Nuivian ran his fingers through his hair as he walked through the forest. He was getting stronger and more experienced. He wasn’t a little kid anymore. Not in his mind at least. His parents and family could poke fun at him all they like. He had taken down his first dragon and a whole gang of Dunkel. He was getting better. He did have help with the Dunkel, but that didn't stop him from learning a thing or two about fighting. Experience was experience. And he had done it when his cousin couldn't manage. He smirked at the thought. His cousin had been bragging for weeks about how he had gone on a trip into the split in the cliff during the blood moon, but he had no idea. Nuivian wouldn't have been surprised if he hadn't even managed to leave home to find the cliff face. Once Nuivian had returned after his adventure with Madryn his cousin had looked at him in awe at the things he had brought back with him. Nuivian definitely had bragging rights now. And his cousin was older than him. That only proved that if Nuivian could be bothered to put his mind to something that he was better than whomever it was challenging him. Nuivian just lacked the interest most of the time. Everything tended to be so boring.
Nuivian clenched his fists, almost excited for the anticipation of finding more dragons. This time he wasn't going to go after just one. Oh no. He was above that. He would be going for a whole group of them. Go big or go home. That would be how Nuivian would play it out today. And it would work. He could feel it in his bones. He breathed in the scent of the forest, as if he were now a master at finding dragons, probably getting a little too cocky in himself, and continued deeper. Closer to his destination.

Nuivian looked around the now familiar paths and trees and yawned if not a little over exaggerated. Nuivian had been there and done that, really. He had been in this forest much too many times already, most of the time losing - as much as it hurt him to admit it. He thought back on all of the dragons he had attempted to fight and lost to and realized that it was really only a small handful of them that he had just happened to have the misfortune of fighting over and over again. Well, at least he had eventually showed them. He stretched his arms over his head, heading deeper into the forest and towards what he thought would be the heart of the dragon’s den. He had heard a rumor about the location of a pack of Ysali dragons that hid out here in a root-y looking cave under a tree. As much as he hated rumors - and never thought that he would be following them - he needed more practice and something to do. He might not take interest in much, but he did hate being bored. Hunting dragons had proven to be much more fun than he had actually thought when he finally started winning. Who knew, maybe with a few more fights under his belt he could start going for tougher opponents. He allowed a smirk to show on his face with his thoughts and jumped over a root... only to fall through the floor on the other side.
What was this? Nuivian looked up at the dust-filled air and the light streaming through the hole above him. There were roots covering most of the area around the hole and it took a few minutes to register, but finally Nuivian got it. This must be the dragon’s nest he was looking for.
He looked around himself and saw eyes peering back at him. Oh.

Nuivian jumped back against the wall of the hole he had fallen through and grimaced at the thought of the dirt that would be covering his back and probably hair. This might not be so good. The three pairs of eyes looking at him blinked, almost as surprised as Nuivian was, before shrinking into a glare. These dragons weren’t very happy that Nuivian had fallen into their home. Well, it wasn’t his fault really, who built their door in the floor? It was just begging for people or things to fall through. The fact that Nuivian had been looking for them wasn’t the point of all of this.
The middle dragon reared its head back before choking out some sort of smog into the air in front of Nuivian’s face. What was this? Nuivian hadn’t had anything like this happen before. Before he could really think about it, he had inhaled whatever it was that the dragon had spewed and started to feel lightheaded. Oh. This wasn’t good. Nuivian had to think fast if he was going to get anything done before whatever poison it had regurgitated from its mouth took full effect.
Nuivian pulled out his dagger, apparently something the dragons weren’t expecting since he had managed to catch one with a full blow before they reacted. The dragon went down and was done for before Nuivian could pull the blade back out. The other two dragons spread their wings about to take flight out of the hole and leave Nuivian there when Nuivian caught the other dragon and brought it down before plunging his dagger into the last dragon’s hide. It screeched out and in a last ditch effort spread its wings with Nuivian still attached and brought them both out of the hole before collapsing onto the ground.
Nuivian was more than a little disoriented after the spinning roll the dragon took both into the air and onto the ground. He shakily got to his feet and wobbled in place. He needed to find something to get back to being one hundred percent and fast.
