 Dex, grin wide as physically possible and arms open beside him just as wide, took in the sounds of Route 5. The first step in his long-awaited Pokemon adventure. "Wait, is it still long-awaited if I never expected it to happen?" He asks his Tymano Vunduva, who was hovering over his shoulder, curiously but gleefully because who cares it was actually happening! Vun just made a worried sound while the Whismur named Octave at his feet chattered impatiently and hopped on ahead of them as if to say 'lets just get going!'. 'Weren't Whismur supposed to be timid' Dex thought with amusement as he jogged to catch up, Vun chirping in surprise at the sudden movement. All of them stopped as a small cry of distress came from behind as their newest member ran to catch up with them, an Elekid named Electra. Octave chattered angrily at the newbie, who just looked confused, then marched at a proper pace ahead of its trainer. Vunduva looked put-upon and began chirping, looking as if he was explaining something. Dex just smiled fondly. He knew what they were doing, telling the newbie that it can't cry out and always expect their trainer to hear, though Vun was probably explaining the headphones that allowed him to hear as well. Vunduva had been his 'ears' since Dex was 5, and caught on more easily when Dex could hear and when he couldn't than Oct, who had only been around since he was 11. Just in case though the minnow Pokemon stayed on it's trainers shoulder to watch his back so if anything was approaching from behind it could tell Octave who would then alert Dex. It was an old routine of theirs, something Electra was struggling to get used to, and Dex didn't see much point to it anymore since his hearing was fine with his headphones on. Old habits die hard, or maybe his Pokemon were just overprotective. But either way, Dex was just glad to have them on this adventure. This was a new beginning for all of them.

Walking around the Pluto Region, with no new trainers coming to take his challenge as of yet. Jason decided to go out and do some sight seeing. Perhaps a run down memory lane for him no less yes? Krow, his special pokemon partner, shouted as he remembered the older days. "I know Krow. I remember these days. It's been a while." He began walking as he past a kid who seemed to conversing with his pokemon. "Hello, excuse me. Passing through."

Vunduva alerted Dex about someone approaching behind so the new trainer quickly turned around eye's alight and excited at the idea of his first battle. But instead of a declaration of challenge, his jaw just fell open in shock because casually walking past him was the leader of Coresport Gym, Jason Fulder the Dark-Type Trainer. How did Dex know this (other than being a complete Pokemon fanboy)? Because he was born and raised in Coresport City! Of course he recognized Gym Leader Jason! 'Man how lucky am I?! I ran into a gym leader on my first route! Saves time challenging him later!' Dex thought with a wide grin, but it faltered when he spotted the Honchkrow. It looked strong, and it was evolved, right? While Dex didn't mind the occasional risk, doing the same to his Pokemon was unfair. So instead Dex just yelled out "Heeeey, wait up!" and ran to catch up with the older man, his Pokemon running along side him. Dex got ahead on the gym leader then turned around to face him, hands on his hips and the usual wide grin on his face. "Hiya Mr. Gym Leader, the names Dex!" At this point the teenager pointed a finger at the adult. "And you better bet that when I get home and we battle you'll be wowed by Pokemon's attacks and we-" All the Pokemon saw was their trainer point a finger at someone, say the word 'battle', then say the word 'attack'. They got that much at least. In a unified cry of war, the Tynamo, Whismer, and Elekid all sprang at the gym leader. Without much success. Vunduva just repeatedly bounced on top of the mans head. Octave merely ran up the man's leg, then bounced off it and rolled away with a cry of despair. Then it got up to do it again. Electra had a bit more success by running to the gym leaders other leg and throwing its arms around in circles at the limb. It was probably more annoying than painful. "G-guys, no, stop! You can't attack humans!" Dex yelled out in panic fumbling with their PokeBall's.

Passing the kid, he didn't really pay that much attention to him at first. It wasn't exactly until the kid ran up before him and introduced himself. He looked on with a straight face as Dex assured his victory about his gym battle that he was leading on with...well, that is before his pokemon pretty much launched themselves at Jason himself.
He raised his eyebrow as all the pokemon launched a failed assault on him at once. Jason's Honckrow lifted into the air and swoop down to use some air to create distance between both the pokemon. It wasn't out of anger or anything, it was actually kind of amusing though Honchkrow simply wasn't going to just let Jason get attacked, no matter how "unintentional" it was. Jason lifted his hand for Krow to stop which had Krow go back to resting on his shoulder. "It seems your pokemon have a lot of 'spunk' I can say that much." Folding his arms, he looked straight to Dex who was searching for his poke balls. "Dex was it? Seems to me you must be just starting on your journey am I correct?" Jason asked with some curiosity in his tone of voice.

All of his Pokemon tumbled to the ground with resounding sequels. Vunduva and Octave got up right away for another go while Electra looked unhappy and ran back to Dex to hug his leg. Seeing the obvious conclusion Dex recalled Vun and Oct back into their Pokeballs with a fond sigh. They obviously needed more training, that that included the human of the party as well. A bit mollified now, Dex turned by to the gym leader and his Pokemon, hand rubbing the back of his head and a sheepish smile on his face. "Uh, ya spunk is a good way to put it. Really sorry about that, haha." Dex finishes with a nervous laugh. Dex looked down at his Elekid to notice she was given the Honchkrow a look that was both awed and terrified. The trainer perked up at the gym leaders question. "Yup, just started today actually! I've seen one of your gym battles with my trainer school, and it was super cool!" Something brilliant occurred to him. "Hey, could you give me some special gym leader pointers? I think it's pretty obvious I need them." Another nervous laugh ended the sentence but the enthusiasm didn't leave Dex's eyes as he gazed pleadingly at Jason.

