xoxoBorn into two worlds, two lifestyles which clashed in values and prestige welcomed the first son to the Locksley family. On a snowy winter's night Ashton came as the eldest heir to a rancher and a business woman. A father who loved owning / running a ranch while his mother kept more with the luxurious city living. It wasn't uncommon to find both parents dwelling in separate lives for most of the year. During the holidays they spent time together yet still felt distant. Things became more complicated when two more children (Ash's younger sister and brother) were added to the bloodline. For the first 8 years of his life, Ash stayed with his mother most of the time to get a good education. He learned at a young age that such city surroundings wasn't where his heart truly belonged. So when he didn't have to be in school (and kept missing more days) he'd be sent to stay on the ranch with his father. This was his calling. Jessica (his younger sister) chose to remain in the city lifestyle while Ricky (his baby brother) never seemed to leave their father's side. Ash was the 'protective' big brother and would keep in touch regularly to make sure his siblings were alright. Somehow it kept him grounded to watch over Jessica and Ricky as they grew up. Phone calls, letters, and cards weren't uncommon between the three Locksley heirs. But as the oldest he soon came to realize that their mother had been trying to groom him first in hopes of returning to her lifestyle and take over the family business - permanently. For the sake of his siblings he didn't want to start any family squabbles, yet failed to continue keeping his grades up in school. Failing his studies this brown haired boy turned on the only friends he had (which weren't many) and tossed aside past friendships.
xoxoInto his teenage years, Ash dropped out of school to help his father as a ranch hand. His expertise with animals grew to a vast variety of domestic and exotic breeds. In Ricky's eyes he was the brother and mentor to idolize. And when Jessica came to visit the three of them would be off in their own little world - just like old times. Trail-riding, farm chores, and running around like playful puppies they were so carefree. But then everything changed one night when his parents met in the old farm house. Shouts and arguing could be heard from the nearby stables. Ash walked in on them arguing over who should groom him for future success - return to the city or stay to inherit the ranchland. Caught off guard it felt like his entire life shattered before his eyes. Needless to say he rebelled against the parent's wishes, taking his prized mare to run away from home that very night. All that was left behind were farewell notes for Jessica and Ricky saying how much he loved them and that he'd return one day soon. With only a canteen of water and a sleeping bag Ash disappeared into the shadows. Riding onward for days on end, traveling from one town to another, a tough crowd of outcasts soon found him wandering alone. This group of riders were experts on stealing herds of cattle and sheep from surrounding farms as well as getting into trouble with the law. They took him into their care and taught him the ways of being a livestock rustler. Including how to get into the party scene, meet people (especially girls), and live on the trails. He even changed his name to 'Buck' to keep his real identity concealed.
xoxoFor years this ragtag cowboy tagged along with the other rustlers and got caught up in their schemes. Even romantically mingling with two female rustlers within the group (one being his future fiancé - the beautiful Hayley Lockheart Cloverfield). Not doing one's share of the work meant no evening supper or extra water canteen. And with the law constantly on their trail he grew paranoid of those in authority. However Ash didn't resort to hurting the livestock during each heist. When the work for the day was done he and Hayley would try to meet in secret, hopeing that the other rustlers wouldn't find out about their blooming relationship. She was his first sincere love and he'd do anything in this world to keep her. Soon that protective nature / loyalty to Hayley became evident through his actions. Anyone that dared to get near her would be met with a threatening growl and punch in the guts. Things began to get tense so this young soon-to-be couple decided to ditch the rustlers, settle down, and start their own family. Somehow their secret was found out and she 'disappeared' in the middle of the night. Still a mystery to this day Ash hadn't discovered what really happened. Just after her disappearance he was given her shirt which seemed to be covered in tares and crimson stains... The exact same shirt she'd been wearing when they lasted seen each other. With the story that Hayley was now out of his life forever it felt like someone ripped out a piece of his heart. He became a lost soul looking for something to fill that emptiness. Trusting in the other rustlers this ragtag cowboy made no more attempts to try and leave their group. Party after party, heist after heist, one-night stands with girls (and guys) meant nothing.
xoxoFinally Ash confronted the lead rustler and stood up against the cruelty they were inflicting on the animals. Unknownly he was being set up to take the rap for their next client. Things had gone from bad to worse that following evening. Led into an abandoned barn he suddenly found himself locked inside. Rushing to the doors he pounding with his fists and tried calling for help. Then from out of the shadows came another ranch hand who the rustlers stole from in the past. Confronting Ash the two got into an aggressive fight, wrestling around and exchanging physical blows. During the scuffle they knocked over a lit oil lamp into a pile of hay and old firecrackers. Instantly the barn was ablaze and came crashing down within the dancing embers. In the end this cowboy was blinded in his left eye and abandoned by his so-called 'friends'. Like a runaway criminal he turned to a life of solitude. Trusting only his animal companions Ash wandered from place to place as a nomad thief. Each day he grew distant of other people and was constantly watching his back. Paranoia of being caught by the law kept him on the move day and night with little time to rest. Secretive about the past he doesn't dare tell anyone who asks and isn't going to tell a soul of his days as a rustler. Not yet anyway. By sheer luck he's stumbled upon this island where it might be possible to start a new life - a new beginning like he and Hayley dreamed of.
xoxoThis cowboy doesn't even try to smile or let lose once in a while. His 'tough guy' act has taken over to the point where aggression, assertiveness, quick temper, and stern / serious are as natural as breathing. Only the special someone lucky enough to steal his heart will find out the troubled side that's kept Ash locked up inside. Under that rough exterior is a gentle, soft spot for animals and maybe a future love-to-be.
