[Early Evening, Soldul]

To say Suluksati felt a little uncomfortable was an understatement. She felt... off... on the dark contident. Not quite right. Oh, she was perfectly healthy, she was eating right and (sometimes) sleeping right. She was well fed, and the prey here was fair. It wasn't a matter of feeling ill. Just awkward. She didn't belong here. Her magic didn't belong here. It felt lewd somehow to use it, and even when she did it didn't feel as powerful as she would have liked.
But if she didn't travel to Soldul, then she wouldn't be able to fight for her cause. Dragons lived here too and for their sake she had to patrol here. Even if she kept flinching when she even thought she could hear wings above her.
Diabi were scary, okay?
She didn't feel heroic slinking along the ground, but being in the air made her feel even more out of place. OH LOOK AT ME I AM A WHITE BLOTCH IN A PREDOMINANTLY DARK PLACE. She wasn't sure if she was ready to do something risky like that. Soon, maybe, soon. She wasn't scared, no!
Just... Not right now. Not with that red moon in the sky, which looked far scarier than it did anywhere else she had visited during it's rise. Here, it seemed oppressive, pushing against her magic. She looked at it warily as it began to rise into the darkening sky.

Toki was out exploring once again. He'd felt slightly relieved once a young Drakien from a nearby clan had come to train with him. Perhaps a new Shaman to stay here? Perhaps, but the lad was very much homesick. So Toki decided to throw in off the deep end and give him other things to think about. Toki left on an adventure leaving him behind to be shaman! Of course he'd warned the entire clan except the boy, since there was no reason to make it too tough. But they were told to test him, see how he worked out, and Toki was leaving so that they didn't come to him, but to the lad! That and he wanted to live some more.He was old yes, but something had awakened in him that pushed him to go out to taste the excitement some more!

As he flew about, he wondered where he should go. He'd visited Ayr and Sernia already, so perhaps he should head to Soudul this time! humming to himself as he crossed the large oceans, he felt that old thrill again. It'd been much too long since he'd done this!

Eventually he landed inside the dark forests of Soudul. Shaking his wings out he sniffed about. Perhaps I shouldn't have come during the Blood Moon, he thought with a smile. Lets see if this old dragon still has it in him! Chuckling at his thoughts, he walked silently through the forest, enjoying the scent of the dank forest after the long years of desert. But as he wandered about, he caught a scent that did not belong. What's an Aeduan doing here? He thought incredulously. The scent of the Aeduan magic and physical scent stuck out like a sore thumb to Toki's senses. Curious as to why one of the light Drakeins would be here during the Blood Moon, he began to track the scents.

Sulu was feeling more and more like an idiot. The forest seemed scarier and more foreboding with every step. Who knew what lurked in these dark, shrieking trees? In, above, and among? Her imagination- and she didn't have much of one- was going wild, dreaming up vague terrors beyond the shadows around her.
At this point she really just wanted to find a Ysali to follow around. Even if she had to protect it from something nasty and horrible, or if she was attacked, at least then she would feel some sort of rightness of purpose. But now? With nothing but herself and the darkness? Not so much.
At this point, she really just wanted to crawl under a rock and hide there until the blood moon was over... which would probably be for a goodly while, so that wasn't a very good idea. She did, however, look longingly at every slightly suitable hiding place she passed. But no, she had to keep going and find a Ysali or something to protect or do, and she was losing hope of even that.
She'd been distracted, but a different scent reached her nose- not of bog and plants and dark metallic scents that she didn't want to think about.
No, this was Ozone and Male and Drakein. Her crest, which had been firmly flattened against her head, rose in interest. A fellow Drakein? A Kiandri? Here? That was something at least! She began to head towards the scent. She wasn't sure what she was hoping for, but at least it wouldn't be a some demon thing's blood-moon-powered large chompy jaws.

Toki, after enjoying his time tracking, noticed that the Aeduan scent was now getting closer. Ah, she must have sensed m to he thought with a smile. Sitting down to wait, he curled his tail about his feet. I guess a Kiandri stands out as much here as an Aeduan!

