Name: Kent Clark Kavanaugh

Nickname: It's pretty hard to find a nickname for 'Kent,' though on occasion, nerds will call him 'Superman' or variations thereof.

Age: 32

Birthday: August 31st

Sign: Virgo

Gemstone: Zircon

Blood Type: B+

Fav. Food: Homecooked comfort foods. Dishes like mac & cheese, lasagna, mashed potatoes, and meatloaf get his stomach rumbling, especially when they're fresh out of the oven. He's especially fond of peach cobbler, and when it's served with vanilla ice cream, he couldn't be happier.

Hated Food: Anything cooked by Tara. >.>; She's actually a competent chef when she follows the directions, but she can never seem to resist adding an extra ingredient (or five), which seldom ends well. Kent has had too many unpleasant surprises over the years to risk subjecting his tastebuds to further torture. Otherwise, while he'll eat most foods, he's never really enjoyed soup. It's messy and sloppy and cools down way too quickly, and cold soup is just gross.

School/Job: Working on a doctorate in computer engineering at Destiny City University. To pay the bills, he works as tech support at the Hunt & Marshall Law Offices.

Hobbies:

Better, Faster, Stronger: Improvement is one of Kent's main interests. It's what led him into his field, and is one of the reasons he's continuing his schooling, even though he could pursue a better job with the degree he has. Part of this takes the form of him trying to improve himself, usually by reading self-help books and keeping himself educated. But usually this desire results in him tinkering with electronic devices. Kent has been known to take apart appliances to try and make them better, though his definition of better tends to change depending on his mood. His results vary; it's true that his rewiring of the CD player has led to better sound quality, but tinkering with the toaster just left them with a broken toaster. This doesn't bother Kent too much; if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

That's Entertainment!: If it's on television, Kent will watch it. Even if there's nothing good on, he's the sort of guy who likes to have it on just as background noise. While he'll tolerate reality shows or home-shopping channels, he does have his favorite shows. Crime dramas are particularly fun, and one odd way of bonding with his mother has been through watching Matlock reruns. He has fun trying to solve the cases before the detectives can, and the crazier the scenario, the better. Pretty much anything that can be classified as a classic is an automatic favorite as well, especially sitcoms that he can watch repeatedly and still laugh at every time.

Cookin' With Gas: Kent loves to cook. Sometimes he's too tired at the end of the day to do anything more than make a phone call or fall into a booth at his favorite eatery, but whenever he gets a chance, he loves to whip up a delicious meal. He prefers doing new spins on tried and true favorites to brand new recipes, but is willing to do a certain amount of experimentation in order to make things even better. He's actually pretty good, largely because he's made the same dishes so often that it's second nature to him. When he can't spare the time and energy needed for actual cooking, he'll settle for leafing through magazines or watching cooking shows, but these just tend to make him want to get to work in the kitchen.

Skating Through Life: Whether it's on wheels or blades, Kent can't get enough of skating. Sure, it's good exercise, but that's not really the point. The almost frictionless way he can move makes this activity totally irresistible. Kent owns rollerblades and ice skates, and depending on the season, will go for a skate in the park or at the rink most weekends. He's even been caught trying to do some of the fancier moves from figure skating, which he insists is just an offshoot of his attempts to escape the forces of physics. First friction, then gravity! And if it looks cool, so much the better, but he won't be showing off his moves anytime soon, since they tend to end with him crashing into the boards.

Virtues:

Don't Sweat The Small Stuff: And it's (almost) all small stuff. Running late for work? He can make it up later. Lost keys? That's what spares are for. Exploding microwave? Hey, they needed a new one anyway. Kent knows that it's not worth focusing on most setbacks, and though he doesn't handle big crises nearly as well, he can shrug off most things that would stop other people in their tracks. Little setbacks and irritations tend to be laughed off. This isn't to say that he won't be upset at, say, a bad grade on a test. But he doesn't let these small frustrations rule his life, and not only is he good at moving on without dwelling on them, but he encourages others to do the same.

More Important To Be Nice: Despite what they say about finishing last, Kent is a nice guy. He's willing to put other people's wants and interests before his own, if it means making them happy and avoiding conflict. It's not that he has no self-interest, but generally he's prepared to wait his turn and let other people go first. And second, and third. This goes beyond just being patient; if he's trying to help someone important to him, he'll put all of his effort into it, even if his own work suffers for it. Kent's personal goals are almost never prioritized, but he doesn't mind much, as long as he feels that he's helping in some way.

