For awhile now, Delilah had seen signs around town looking for teachers for something called the 64 Kala. At first she had blown it off as just another prank or scam or some scheme to get women alone but after seeing them enough, she had finally picked a flyer off the wall and personally looked into it.

Now, Delilah found herself standing out in front of the gates of the large mansion. Unlike many she bet, Delilah felt right at home looking over the place. She was born into a large family who a appeared to be divided in half. One side knew how to make money work for them. The other knew how to spend money. She was from the former. Thus as she walked strongly towards what she assumed to be the intercom, Delilah only smiled.

She had called several days ago to set up a time to come, offering services in fashion and make-up. Strangely, her make-up skills had been requested. Thus why she had a bag of brushes and colors along with her normal day purse. Be prepared. They might have money but if they need make-up lessons, who was to say they had everything?

Pushing the button, she waited and looked back towards the main entrance.

Sorry that took so long >.<

What exactly had the boy been thinking when he decided to take on all of these lessons? First, he had his heart broken by his flower arranging teacher, then he pretty much brought to tears by his theater teacher, and let him not even MENTION the juggling teacher, who seemed to hate his guts right of the bat! The list was one of torture and suffering, and no wonder if someone accomplished the entire list they were to find nirvana, there would be finally freedom from this list!

And yet here he was, through all his complaining, awaiting for his next teacher to arrive at his place. He vaguely wondered if the woman had thought he was a girl. With the name Isha, and the fancy, sparkly fliers his mother had decided to make, it wouldn't surprise him in the least. When the intercom buzz, Isha was right on it, bounding from his seat in the parlor to the front door, opening it up, as well as pressing the button on the side of the doorframe that unlocked the gate.

"Come on in!" He called to the woman, not leaving the front porch. The boy hadn't been wearing shoes all day, and he sooo wasn't about to get his feet all cold and muddy from the rather bleak autumn weather.

"You must be Delilah White, my new teacher. I'm pleased to make your acquaintance, and I hope to learn alot from you." But what exactly was there to learn anyway? Make up was just slapping color on your face, wasn't it?

Strange, a boy's voice?

As the gate swung open, Delilah shifted to her left hand so her right would be free. She had taken note that the voice sound a little like a male's but over all, that should not surprise her. What did was how friendly it was. Maybe a younger brother in the house?

As she walked up to the entrance though where a young man stood, Delilah was fighting back a few things. The house, mansion more so, the decor, and everything about that seemed to fit. The boy, no older than herself, made her want to re-think this all again.

"Isha?" Delilah said with a bit of shock forcing a crack in her voice. Shaking it off as soon as she caught it, Delilah sold it to herself that he came from a rich family. This was not the oddest thing they did.

"It is a pleasure Mr. Chaudhary. I hope I can be of some assistance to you today. May I ask the occasion?" Delilah reached her hand out to offer a handshake before half motioning if she could come in. Light jacket or not, when that cooler air blew, it was nippy. Not to mention he didn't have shoes on. Brave man.

Oh yes, of course, this woman was going to judge him on his want of learning things. Typical close minded people, thinking that everyone should fit into their version of norms. But of course, Isha's thoughts didn't permeate past his mind, and he smiled just as pleasantly as when he had greeted her. He did not, however, take her hand to shake, instead moving towards the inside of the house to let her pass.

"The occasion? Did you not read the ad I had posted? I mean, you must have seen it, that is why you are here, is it not?" Closing the door behind the woman after she entered, he motioned her to follow him, not far into the house at all. The parlor room where they were to set up was only a few feet away from the entrance of the house.

"I suppose a small history lesson won't be that difficult." Isha did roll his eyes, however, with his back facing the woman for the moment. It was rude to be be irritated at his teacher, especially if they took the time to come to his house. And it wasn't as if this girl was an adult, not at all, she seemed to be his age! That was definitely a first; all the women he seemed to meet were far older than him, or little children. He took a seat on one of the chairs that was set up infront of a vanity that was placed in the parlor only for today.

"The 64 Kala is a list of fine arts and talents that Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, a Hindi deity and one of the gods that I follow, was known to have. In a mission to become closer to enlightenment, I have decided that I wanted to learn more about these arts, and by doing so, I was led to post the ad, looking for teachers who may know well of such talents."

