It had been a month after he was told that he only had about a year to live. His illness was rare and usually was harmless but in his case it was a bit too late. Unfortunately he did couldn't afford surgery and so he had no choice but to live this way and simply die from the disease. Daniel had run out of options by now and he had practically given up. He grew up in a religious house hold but ever since his parents died in an earth quake when he was little he began to feel a bit distant from his faith. His grandparents are Catholics and they made sure to raise him with such beliefs and knowledge though no matter how much they made him attend church and how he was Confirmed, he still had his doubts. Now his faith was questioned further and he began to think that maybe there was no God...or that if there was, he had no mercy on him.

Today Daniel had forced himself out of bed and managed to take a shower. Fortunately for him it was winter so he didn't need to carry around an umbrella and look stupid. He carried on during the summer because he was allergic to heat and what not. He grew up known as the sick child always getting the common cold, getting fevers and being allergic to plenty of things. School was no longer an option as he was forced to stay home and be home schooled by his grandmother who barely knew anything but she tried her best to hire tutors etc despite not being well off with money.

He managed to "graduate" High School but it was around that day that he was diagnosed. He was unable to work and help his grandparents out. He had no friends and he was dying. What point was there in living?

Daniel went out and found himself in an antique bookstore. He looked around and found a pretty old book though the title was in some different language...Latin maybe. Nonetheless he saw a lot of pictures of angels and assumed it was a religious book and it was probably about god and heaven and what not. Shrugging he bought it and made his way home but ultimately found himself inside the cathedral. He sat alone by the alter looking through the book.

Flipping through the pages he found something peculiar. By the images he thought that it would bring an angel to him and if that was the case maybe he could plea for a new beginning, for health etc. Reading it out loud, the lit candles began to blew out and the church became dim. He looked around and stood up..slightly afraid. He was a frail boy after all so he certainly wouldn't be able to fight anything off. Little did he know that he didn't summon an angel at all.

Syrus Alistair McHailous, a prince of demons known to many as...well nothing more than a slacker. Of course he was powerful and no one dared to really say anything to his face but there were rumors. Rumors that he would forfeit the throne to his younger sister, and allow her to rule instead of himself. Which of course was completely out of the order of things seeing as he was the eldest and all... But ruling hell had never really been at the top of Syrus's priority list. Unlike most demons who spent there time killing, torturing or fighting, Syrus liked to study and observe. The object of his attention at this moment was human society. They were such frail creatures, unaware of the battle that raged just on the border of their own unbalanced world. And, unlike most, Syrus was keenly aware of the strange balance that the war seemed to keep. No one ever winning or losing... it was simply an ongoing battle with completely needless killing on both parts.

At this very moment he sat within his room, deep within the kingdom, immersing himself in a well of knowledge. All around him were books strewn about in a...orderly fashion in fact. Nothing in his room really seemed to be out of place, despite the slight clutter. At this moment he was studying human disease, having no idea how ironic that would be in the days to come. Just as he turned the page a harsh gust of wind seemed to knock it out of his hand, and everything else around the room seemed to fly from their dedicated places. Usually he would have been quite upset, were it not for the fact that he was currently being torn from Hell and into the human world.

Silver eyes narrowed harshly as he was pulled first through darkness, then into a large room which instantly made him uncomfortable. But what was worse was the thick band now placed around his neck, binding him to whomever had just summoned him. His white jacket flared around his ankles as he turned with feline grace far beyond anything attainable to a human being. His eyes then locked upon the frame of the blonde male, and the smell of sickness hit him like a tidal wave. How this boy was alive at this very moment was....a miracle to say the least. "Do you have any idea what you have done boy?" He voiced, though his tone remained strangely calm and unaffected by the current circumstances. His gaze then flickered down to the book, a flash of annoyance clouding his eyes before they returned to cold indifference. Of course. A summoning book painted up to look like it would call out an angel...and this sick young thing had hoped to call out an angel to help him.... But he'd gotten quite the opposite.

Still, like it or not Syrus was bound to him...and whether the boy noticed it yet or not, the sickness that was eating away at him would be rapidly be dissipating....as long as he was bound to the demon at least. A soft sigh escaped from his lips at this...he could take the boys life, he had no idea how to control Syrus....but then again this could make for an interesting time as well and thus he let the coldness slip away to something a bit...warmer, even if it was not real.