Dex started off with an apology which surely wasn't needed. His pokemon were ready to fight alongside their trainer like any other pokemon should. The trainer boosted up his attitude in response to his question mentioning the start of his journey and also mentioned about one of Jason's gym fights at his school. "Much appreciated Dex. I guess I just do what I can." He turned away to glance at the forest until he looked back towards Dex who asked him another question.
Being asked for 'gym leader pointers.' Jason thought about it for a minute debating if he should actually give one or not. Though why not? He has a whole journey ahead of him here and he'll learn a lot. Something important would help him. "Actually there is something I can tell you. In our region, our gym leaders including myself will teach you an important and/or critical thing when pokemon battling. Each of us teaches something different. It is there where we Leaders truly see if the trainer has shown its worth in succeeding our trials. Just keep that in mind."

Dex listened to Jason with rapt attention, nodding seriously at the end of each sentence. That made sense and was pretty cool, though the lack of specific advice disappointed him. "Gotcha, teaching, trails, success, sounds great!" He said with a determined nod, exciting himself again for the journey ahead. Then a question popped into his mind. "Hey, how do you become a gym leader in the first place? Is there some sort of test or something?" Dex asked because he never found out how in trainer school or the books that he read. And being a gym leader was one of his possible goals so finding out how others became on would be helpful. Plus he wanted Jason to stick around, which hopefully he would do if Dex kept peppering him with questions. At his feet, Electra seemed to have regained a bit of her courage, shyly walking up to the gym leader and his Pokemon. She looked up to the Honchkrow, flinched a little when eye contact was made but held on, and seemed to squeak out a question. By the way the Elekid was holding out her arms like she was showing off her muscles, she was probably asking it how it became so strong. Or at least that's what Dex's body reading skills got.

"Sure hope so, though you'll truly understand what I mean when you start becoming a bit more experienced when you start gym battling." He responded before taking a few steps ahead before being asked another question about becoming a gym leader. He didn't turn around to answer. "How? There's an exam that you'll take, that is only if you're invited to take directly by the Pokemon Association. Have to prove your intelligence both on and off the battlefield/" Thinking back on the various steps he had to take. Letting out a sigh at the tribulations he had to take. "Crazy thing is, just because you're invited to take part, doesn't mean you're going to be at the end."
Honchkrow took sight of Electra who basically was flexing to him. At first it seem like she was show boating but he was actually entertained enough to respond about how he got strong. Krow simply lifted its feathers pointing at his trainer. Sighting, it was the experiences together. His love or pokemon, his morals and drive to become better for both us and himself. His charisma, his joy, his tears...they became the team's motivation to become strong with him.

Dex just grinned and nodded to himself when Jason gave his advice. Already he felt excited for those gym battles. He was a little disappointed when Jason began to leave and another question was on the tip of his tongue just as the gym leader answered his pervious one. 'So you have to be invited huh... I wonder how they pick who get's to be gym leader... They are pretty important people after all.' Dex thought to himself, too distracted to notice that Jason was getting farther and farther away. By the time he noticed the dark-type trainer was already too far away for Dex to bother running after. Though not too far away for yelling. "Heeeeeeey old man! Thanks for the advice! Better remember me cause I'm gonna beat you one day!!" He yelled at the older man's back and waved. Then he turned away and became to prowl for wild Pokemon. Electra was thinking about the Honchkrow's parting words. Could humans really make Pokemon stronger...? If so she was glad she was caught by one, even if he was a bit over enthusiastic. The Elekid also yelled out a goodbye and a hand/arm wave with her trainer, then followed him into the tall grass. They had training to do.

Krow flew back to Jason's shoulder after talking to Electra as he took notice that Jason was walking away. Overhearing being called an old man made him snort a bit. But he kept silent. Pretty much confirms that Jason will have a challenge coming his way. He shifted his body ever so slightly, sending a competitive glare to the boy's eyes. He grew a slight smirk. "Then you best become strong Dex. It'll be a shame for you not even land a hit on me and my pokemon. The next time I see you, I should see you having possession on 4 gym badges. I warn you, the leaders before me are no pushovers." He said, walking off with his hand raised giving his goodbye. "I look forward to our battle."
Leaving the forest, he headed on out about his business, heading off to who knows where.

 Professor Stephen Magnus A small black blur darted from the tree line, moving in between Dex's legs. At a quick glance you wouldn't be able to tell what it is, but at a longer glance you could tell that the blur was a Sneasel. There was nothing wrong with the Sneasel, besides the fact it was holding a mechanical hand. Not as fast but a few seconds later a person ran out from the tree line. "SNEAK COME BACK! I STILL NEED THAT!" The man was wearing jeans, boots, a blue t-shirt, and a lab coat. It was an odd combo for someone else, but for Stephen it was his uniform that he so often wore. The little Sneasel looked up at Dex, giving a wink, and tossing the hand to Dex before returning to her partner. " You little trouble maker..." Stephen breathing heavily as he slowed down. He was tired, his legs felt like they were on fire. Stand up he held out the stump of where the hand went. "May I please have my hand? And also have you seen a Mr. Dexter Caprius around? He's a new trainer and his parents wanted me to find him first." Looking at the Elekid, Stephen knelt down. His gaze was a little like peering into the soul, which after a short minute he nodded. Standing back up to hold out his normal towards the young man. "Please can I have it back. Sneak is... well she's a prankster. OH! So rude of me. I'm Professor Magnus. This is my Sneasel Sneak, and what you caught is my hand. And you can give me hand with it."