I wonder what this one is doing here, he thought once again. He kept his senses on alert, making sure that nothing else was approaching other than the Aeduan.

She moved faster, noting how close the scent was, and how alive it seemed! She couldn't sense anything else through the cloud of terror that seemed to lie thick on the forest- she knew there were things out there, things that wanted her blood, but she didn't know if any were stalking her. The whole place just seemed so hostile... another Drakein would be welcome company. She'd feel much better with someone else than alone, definitely.
Finally, she caught a glimpse of the drakein and started making a fast beeline towards him, looking as though she would really like to just curl up and cry.
Finally, a few feet away, she stopped and looked at him with a mixture of caution and hope.
"H-hello there."
The oppressive pressure seemed to increase as she spoke and she flinched, looking uneasily around her. She really wanted to leave. Badly.

"Hello back young one," Toki said with a smile. "What's an Aeduan doing out here during the blood moon? It's not safe for you to venture here." He stood up and shook his wings out. The evening air was chilly and slightly damp, making his muscles stiffen up and bones ache. Oh the joys of age.

Walking over towards her he gave her a comforting nuzzle, the poor thing sounded rather unnerved to be out here. Though she is powerful, he thought, I can defiantly sense a lot of power in her. Of course, all the power in the world doesn't help feeling lonely or unnerved about some situations!

She leaned into the nuzzle, feeling like a youngster again... in a good way. He was obviously very old and wise and mature and all those good things that made her feel safe.
Powerful she may be, but when the world feels as though it is hostile towards your very soul, then its hard to not want to cringe and flinch away.
"I know..." she said. She knew she looked absolutely pathetic, and right now she was just happy that there was someone there to be nice to her in this horrible place. "I didn't time it right, elder." she said, "And now I'm trapped here and scared to leave..." She didn't know what this drakein could do for her (other than the comfort of his presence) but it was just nice to know he was there.

Toki sensed her need to be comfort and mantled a wing above her like she was a small kiendred in need of shelter.
"Hrm, well, I sense nothing near by and I met nothing on my way in. So I can lead you out to the sea where you can find your way to a better place." He chuckled softly. "Such a strong Drakein, yet so foolish! Let's get you someplace where you don't feel so frightened or weak. I can only imagine ho it feels to be an Aeduan on the darkest of the continents during the Blood moon! Next time, go visit Eowyn where you will at least be warm." With that he stood up and began to lead her back the way he had come in. Blind he may b, but he could follow his scent quite easily out here! There was no wind blowing away his tracks and scent like the desert did, and he knew how to track there! Here, in tis dark forest filled with all sorts of plants and soils to catch and keep a scent? Oh, it was child's play! I should go out more often, I keep meeting such interesting people when I do!

She certainly felt like a small keindred in need of shelter.
"Thank you..." she said, following him closely. Eowyn sounded very, very nice right about now. She put her faith in this wise elder.
"I... it was very stupid." But her logic had been good! The Diabi were big and were bullies. Yes she extended her protection to them, but she still did not like them. Maybe they wouldn't be so hunted during this horrible time, but maybe they would be on the hunt for prey and sport. The poor little Ysalis would not stand a chance against them...
She just... hadn't taken the whole Aedaun thing into consideration. A huge, unhappy mistake on her part, and she was kind of lost in this wood now, her only hope this kind elder.
She couldn't focus on any scent- her fear kept distracting her. So she trusted him, and longed for sunlight on her feathers again.

Short tag is short, sorry!

Toki trotted off back along the path he'd taken and kept talking to her to try and make her feel calmer and safer.
"Very stupid indeed! But now you've learned a lesson and haven't died, so you've come away with something. What where you doing here anyways? Dragon hunting can be done on any land so I feel like that's not why you are here." At least, he hoped that wasn't why she was here! Cause that meant she would be going after Diabi, and during this time of year that was a death wish for Aeduans!