"I see what you were trying to do and I do apologize for my harsh words...I am not accustomed to being in such a place and it unsettles me." He stated as he moved forward to stand before the blonde, taking in the different colors of his eyes, he was quite lovely considering he was a human. But he was so very weak...well had been until he contracted with Syrus. Usually this kind of binding was done only with the demons consent and a price to be payed... But Syrus had no interest in that. "I am not an Angel." He stated, his words ringing true even though his strangely pale skin and soft complexion might have lead the boy to believe he was. "I am a Demon. A prince to be exact... My name is Syrus Alistair McHailous....." He stated, placing a hand on his chest before he moved down to one knee with ease, the smallest of smirks taking to his lips as he now looked up to the male from under thick inky lashes. "You my boy, have just bound a prince of demons to you." He purred, hiding his amusement only slightly.

Rather than expecting some sort of heavenly event happen before his eyes he got the opposite. Well in a sense that he felt darkness rather than warmth and purity. He was honestly expecting to see a beam of heavenly light shoot down and bring down an angel but instead a darker being emerged from beneath his feet. He had stumbled back and watched in fear and shock but what was surprising was to see a heavenly male standing before him. He looked so angelic yet the atmosphere around him was dark and sinister. Was this the devil playing a trick on him, ready to drag him down to hell. Was this the moment of his death?

The only thing he could do was stand there and watch and the male before him didn't seemed pleased to be here, even more so since it was a catholic church and if Daniel was right to assume this being was some sort of devil, then no doubt this place sickened him. Luckily they were in a church so he would probably be unable to harm him in anyway. Or so he hoped.

When he spoke, pretty much stating that what he just did was stupid...stupid stupid stupid! Gulping he began to feel that familiar feeling of his chest becoming tighter. If he didn't calm down he would probably have an asthma attack. It's not like he could help it though...there was a possibility that he would be devoured by something unholy any moment now.

And then Daniel was told what he had feared. This man was indeed some sort of demon, the worst part was that he was some demon prince and so he wondered if he was the son of Satan, if so he only wondered how much more merciless this man was. What was more unsettling was the fact that he got on one knee and bowed to him only to state that they were now bound. Did this mean he had a demon attached to him now?!

Daniel stumbled back more and coughed a bit only to begin to have a coughing fit. Stumbling back onto a bench he sat there wheezing and coughing, in fact having an asthma attack. In a panic he quickly reached into his pocket and pulled his inhaler out. Holding it near his mouth he puffed some of the steroids into his mouth, inhaling in and trying to calm down his breathing. When he finally calmed himself he put the inhaler away and looked back at the demon. All he could muster to say was, "Sorry..."

Syrus watched the episode with a strange sense of intrigue. Sick and weak, this human was quite the mystery to be frank. Such a frail creature had to have one horrid guardian angel behind him. Raising to his full height he let a brow lift in a questioning manner. "You're sorry?" He stated, the slightest hint of amusement coloring his tone. He understood the boys shock of course, he'd been expecting some heavenly being and Syrus was far from such a being. He was from the lowest level of hell. A soft chuckle slipped from his lips as he slipped his hands into his coat pocket and rocked back on his heels casually. "Perhaps you haven't realized, but that disease within your body is progressively getting better due to this little contract. If anything you should be happy about being bound to me. All I ask is that you show me human kinds culture. Simple no?" He purred, leaning against a pew as he focused on ignoring the large cross and all the holy symbols surrounding him.

"What is your name?" He voiced, curious to find out more about the human child...well child in his mindset. Then again Syrus was...ancient compared to most humans. Pursing his lips he couldn't help but wonder if the asthma was painful and thus stepped forwards to approach the male "stay put." he commanded, lifting a hand to splay his fingers across the males chest lightly. Focusing on shifting his own life energies into the boy, the pain in his chest would fade, the tightness disappear, and breathing would have become easier all together. "I think you'll find that far more comfortable...as for comfort. I'm quite intent on leaving this place. You never know when a stray angel is about...and I'd rather not have to spill any blood in front of you. I don't think you'd take it well."

Without waiting for the boys consent he moved to leave the chapel, though froze when he realized that he still had the pointed ears of a demon and fangs. With a sigh, he let the air around him shift and as did his features. Adopting something that could at least pass for human, despite the strange allure and beauty the man displayed. His most noticeable trait was likely the way he carried him, definitely like someone who was far above others...and since he looked it no one really questioned him. He'd been the the human world plenty of times, but never to just....observe. And now that he had the chance he wasn't about to let it pass him by.

After his features had shifted he stepped outside and hurried off of holy ground, visibly relaxing. "Damned holy ground" He murmured, rolling his neck tensely before looking around, his once silver eyes a light blue to match the more standard color of human eyes. Turning he looked back to the blonde boy, his human appearance far more inviting than his demon one. Which of course wasn't even his true form but not many demons resorted to the more beastly looks... It was far more appealing to look...well appealing.

