She trailed her tongue across her sharp exposed teeth, flitting it around before popping it back into her mouth. This was going to be a good night.
The moon was high in the air, and the surrounding clouds darkened out the light that was trying to poke its way down to the forest floor. The filtered light was obscured before it could even make its way to the canopy, leaving the innards of the forest close to pitch black. Yveridae’s bioluminescence, something she wasn’t quite sure where she inherited it from but was there nonetheless, filtered from her body and created a glow around her that held onto the tree trunks and left a blue-green hue to everything it touched. Even though she could probably be spotted a mile away from it, it was something she was proud of and something that she thought was not only unique, but also in its own way very pretty, something she knew that she was not so much of. She leaped gently over an exposed root and landed on the other side with a soft, barely audible thump. The leaves from the trees were changing colors with the seasons and starting to fall, leaving dried leaves in abundance on the floor and crunching with most of the steps that she took.
A gust of wind blew through the forest and Yveridae lifted her head and stretched her long neck as it reached her and flowed over her form. She inhaled sharply, her nostrils repetitively flaring - once, twice, three times - and caught what it was she was aiming for. She smelled it - smelled them. And could only hope that they were all asleep like she wanted them to be. She was going hunting.

She launched herself back over the root she had just jumped over and landed with a slightly less-than-quiet thump. She inhaled deeply, letting the scent permeate and sink into her senses before deciding which way she would follow. The scent didn't seem to be moving, something that launched another ghoulish smile on her face. Her insides shivered with anticipation of the encounter she would have next. She could already see it in her mind. They would be sleeping, and she would creep up and finish the job before they could even know what it was that had them. Perfect.
Yveridae crept forward on her four limbs, feeling the stretch and pull of the tight muscles as she soundlessly crept forward. They were still a ways away yet, but she didn't want to give herself away too early. Her body's natural light would be her biggest opponent once she was closer, and would be difficult to overcome.
Yveridae closed in on what it was she was looking for and her teeth hit the light with a devilish grin. There on the ground were four sleeping Ysali dragons. Yveridae looked around solemnly for others. Was this the whole family? Were there more? She checked, silencing her breathing even through her excitement, but she couldn't see anything other than these four laying here. Good. She paused, thinking further on her approach into this situation. Four may be too many. Yveridae had never actually fought a dragon before, would she hold up against so many at once?
She circled around, leaving a large distance between her and the dragons. She would need to think this through. Alright, the facts were that there were four of them and only one of her. They had wings… she did not. She was glowing: an obvious giveaway of her location at all times at night. All these things seemed to be stacking against Yveridae pretty quickly.
Oh well. Yveridae shook her head and launched herself forward, ready to strike. It was all or nothing at this point and no amount of planning was going to make it any easier, that much Yveridae knew. Maybe it was impulsive, but sometimes the best plans were those that weren't planned.

Yveridae jumped forward, landing closer to the sleeping dragons with a crunch on the way down. Oh right, and it was Fall, so not only would they see her from anywhere, they could hear here too. That was good, she thought with a roll of her eyes. Wouldn't want this to be too easy, now would we? She flitted her tongue and concentrated on her next leap. This one was going for a dragon itself. She reared back, shaking her rump as she prepared and then pounced. She was in the air and then back down faster than she could have thought out her next move, and she had this gut feeling that she would pay for it. She landed on the dragon and became a tangled mess of limbs and body parts as they both rolled together, the dragon obviously waking up and not wanting any part of the mess Yveridae was creating for it. The other dragons shook from their slumbers and the three sets of eyes watched from where they were at the unfolding bodies.
Yveridae jumped backward, separating herself from the dragon before lunging at it once more. She roared out, striking at it with her claws and attempting to chomp down with her teeth. The dragon decidedly wanted nothing to do with it and after taking its small, rather weak beating, the dragon reared back and swiped at Yveridae, sending her backward and into a nearby tree.
Yveridae hit the trunk with a loud thud and fell to the floor. She shook her head, trying to get the dizziness to go away before standing again on wobbly legs. Alright, so this was a little tougher than she had thought. She turned to face the dragon head on… but what she saw wasn't very pretty. While she had been down the other three dragons had decided that they were already done with Yveridae being a pest and a nuisance to their sleep and had flown in to help their fellow dragon. They lined up, sizing Yveridae up and letting out guttural growls. Yveridae gulped and her face went slack before she immediately picked her spirits back up. She knew this was coming, right? Time to man up.

Yveridae launched herself at the dragons, preparing herself for the beating she was about to get, but not without giving them a fight first. She tore into one of the dragon’s hide, spilling blood with her powerful jaws, and as it screeched out, two of the other dragons ganged up on her, tearing her from the group and pushing her towards the ground. It wasn't going to end pretty.
By the end of the fight, Yveridae was missing one of her many teeth, her hide was ripped up, she was bleeding in some spots, and her eye was swollen. But she couldn't say that she was a coward, that was for sure. Stupid maybe, but not scared. She moved her tongue over the spot that used to hold a tooth and couldn't help but think, at least it wasn't missing in a spot that would make her any uglier.