Short post is fine!

He was right, she still lived, and that was worth something. His presence made her feel grounded and stable. She wondered if it was his Gaili magic, or the scent of sun-cooked sand that clung to him, or just the fact that he was older and venerable and wise and kind (or at least kinder than the lands beyond!) As she thought about it, she realized that it was all of the above. And, he was company, and he hadn't run her out yet.
"No... Not exactly..." she said, almost shyly, her eyes downcast. She didn't want to lie- her family had raised her not to lie, especially not to one's respected elders, and particularly not one doing you an enormous favor. "I mean... Yes, but... no." she knew then that she should have remained quiet. It would have avoided the awkward dancing around something that she was far from ashamed of, and she dreaded his next question.

Toki stopped and gave her a reproving glare, "Speak up and talk sense! Avoiding a topic gets you nowhere." He grumbled and turned back to continue on their way out of the forest. "You do not strike me as an idiot; a fool for coming here during this time, yes, but not an idiot. Do not prove me wrong and keep speaking nonsense! Speak up now." Silly girl! Guess her reason for being here wasn't widely accepted or she had meet disapproval from others for .. whatever she was doing. Now he was curious, what made someone who had her strength act so awkward and try to very obviously not answer a question?

Sulu flinched a little at his glare, as admonished as a hatchling. She wished that she had kept her damn mouth shut, because now she had to answer. Her pride and all of her training in manners forced her to do so.
I... wasn't hunting them." she said hesitantly, "I was trying to protect them..." she looked away nervously, The dragons, I mean."
Well, there it was. It wasn't her usual spiel, but this was an unusual time and neither her confidence nor her dignity had recovered enough from the horrible forest to properly tell him.
He won't just leave me here, right? she thought desperately. She still couldn't smell the sea through the smell of her own fear and all the terrible magic and... things... in the forest. She felt as though, if he left her here, even if they were closer to the coast than before, she would be lost in more ways than one. He's too kind for that. Surely.
She willed it to be so, fervently, even as she damned herself further.
"I just thought that... Well... the Ysali would need some additional protection at this time of year, on this contident..." she was babbling, and she knew it. She only wanted to explain it to him, maybe make him less likely to dump her by the side of the trail. "Between the empowered Diabi and the bloodthirsty Magescans... I thought they would be hunted more than usual... so..." She trailed off, looking warily at Toki. What would he do?

"Protecting dragons? That's a novel idea. Why do you want to protect them?" He asked curiously. Most younglings tended to just want to kill them for their orbs...
"Did they ask for your protection? Or this just something you decided to do on your own?" Wonder if there's a story behind her thoughts; or is she just someone who wants everything to be happy and peaceful. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but Dragons, Drakeins, and Magescians are just too different to live with out some conflict arising.. plus there's limited territory and the dragons keep encroaching on our lands..... Poor lass, she's in for a world of hurt. Not a lot of people would understand a willingness to protect dragons....

Well, he wasn't reacting with instantaneous anger, and he wasn't biting, clawing, or attacking her in any way. Nor was he leaving her to rot in this nighted forest.

That was a good sign.

"No, sir... They didn't ask." she hesitated. She didn't know if she should tell him that dragons didn't appreciate her efforts very much. But this was an elder. She was not going to lie, and she was done with omission. "Actually, sir, they... don't like me protecting them. They are proud creatures after all..." which was a shame, but since about half the time this meant that she - and others - fled from their claws, she tried not to mind too much. In the end, the dragon lived. That was what mattered.

"As for why... hmm..." She had a lot of reasons for why, all slightly conflicting and confusing in her head. "I just thought that someone should."[/color she said, going with the clearest of the reasons she had.

"They are such magnificent creatures... I just thought it was wrong to hunt them so... so..." she struggled for a word, "Callously."

She hoped he understood. Few had. In fact, she hadn't met anybody who understood her reasons yet. Then again, he was clearly very wise. Perhaps he would.