Delilah had not missed it. In two seconds he seemed put off and then back to himself. And why not? She had not been as composed as she should have been and let her surprise get the better of herself. The ignored handshake confirmed it as she dropped her own and stepped inside.

Waiting for direction, Delilah followed the man into the parlor and then towards the vanity. She was surprised to see the set up so beautifully done mostly because she personally loved the chairs in front of it. Yet she listened strongly about the 64 Kala and nodded.

"And one of them is to learn the art of applying color to the face and body?" Delilah replied before moving towards the empty seat and motioning towards it. "May I?" She asked placing her bag down. "I just wondered if you might have timed it with an event or special occasion."

Looking at the mirror, Delilah smiled before glancing back at him. "So how much do you know about make-up?"

Cooro Cooro
So I'm way behind on everything...So sorry...
PostPosted: Mon Jan 06, 2014 11:35 pm

"I would like to think that it is quite a bit more than simply adding color to the body. Rather, I'd be doing so to please the gods, in a sense. It's more complicated than just trying to be pretty. But no, there's no special event. Simply a student who is trying to learn a new skill is all I am." As the young woman moved, so did Isha, moving to take a seat beside her while she placed her bag on the Vanity.

"I suppose it would be important to know the different pieces that can be applied to the face, for a start. And also ways to amplify one's appearance. you know, a way to bring focus to certain parts of the face like your eyes, or maybe your lips, as I've noticed that those two places are a common focal point."

Nodding as she listened, Delilah knew that she could not relate to him on the idea of pleasing the gods when she herself was raised to believe in one. That would not stop her from trying to help though. His beliefs were his. Hers were hers. Things like that made the world go round.

"You are both correct and also making a beginner error." Delilah commented as she took her seat and looked into the mirror. Motioning for him to do the same, she took a slow breath before saying "Makeup is not meant to hide who you are but to enhance your gifts. May become reliant on it to the point where the make-up defines them. To do that is for the make-up to wear you and not what should happen. Now, take a good look at yourself in the mirror and tell me, what do you think is your best feature on your face?"

"I never said I was 'hiding who I was.' If you were listening properly, I did say that it is to amplify one's appearance, which means the same as enhance, but I digress." Isha still wasn't enjoying their little lesson, if only because that bitter taste the woman gave him still lingered. But whatever, this meeting wouldn't last very long if she didn't actually start doing something. The question about the feature on his face startled him a bit. It was as if she was saying that the rest of him was just not important! Atleast, that's how he interpreted it. However huffing, Isha pointed at his eyes.

"I am rather plain looking, if you ask me, but my eyes are rather pretty, I'd like to think. Bright eyes against dark skin.. I'm often told they are like skyblue gems.. So I suppose the goal would be to try to make them 'pop'?"

The look Delilah cast him was the first not very friendly one she had given in awhile. It was quick but it was there. "And if you listened to what I was saying, you would not have heard me direct it at you in general." She returned and dug into her bag before picking out several small compacts and a few brushes. Delilah used mineral make up for most items.

"Then your eyes are what we shall make pop. Though I was also going to say your cheek bones are quiet lovely. Many women would kill for this." She finished, stealing a glance towards him in the mirror as she opened a container and picked up a small brush. "This is called concealer. It's used to cover up anything you don't want the world to see. Most noteably, achy or scars left over from it. Yet your skin is clear so it would be used to high red spots or the remains of sleepless nights. If I may, I will apply it to one side of your face and then have you follow the actions on the other. So you can also see the stages as we go."

She dipped the brush into the powder and tapped the extra off before looking towards him, waiting for the final permission to touch him before going towards the area under his right eye.

"Directed towards me or not, it still came out, and I took it the wrong way." How long had she been here in his home? Not even ten minutes, yet she was already grating on his nerves so much that he wanted to just kick her out right there. But who knew when another opportunity to learn such a thing would present itself? Instead, he calmly took a deep breath, attempting to be a civilized boy as he was raised to be.

"Thank you. I've never really been one to think I looked attractive or not. It's rather pleasant to hear, even if I think my attitude has been ugly thus far. I apologize. You may proceed, and I will go ahead and follow your direction."

