The problem with having a perpetually broken door was that an insistent enough minipet could knock it right down and just wait for someone to hold the front door of the dorm open long enough to let him make a break for it.
Sura had come back to her room to find the door knocked down and only Dormin and Yorda inside. A look around the dorm had dug up Pragma and Umbrae, but no matter how much she'd checked and called for him, Sura had not been able to find Darus. A small ask around and one of the other students in the dorm had mentioned seeing one of her Follossus outside. Albeit this had been a mostly annoyed sounding admission likely due to the fact that Sura's door had made quite the noise when it had gone down.
However, 'outside' of the dorm meant there were only a million places that Darus could be, which meant it was now time for a hunt.

Chaya had climbed a tree outside the dorms. However, once up the tree, she had made the mistake of looking down, and discovered that it looked like an awfully long way down. Somehow, it hadn't occurred to her that she could just go partially insubstantial to keep herself from getting hurt even if she jumped; she was perched on a branch, well balanced, but her ears partially flattened as she contemplated the rather sticky problem of how, exactly, she was going to get out of the tree that had been so easy to get into.

A walk around the monster dorms had revealed no Darus. So Sura had moved on to the ghost dorms next.
She'd been able to hear the rustling in the tree and at first Sura had looked up into it as if expecting Darus to have climbed up it like a cat (somehow). Instead, however, it seemed like whomever was up there was a wee bit big to be a Follossus.
Also the wrong color.
And Chaya.
"See anything interesting up there?" Sura asked from the bottom branch of the tree, arms resting on it as she looked up at the familiar ghost.

"Sura! Hi Sura," Chaya chirped brightly, like an oversized and far-too-canid bird. A wingless one. Well, maybe not so very birdlike after all. "I found a nest and some eggs, but I didn't catch the squirrel and now I can't get down." She kicked at the branch she was crouched on. "I don't want to fall."

"Hi." Sura replied calmly, trying to keep up mentally with what it was Chaya was saying. What about the squirrel and why would a squirrel have eggs and - oh she went after a squirrel and found not squirrel, okay, she was following.
"Would you like a hand?" she offered, "I guess it would end up being a head in my case, though."

"Yes please! You're very tall so that would be very helpful," Chaya agreed happily, and edged carefully along the branch in Sura's direction. Her tail had been tucked down along one of her legs, but now it began to wag hesitantly.

Sura probably would have smiled at this point if her facial muscles were arranged for such a thing to be possible. Instead, she made a pleased rumbling noise as she took a step back, holding her arms up as she readied herself to catch her (currently up a tree) friend.
"I will catch you, I promise." Sura assured - as long as she didn't have to go running more than 10 feet either direction to make sure of that it was a pretty good word to go on too.

"Okay, um, here I come!" It was another moment before Chaya could gather her nerves sufficiently, but she took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and hopped off the branch trustingly.

Having an extra 2 feet off the ground compared to most people meant she had an extra 2 feet in which she could catch Chaya - wait, that meant she needed to do it sooner, wait ahhhh!
Actually no, she had this. Sura had to step forward a bit to adjust for Chaya's jump, but the colossus grabbed her around her middle before nearly hoisting the ghost over her shoulder, her own tail mocking a wag. "Got ya!"

Chaya grabbed at Sura's shoulder as she was caught, her tail waving wildly; once she felt a little more stable she threw her arms around Sura's neck and hugged her. "Thank you! I didn't know how I was going to get down, that was really good!"

Not one for laughing, Sura just rumbled with contentment instead and leaned her head into the side of Chaya's. "You are welcome, Chaya." she rumbled, "though I would say that was more your own effort than mine." Sura added as she set her friend down onto her feet.

Chaya shook herself as she was put down, settling her pelt back into place and tugging her oversized sweater back down from where it had ridden up. "I just jumped, you're the one who caught me," she beamed. "How are you doing? What are you doing today?"

"Jumping and trusting is the hard part, though." Sura replied, though she couldn't help but be glad she'd actually caught Chaya after she'd jumped instead of everything ending in disaster. At what she'd been up to, Sura's eyes shifted briefly to a concerned yellow before back to the docile blue they seemed to be by default. "Well, I had a Follossus break out today." she explained, "Darus was not in the monster dorms and somebody said they had seen him outside so...I am looking for him."

"Oh, you're looking for something? For a mini? Can I help?" Chaya's tail sped up at the idea of searching for and tracking something. This was something she liked very much, and it came with the bonus of helping her friend. "Where did they see him, did they say?"

Sura nodded slowly. "I would like the help. I am not very good at finding things that do not want to be found easily." Like Umbrae and Pragma who didn't even try to run away when she'd found them. "All I have found was 'outside', which is not a lot for me to work with when a little Follossus could have gone anywhere since they had their break out."