Daniel was silent the entire time. There really wasn't much for him to say...that is he was too scared to really say anything because he had no clue what would happened if he went and accidentally pissed off this demon. All he did was watch to see what the other male did and when he began to approach him he couldn't help but freeze and feel his whole body tense. However he did feel better when his chest no longer felt as tight as before. Exhaling he sat up straight and tried to remember his own name.

Clearing his throat he finally said, "My name is Daniel..." He then wanted to ask how to break the bond so Syrus could go back to hell but he figured that would piss the demon off too especially since he was interested in learning the "human culture" as he stated before. Looking down he nibbled on his bottom lip and tried to come up with some sort of solution to rid himself of this demon. Despite his faith fading recently he certainly thought he'd be going to heaven and if he was associated with a demon prince...well there went his ticket in! Even more so that this only confirmed that there is a heaven. He did not want to go to hell! He spent most of his life suffering and there was no way he wanted to suffer for eternity.

Standing he slowly followed the male out noticing his transformation. He didn't say anything a he walked down the steps and as Syrus was looking around Daniel felt like that was the perfect opportunity to leave...to run and get the hell out of there.

Despite his breathing problems he ran as fast as he could, rushing past people and bumping into them on accident which they weren't pleased about. He simply ran and ran until his lungs began to burn. Two blocks into his running he walked into the public library, wheezing and trying to catch his breath. He walked into the fiction aisle where he leaned against the book case to try and catch his breath. Surely he lost track of that demon.

Syrus let the boys name repeat in his mind a few times as to make sure that he would not forget it, though he doubted that he would anyways. Syrus had an impeccable memory. Just as he was turning to talk to the boy once more Daniel broke out in a sprint and took off down the street, resulting in a dull sigh to slip from Syrus's lips. And here he had thought things were going so well. Rolling his eyes he let the boy run, he'd simply send himself to the boys location once he had stopped, which was exactly what he did. Though he made sure to appear outside in an alleyway where he wouldn't be seen. Stepping out he squinted in the sunlight, unhappy with it's boring heat and intensity. Thankfully it was cold outside, and winter was on it's way which was quite pleasant in Syrus's mind. He already ran a a much higher body temperature than a human, thus the cold felt...good.

He moved into the library, making sure to walk...less gracefully as people's eyes turned upon him in wonder and awe. He was of course quite aware of how his looks affected others. Following the heavy breathing coming from the fiction aisle that only his keen sense of hearing would pick up, he found himself rounding the corner to look upon the blonde "Are you quite done trying to make you're lungs explode or shall we have another go?" He asked, letting the question hang in the air before he reached out to touch the boys chest again, letting the tightness ease once more. "We are connected Daniel. Running off won't shake me I'll have you know. I can find you anywhere." He stated as a matter of fact. Crossing his arms over his chest he leaned lightly on the book shelf, appearing...almost, human. He still wore the long white coat and black garments underneath, but all that did was make him stand out even more.

After briefly inspecting the blonde he came to a conclusion that he quite liked the spirit this boy possessed. "Your scared. which is understandable. But I'll have you know I'm not about to 'eat you' or 'corrupt' your soul." He voiced, dropping his eyes to inspect his nails idly. "If anything you do nothing but gain from this little contract." He stated, his eyes flashing back to the boy but now they were that liquid silver again. "As long as I'm here. You're body will get better. And I'm sure you are aware that you only had...what a year? Less really. Doctors are so unreliable. Thanks to you're body and immune system i would have given you maybe half a year at most." He continued, his tone rather passive but...truthful.

"Now- Shall we play another round of tag? Or will you accept the fact that I'm not going to hurt you and we can move on with things?" He added, his eyes fading to that soft blue again. He didn't really care that the boy ran, but it was intriguing. Surely he had known that running from a demon was near impossible. He was also expecting a few tricks from the boy...holy water, crosses, etc... Not that those things actually worked. Suddenly he reached up above his head with both arms in a feline stretch, though his eyes never left Daniel. "I find myself getting a bit hungry however, so shall we find somewhere to sit and eat?" He stated with ease, letting his arms fall to his side whilst raising a brow questioningly at the other male.

It was safe to say that Daniel was completely and utterly confused now. Yes he had gone to church wanting God to give him a second chance of living but now under the circumstances he wasn't sure if that was a good idea at all. Living with a demon would be weird and he just couldn't help but want to escape from this particular demon despite the fact that he stated he wouldn't eat him or harm him. In fact his illness was going away but still he just didn't know if he should even be happy about it.