Rhyme And Reason Reign Once More: Rational thought is very important to Kent. He's serious about taking time and going through things carefully and logically, and coming to a sensible and meaningful verdict. Rarely will he jump to conclusions or make decisions without thinking about them. It may take him a little while longer to act than some people, but his actions are usually purposeful and thought-out, and he's able to explain his reasoning when asked, which helps prevent misunderstandings.

Common Courtesy: Being polite goes a long way. Kent is painfully courteous, even with people he doesn't particularly like. This can make him come off as being distant sometimes, but really, he just wants to avoid offending anyone. With people he knows well he's more relaxed, willing to joke and even tease them, but some lines are never crossed. Unless he's really upset (in which case, see below) he won't do away with the civility he believes is due everyone, even if he doesn't recieve any in return.

Flaws:

Going To Hell In A Handbasket: For all his skill with handling small day-to-day mishaps, Kent is not the person you want to go to for help with a serious emergency. First, he will panic. Then, he will shrug off his calm, cool, and collected demeanor like an ill-fitting raincoat. When he's worked up, Kent has a hard time listening to reason or calming down. Instead, he favors going out and whacking whatever the problem is until it goes away, which is rarely a good idea. Even if the cause of his distress isn't something tangible, he'll still be very likely to do something stupid while he's upset, and then regret it later.

An Elephant Never Forgets: If you wrong Kent, while he may be able to forgive you, he will never forget it. He'll think about it for all future dealings, and will slip reminders into conversations, just to make sure it never happens again. It can be frustrating for someone who's apologized and supposedly been absolved from their guilt to have it brought up again. And again. And again. But by far, Kent is hardest on himself. He will constantly remind himself of his mistakes, and punish himself for his failures, whether real or imagined. When he's railing at himself, it's hard to get him to stop and focus on other things, even if they're important.

A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Change: Once Kent settles on a course of action, that's it. It's nigh-impossible to get him to switch gears that are in motion, or to reconsider a decision that he carefully considered. While things are still in the planning stages, he's quite willing to take advice from anyone who offers it. But when he settles on something, as far as he's concerned, it's settled. It would take a ton of evidence and some serious persuasion to get him to even think about changing his mind, and considering is not a promise that it will happen. Because most of the time, it won't.

The Man Behind The Mask: Who is Kent Kavanaugh? Nobody knows for sure. Kent tends to prioritize others before himself, so his ambitions are unclear. He bottles up his real feelings to avoid upsetting people, and covers everything with the gloss of politeness. Yes, he's a nice guy and a decent cook. Beyond that, it's hard to say, since what he shares about himself is carefully chosen to keep things simple. It's easy to get the sense that he's hiding something, even when he isn't. Unless you've managed to push one of his berserk buttons- then the dam breaks, and everything he's been keeping inside comes out in a torrent, whether you wanted to hear it or not.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Dark gray, almost black. Kent wears contacts most of the time, but will fall back on glasses if necessary.

Hair: Black, with blue highlights in the right light. Worn in a short, no-fuss style.

Face: With a nose and mouth and everything!

Clothes: Depends on the occasion. Kent dresses somewhat formally for work, in button-down shirts, slacks, and the occasional blazer or suit jacket. At home, he tends to take it easy in jeans and t-shirts. For school, or pretty much anyplace that isn't work or home, he mixes the pieces, aiming for a sort of casual-yet-polished look. These outfits don't always mesh well, but they don’t totally clash either.

Knight Title: Nazca Page of Mercury

Challenge: To find the truth, read between the lines.

Uniform: See awesome art! ->

Weapon --

Page: A hardcover book. The writing is in some strange alien language, and glows faintly. Short of whacking someone over the head with it, he can't use it for much. No magic.

Squire: An ornate hardcover book. When it's opened, the writing glows and projects a book-sized holographic screen an inch above its surface. The book is capable of analyzing anything or anyone Nazca focuses on, giving basic information such as physical characteristics (dimensions, mass, chemical composition). In the case of scanning powered characters, he can gain info on power level, magic reserves, and so on. He is not capable of analyzing game-breaking things like identities or abilities. It's possible to accidentally analyze something, and waste his magic, if he's distracted. Nazca must keep channeling to continue the analysis, and his pool at this stage lasts about thirty seconds, or enough time to gather three pieces of information.

Knight: A bigger, really fancy book, possibly with a metal cover. At this stage, Nazca's magic pool lasts fifty seconds, or enough time to gather five pieces of information. He has more influence over what data is processed, but still cannot analyze identities, abilities, or anything game-breaking.

Summon: A bird based on the Nazca Condor, which flies at enemies to scratch and peck at them.
