Al skipped down the dorm hall and started calling, "JAAAAAN, ooohhhh Jaaa-aaaaannnn~" He wasn't entirely sure which room was his. All he knew was that he was in a mood and needed the fellow for a... project. Yes. That's right, a project. That's all.

Lawr had been trying to sleep with his head under his pillow. It was of course, a futile endeavour when the offensive sound in question was inside one's own head. Butch was asleep, or close to asleep, snoring with a sound like someone sawing a pig in half.
He sat up, looking ruffled as he heard someone outside calling one of his many names, and squinted resentfully at the door. Getting up he cracked it open just a fraction and called out.
"Up here. Give me a second!" and closed it again.
He had been trying to sleep dressed in normal standard issue clothing and the idea of going out looking like that, like just a very unremarkable, strained looking tall and thin man was unthinkable. He'd be going out as himself.
Instead he got changed with the kind of haste bourne of a life spent conning others, into his psychic getup, throwing on his extra chains, the bangles, the sarong and sandals, the entire thing, and raked his hands through his blonde hair to ensure it looked suitably eccentric.
Mercifully the dog stayed quiet.
Finally the door swung open and he stepped out into the hallway. "I sensed you would come." he said to Al.

At the voice returning his call, Al immediately spun on his foot and hurried off in the direction he believed it came from. He lingered in the general vicinity before perking back up at the jangle of the doorknob.
He turned to greet Lawr with a warm smile, "Hey man, where ya been? Haven't seen you in awhile. You look like s**t! Let's go?" It was a lot to take in all at once and all at the same time and all at ******** at night.

The time at least didn't matter to Lawrence, he spent most of his time every day trying to make up for the lack of sleep he got at night time. He wasn't even sure what time it was, and made genuine effort to look as if he wasn't phased at all. "Hello to you too." he said with a pleasant and airy smile. "I've been musing upon the psychic resonances of this island and speaking with the creatures that threaten us. A lot of hard work, it would wear out any man, especially with you know who in my head making a constant racket."
He followed patiently. "Where are we going?"

Al offered Lawr a bright, not-at-all sleep deprived smile before reaching to try and take his hand. "Nuru was being noisy too. Kept making small wuf wuf noises." He proceeded to lead Lawr down the hall with or without his hand. Unaware Nuru's baby wuf wufs had nothing on what Lawr dealt with every single night.
"It's a surprise!"

Al got a slightly more brittle smile at his comment that Nuru had been noisy too. Butch had spent an hour straight screaming the other night for no discernible reason. He didn't bother volunteering this fact at all, nor did he resist his hand being taken, simply letting himself be dragged along with a jingle of bangles.
"I say, its difficult to surprise a psychic my boy."

"Then I dare you to predict it," Al had a certain spark in his eyes. It was certainly something he enjoyed whatever it was.
They exited the dorms into the night air. It was dark and the breeze offered a soft distant moan of greeting. They did not linger for long before the harsh bright light of iridescents greeted them again.
This time it was the cafeteria. It was quiet inside with perhaps a handful of other patrons scattered throughout looking exhausted and distant. Some seemed like they were at the end of their ropes for some unknown reason or another. Al led Lawr over to the bar, once full of delicious baked goods, mystery meats, and produce... now contained MRE's stacked on top of each other. There was some sort of thick tarry substance being touted as coffee and a few juice boxes on display.
Al seemed indecisive about which to choose. He was sure this coffee was nothing like what Jordan gave him, and yet....

"I don't predict things simply because I'm asked to you know, that would be abusing my spiritual powers." he shook his head. "You can't just ask them there spirits to give away all their secrets." He genuinely had no idea where they were going, but there was no point in resistance, it really wasn't like his room was much better.
Finding himself in the cafeteria his bright grin flickered into brief concern concern. There were a lot of people around, distracted or not and crowds were always something to be leery of. Everyone in a crowd had an opinion, not everyone in a crowd was a sucker.
He didn't eat much, it was the way he'd always been, hunger just wasn't a priority for him and since coming to the island it was even less so than before, his cravings tended to bleed into those of the mad creature in his head. Raw meat sounded good when it had never before, he'd told people he was vegan for his line of work and tolerated no end of salads, he'd still eaten meat but never raw. It turned his stomach.
Coffee also was a slippery slope, he didn't want to have to be awake any longer than he had to be.
"That all looks pretty foul." he offered helpfully. "I tried to eat one of those MRE things few days ago but it was just the most awful thing I ever did taste."

"Really?" Al looked over his shoulder at Lawr. He looked absolutely shocked by this knowledge. "I like them a lot," he reached for a box of apple juice. "We're not here for them anyway! I just wanted... um... this!" Al held the box up for Lawr to inspect. "And I have um... a secret... um." He looked around Lawr suspiciously. "This isn't our final stop."
He stashed the juice box in his pocket and then grabbed another and did the same, "Don't want anything?"

"I assumed that was the case." he said with that unwavering warm smile. "Would be a short journey if the cafeteria was the surprise! It's not very surprising all considered."
He shook his head. "I'll pass for the time being, I've not been very hungry lately." He'd been drinking nothing but water, fearful there was something awful about anything else that they offered up to the prisoners of this island.
"Lead the way?"

Al nodded eagerly and gave the room - that could care less - one last paranoid look before ducking right back out into the night air. This time he was packing juice at least. They stayed in the quiet darkness this time. Al followed a path barely lit by the moon and stars.
It led outside of the protective walls of Deus.

Lawr wasn't pleased to be out in the dark.
"Erm. You know, the last time we were out in the dark we got attacked by an enormous titan right?" he jingled along behind Al with a great deal less positivity than he had before, the only light he could see the eye shaped glowing clock face of his watch - the totem for his weapon. He hadn't been able to find the clasp to take it off.
"The vibes about this trip aren't great."

Al kept going despite his protests, kept leading along the wall, not towards the beach though but towards a clearing just before the jungle. He took pause. The vibes were not good? Al turned to look at Lawr and frown. "You don't feel good about this? Cause it's like... right... ..," he limply pointed.
"We could go back?"

He couldn't help but let his smile slide into a grim and haunted sort of look which made him grateful for the dim light. "No, it's fine! Lets keep going" He'd already run into monster outbreaks, island wide nukes, titanic monsters and a ghost that lived in his head, what was really the worst thing that could happen?
"I am keen to see what you have to show me."

Al trembled with giddy delight before shifting nervously to take the man's hand again. He didn't want him to get lost so he gave the hand a little extra squeeze this time.
Reaching the clearing, Al finally released Lawr to wander to the edge of where the thicker brush began. Al pushed and pulled several large rocks out of his way. The action revealed a small hole full of a cache of various goods. He fished in his pockets to retrieve his juice boxes and sat them by the opening. He reached inside to retrieve a small bag of Monster Munch from the collection. It wasn't much but it was the world to him right now. "Want one?" He offered after popping the bag open.