It didn't help that he appeared before him again as he nearly had a heart attack. Taking a deep breath after Syrus touched his chest again he tried getting his thoughts together. Finally he stood straight though his shoulders were slumped while he stumbled back a bit.

"L..Look...I'll be okay to send you back. How do I do it? I can send you back right? I..I..." he walked around to go down another aisle where he rushed over to the tables. He sat there shaking his legs in nervousness though he felt better with other people around.

Syrus watched the boy as he stumbled back, of course he wanted to send him but... honestly Syrus wasn't sure how to break the binding himself. So he simply followed the boy as he turned the corner and took a seat, watching him before daring to approach again. Moving around the table he actually took a seat on the edge of it so that he was closer to the male, staring down at him with curious silver orbs. "It's funny, most wouldn't want me to leave knowing that it's because of my existence that they can live. "he stated, literally as a fact rather than trying to be kind. Out of habit he reached out to run his fingers through the blondes males hair, pushing it back so he could view his face better. "There's more color to your skin already. And you don't wreak of death anymore." He added as an observation, withdrawing his hand from the light touch. He was unusually gentle, for a demon at least, and his touch had been light and feathery.

Pulling his gaze away from the male he let his eyes observe the rest of those who were currently in the library. "I don't know how to break the binding. But I can find out if you wish, though it may take time." He stated casually, dropping his eyes back to the blonde. Pursing his lips slightly, he continued to gaze at the male "Now, food? preferably something sweet...and don't worry about money." He stated, basically indicating that he should lead the way.

He sat in silence, not sure what to say or do at the moment. His thoughts were so jumbled up at the moment that he literally thought of nothing at all. His body sort of went on auto-mode and so when Syrus mentioned food again he simply stood up and began to lead him out of the library while there were a couple restaurants and cafes near by. He wandered over toward a cafe where they sold coffee, tea, sandwiches and tasty pastries.

Walking in he looked back at Syrus, his mind kicking in again as he realized where he was. "Uh...here.." he mumbled and turned to go sit at a table and as he turned he bumped into a pretty girl.

Blushing lightly he looked down in embarrassment. "S..sorry..." he mumbled while her boyfriend decided he didn't like the fact that Daniel accidentally bumped into her. He grabbed his arm as Daniel cringed a bit since he was frail and so his grip was painful.

"Watch it f**," the boyfriend said as his girlfriend pulled him away and apologized softly for what he said. The two left while Daniel rubbed his arm and sighed, sitting over at a table by the corner.

Daniel was used to bullying and getting beat up so he wasn't really bothered by it.

Silver eyes narrowed as the scene unfolded before him, was Daniel really that timid? That afraid to stand up for himself. Gliding his tongue over teeth that were slightly jagged he watched the man and his girlfriend start to move away but being Syrus, well he moved in front of the man, his gaze rather menacing. The man shuddered, of course he didn't know why Syrus seemed to intimidating but he was.... even his girlfriend had to move behind her boyfriend, though Syrus had no interest in her. "I'd appreciate it if you apologize to my friend" he stated coolly, though the man simply glared, sneering at Syrus "Make me pretty boy" He growled snidely.

Syrus simply smiled, a smile that held no pleasantry what so ever....just a hint of malice. "Fine." He stated and reached out, grabbing the other mans arm where he had seized Daniel and squeezed. With what seemed to be little effort, he had the man gasping in pain. The bone wasn't broken but it was getting painfully close to snapping.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry man, just let me go!" He gasped, which was all Syrus needed and he let go, his gaze cold. He let his eyes dart to the woman who was now whimpering softly. "Leave" he muttered, and at that the man took off, dragging his girlfriend along whilst Syrus played it off like nothing had happened and simply sat down across from Daniel, a slight look of displeasure on his features. "I take it that is a common place event for you?" He stated, his eyes boring into the other male.

Daniel had looked up to see if Syrus joined him but was surprised to see that Syrus had other plans. He sighed heavily and shook his head while watching the demon finally join him. Looking up at him he shrugged, "Yeah, used to it I guess. I usually avoid people in general that that helps stop the bullying so it's all good. So...can you just get whatever you want to eat so I can go back home?"

Looking back down he then realized that he was living with his grandparents therefore it would be weird to bring Syrus along. Therefore he'd have to think of something though he quickly thought of a way to deal with this.

"By the way...I live with my grandma and grandpa so I can't bring you along...you'll have to find some other place to live...but uh...I'm sure you can find a place," At least he could avoid Syrus for a while so that was a good thing...or so he felt.

