Tom hopped up in the hall, outside of his first class of the day. History, with their former headmaster. This should be fun. To his dismay, the door was still locked. A peek inside showed no signs of life, unlife, or anything similar. The place was deserted.

He leaned back against the wall, sliding down it to sit on the floor. Man. Maybe I oughta ditch. This is lame.

Tom shook his head. He'd ditched well over half his classes last year, and he'd likely be paying for it in future. Now was not the time to think such thoughts. And yet, at the same time, if he missed enough class, maybe they'd hold him back and he wouldn't be allowed to graduate...

His head fell back against the wall behind him as he let out prolonged sigh.

August walked towards his new classroom, head still hurting despite the medicine he took earlier. A high voice pierced through the quite halls and August sighed as he rounded the corner to see a rather annoyed looking Thomas Markson with the every cheer Cosmo. "Good morning," he greeted when he was close enough, forcing a smile. Please don't let this class be a nightmare, he thought to himself as he unlocked the door. The cooler air in the room made a small shiver run down August's back as he flipped the lights on. "Find a seat. We'll begin soon," he instructed. The outline was already written, thank goodness.

August sighed and rubbed his forehead as he walked around in an attempt to get set up. He ignored the boys' chatter as he arranged his notes. He cleared his throat to get their attention before diving into the lecture.

"As you can see, today we're going over the major races, such as Fairies, Elementals, Humans, Elves, it's all on the board. These are called the major races because they created the major kingdoms, which were the kingdoms made up of only the creatures. Human major kingdom, only humans. Elf major kingdom, only elves and so on and so forth. Each major race has at least one defining feature. Fairies, for example, are known for their wings. Elves for their pointed ears. Shapeshifters, well, it's in the name. The Elementals vary element to element, but they do show signs of their element, b it through skin color, hair color, eye color, some kind of color. Mythical creatures are usually races like dragons, vampires, creatures of that nature. For those with no obvious traits, though, are classified, for the purposes of this class, as Miscellaneous. I mentioned the first kingdoms earlier. Obviously now we are all divided and separated. The reasons for that separation will be taught next week."

August took a deep breath to ask if there were any questions, but the bell rang. If I hadn't been late, there would have been time, he thought. "You are dismissed for lunch. Go eat and don't get into trouble," he said with a pointed look at Thomas.