Opening her mouth, Delilah quickly shut it and kept her thoughts to herself. She had been there not even ten minutes and she already wanted this to be over. Still, she had agreed to do it and she was not about to let him chase her off like that. Not unless she could get a few words in before.

But when he apologized, her shoulders softened and she nodded. "Thank you, and I apologize as well. I did not mean to offend you. But anyway." She spoke and shook off just a touch more of the extra before moving the brush to the under side of his eye.

"Concealer is a tool that you make work for you." Her strokes were soft taps at first, dotting it around his eye and then to the corner of his nose. "It will work to blend to your skin but it can look a bit spotty at first. That is why we use a powder afterwards to blend it into your skin." As soon as she finished, she handed him the brush and slid the powder over towards him. "Just a small dip and tap of the brush. You won't need too much with this. Also, a perk of mineral powder is that it will not clog your pours as badly as cremes." She threw in with a soft smile.

Apologies accepted, Isha's ruffled feathers neatly went back into place, and he sat there, trying to keep his face as neutral as possible as she messed around with the makeup in her hand. What an usual feeling; even with as light of touches she was using, his face already felt heavy.

"Powder to blend, and just a dip.." He repeated back to her, cracking a little smile as he took the brush. "It definitely tickles.. " Taking a bit of a turn to face the mirror of the Vanity, he smile just broke out more, as he could already see a subtle difference, and he attempted to recreate Delilah's steps to the application.

"And when I'm ready to remove this makeup, there's something special for it right? It certainly can't be as easy as the Mulan movie made it, right?" If it was.. Then such products wouldn't be needed, right? And how did she even manage to get such perfect wipe anyway?

Delilah smiled when he did as well. She could see where it would tickle if one was not used to it. The first time she had someone put it on for her, even she had to pull back. "You really do have very impressive cheek bones." Delilah commented as she took a moment to look back at her bag. Highlighter and a bronzer were a must for him.

The question about Mulan made Delilah release a chuckle as she covered her mouth with her hand. "Sadly, it is not that easy. Though I believe many wish it was." Her hands went back to her bag and she picked up a small bottle, a box, and a package of cotton pads. "This right here, she pointed to a purple bottle with Lancôme written on it. "Is to remove your eye makeup. It can sort of take off everything but at the price, you want to stick to just eyes. This will pull off even the heaviest of eye liners." The next thing she pointed to was the small box. "The little towelettes get the rest. It's about as close to Mulan as we can get."

After pointing to each, she went back to seeing him attempt to recreate the look. "A little lighter touch under your eye. Too hard there and you can damage the delicate skin. Otherwise, it looks good. "

Reaching over to her materials, she picked up a pencil. "Now brows." She smiled taking the top of it off and looking to his eyebrows.

"I imagine that would be quite the money maker, being able to create a make up removal so smooth and efficient ast Mulan's face wipe." Though It seemed unlikely that it could be seen though makeup, his cheeks flushed a little tinge red once she complimented his cheeks again.

He paid very close attention to her notions about the products, making mental notes about the eyes and the wipes. Her touches continued to make him want to fidget and smile more, shying slightly away from the brush, but he stood steadfast, enduring her actions as best as he could.

"Brows? Do you mean shaping them? Or filling them in? Are you going to shave my eyebrows? I did that once on accident, when I was a wee child. Whole eyebrow, right off. I'm sure it'll be neater than that, right?" This time, he did move away a bit, giving his nose a bit of a scratch as he laughed at his own little story. He could even remember when he started parting his hair over his eye during elementary school, trying to hide it. Ahh, to be that young and simple again!

It took all she had to chock back the laugh that was wanting to escape when he mentioned shaving his eyebrow. Though it managed to hold back, she did manage to jerk slightly sending the top of the brow pencil onto the table top.

"No no. No shaving." She turned and smiled back at him as she looked over for a brighter light. "Though would you be apposed to some plucking? I just noticed a few stray hairs right between your two eye brows that could be removed."

Placing the pencil down, she reached back into her bag and pulled up a brow brush as well as a pair of tweezers. "You know, I had something like that happen to me in pre-school. I was sitting there listening to my teacher and rubbing my eyes. Suddenly, all my eye lashes started to fall out!" She shared with a surprise tone looking back into the mirror. "People told me they wouldn't grow back." Turning to look at him, she smiled. "They were wrong."