Syrus did indeed order himself something to eat, sticking with just pastry's ... he had a bit of a sweet tooth. When the food arrived he actually at in quite a reserved manner, showing off...his royal breeding in a way. "I wouldn't worry about your grandparents... Nothing will seem out of the usual if I come with you. And I don't plan on leaving your side quite yet" he stated bluntly between bites, making sure he had swallowed before he spoke. "Though I wont stay in your home.... I think I'll have an easy time convincing the neighbors to move out" he added casually, he wouldn't threaten...no he would persuade them to leave and it would be a happy move for them.

Finishing off his food he stood and looked to Daniel "Sit tight and I'll pay. After that you can show me the neighborhood." He stated before going up to the front of the restaurant to pay. After he had done so he returned to Daniel and held out a hand to help the boy up. Syrus was after all a gentleman and now it was his duty to take care of Daniel, whether the boy liked it or not. But he could be kind....well as kind as a demon can be? Actually, Syrus was one of the best tempered one would ever meet.

When Syrus left Daniel sighed heavily and shook his head since he had no way of telling the demon to leave him be nor did he have the confidence or strength to make him stay away. Up until now Daniel had been a lonely boy after all and the only friends he had were his stuffed animals and his grandparents. Pathetic. But nonetheless he was okay with it, especially since he got used to the idea that he was going to die sooner than later. To be honest Daniel was pretty used to that idea and he was used to being sick all the time that he felt weird with this new change of events.

Once Syrus returned he stood up on his own and simply nodded and went around showing him around. He simply pointed out things when they finally reached the suburbs and he showed him his neighborhood. There were people his age hanging around at one house having a party though Daniel was of course never invited. While he walked with Syrus one of the guys hanging by their car drinking yelled out, "Aye f**, that your boyfriend?!" They all laughed and continued on with their conversation.

The reason he was always referred to as a "f**" was because he looked so frail and feminine compared to most males their age. Some liked calling him Dandelion for some odd reason.

When they reached his house he looked to see that his grandparents were currently gone since the car wasn't there. It was odd that they weren't home so once he got the door opened he found the note on the table. Reading it he saw that they had to head out of state to visit his grandfathers brother who had a heart attack and was very ill in the hospital. They would return at least a month from now so they left him the numbers he could contact him as well as leaving him money for the month.

"Well....guess you can stay till my grandparents come home.." he then went to his room to lay down since his body was still achy. Upon entering his room, he would notice the piles of stuffed animals on his bed and how his room looked pretty girly.

Syrus did not comment when the boy refused his hand and simply stood on himself, simply walking along beside him. When those boys called out to Daniel Syrus turned his gaze so they could actually see his face...well at least the girls with them took notice and almost instantaneously they had lost all focus on the conversation at hand and started mumbling to each other about 'the silver haired guy' who had undoubtedly just made them all swoon. The boys of the group finally took notice and gave Syrus a good looking over, realizing that he was more than just a threat, he could steal any of those girls away if he wanted and the dirty looks he received with that knowledge made him chuckle, earning a few giggles from the girls.

Turning his gaze away he followed Daniel with a smug smile on his lips, he'd mess with those boys later as compensation for their rude little remark. Following the boy in he waited just inside the door, catching the remark about his grandparents being away. "Oh? Alright." He voiced, following Daniel once more but again he stopped in the doorway, his gaze analyzing the room carefully. "Well, its orderly" He stated approvingly. He liked clean places, it was a bit of a....Well one could just say he was a bit OCD.

"So those brats across the street give you grief often I'm guessing?" He voiced, remaining in the doorway however. He did not want to enter the boys personal space.... Even he could respect the sanctuary of ones own bedroom. "I'll simply stay on the couch in the living room." he stated before nodding his head and turning to return to the other room, letting the boy rest if he so needed it.

"Only when I go out," he replied as he some how managed to crawl into the pile of stuffed animals. He nodded toward Syrus and when he was sure he was gone Daniel greeted his animals friends while cuddling a bunch in his arms. He yawned and shut his eyes and allowed his exhaustion to lull him to bed. He slept rather peacefully, a true sleeping beauty just with stuffed animals sprawled all over him.

In the living room were pictures of Daniel with his parents as well as a picture with his parents with the words "In loving memory" below them indicating that they had passed. There were other pictures of his grandparents and an album with plenty more pictures. If Syrus were to open it and look at them he would see that Daniel was in fact a lonely child all through his life and there were several pictures of him in the hospital smiling as if it was something normal.
