Before doesn't remember how long ago it was since he sparred against Candace for the very first time. He just knows that there was a very good reason he never sought her out for another match. He'd hide behind the label of trauma but it was more of a personal terror of her weapon.
Still, they were pitted against each other. And because he didn't want to forfeit (at least not this early), he showed up at the mud pits. And was relieved there were no crumbling, derelict buildings that would topple down on their heads without warning. Of course, with heavy-class weaponry, moving through the mud was going to be a challenge but it was a downside he could live with.
"Well, uh, no matter who wins, at least it'll be Mist Division?" he smiled, waiting for the start of the match. When the go signal was given, he was running towards Candace, summoning and swinging Vanna at the last moment.
HP: 60/60

Candace stared unhappily at the mud pit. Rain was fine, in fact she found it to be a relief after so long without running water, but a mud pit...she wasn't prepared for that. She needed gloves, goggles, and a mask to keep mud from getting in her mouth and nose. Candace had none of these. "I hate you, Bix," she grumbled under her breath before summoning Atropos. This would most certainly be an...interesting match. Candace had never been Before's biggest fan, and she had kind of been rooting for Jordan since she was comfortable with him and knew his fighting style. Before, however... "True enough," Candace agreed with a little shrug. She hadn't been anticipating the hit she received to feel like being hit by a ******** truck. Candace grunted and skid back in the mud before trying to use his own weapon against him. Candace grabbed it and tried to throw it to one side, not to rip it from Before's hands but to jerk him close enough to deliver a knee to his gut. "Good opener!" Candace laughed, somewhat breathless from being hit so hard. Hp: 50/60 because what the hell, before Damage done: 7

Before attributed his strike's success more to Vanna's reach indirectly caused by her size than his own skill. Of course, this also meant she was well within Candace's reach so it wasn't all too surprising that he found his opponent grabbing onto her.
He wondered, briefly, what she was trying to do, and learned the hard way when he was jerked towards her and knee met solar plexus. Before was only glad she didn't hit him in the liver because he was pretty sure the blow was strong enough to have him throw up. He let out a strangled whine and stumbled back, not getting very far thanks to the mud clinging to his feet.
"N-nice hit." It was weak gasp despite the grin on his face.
With the rule of No Charge attacks and this manner of terrain in mind, he dismissed Vanna while one hand clutched at his gut. Okay that last bit was out of a physical reaction than any strategy. His other arm was raised in the air as he resummoned the wheel overhead. Once he gripped her handle, Before let Vanna's weight and gravity do the rest as he brought the wheel down on Candace.
HP: 53/60 Candace hits hard too, y'know! 8C

Candace grinned. "I try. You okay?"Her answer came in the form of his weapon slamming against her. Candace grunted and skid back again, gritting her teeth. Seriously. What the ********. Where did this come from? I don't lose.But the mud decided otherwise. In her attempt to strike at him it made her slip and stick in a way that had her stumbling and nearly falling on her a**. Son of a b***h. Hp: 39/60 Damage done: 7...again...

The light drizzle of rain in and of itself wasn't particularly annoying but in an open, muddy area? It was gradually becoming a hazard, such as making the less muddy areas just as muddy, and the already muddy patches even worse. Seeing Candace nearly slip, Before tried to... not quite take advantage of her situation. More like, he extended Vanna for her to get a grip on, but in the process he got off-balanced thanks to the clinging effect of the ground.
Needless to say, he smacked right into the kick.
HP: 46/60
Damage: 7 looks like it's Candace's turnabout comeback XD

Jordan stayed well clear of the mud pit. He'd been interested to see how this fight would play out; it was a fight between two of his friends, so he wasn't rooting for either player. But it was always interesting to watch their fighting styles.

This kid was a fumbling idiot and yet his accidental hits hurt harder than her own. This wasn't right. Candace frowned, wiping mud off her hands onto her top and going in for it again. This time she kept herself stable with one foot on the ground to kick Vanna out of the way, turning on her heel to jab at Before with her elbow. Hp: 25/60 Damage done: 5

Dakota was out of breath when he finally hit Candace's battle. Most likely running from Robert because of Mimsy.
That being said, he narrowed his eyes at Before getting his girl and cupped his hands around his mouth.
"GO GET HIM BABY!!" He shouted, whooping for her. "USE THOSE LONG GORGEOUS LEGS OF YOURS."

Candace's elbow got him in the exact same spot Jordan's had, making him wonder if he had like some sort of elbow-magnet in that particular area. With a grunt, he planted Vanna spike-down into the mud for balance. He doesn't step back or angle away from Candace, instead raising a knee of his own.

This was ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Normally a kick like that didn't bother her much, but when she tried to turn her foot caught in a deeper part of the mud and she fell to the ground. She heard Dakota and gave him a strained smile. Yes, she'd love to do that. This was all Bix's fault. Stupid mud. Hp: 18 Damage done: 5

Before winced, more out of an empathic sense of embarrassment than pity when Candace's attempt at a counterattack fell short. Sure they were in the middle of a fight, and sure he and Candace weren't really friends, and sure this was probably a good opportunity as any to go to town but... It wasn't like it was life or death.
And if he was in any way bloodthirsty, this wasn't the sort of setting it would awaken. Vanna and Before expected burning skies, grave injuries, and unmitigated fury. Not rain, mud, and awkwardness. All Before could do was hope Candace wouldn't blame him for attacking a downed opponent. Even if it was just because they slipped.
He half-heartedly swung Vanna downwards, spikes aimed at her heavily-armored legs. What? The dude in the stands gave him the idea :/ plus, y'know, with Candace it was more like striking another Hunter's weapon than their actual body.

Candace had been about to jump up when she caught sight of the wheel coming her way. She rolled onto her back and raised one leg to catch the wheel on the bottom of her foot. It did make her wince slightly from the shock of metal on metal going down her entire leg, but eventually she put her other foot against the wheel and shoved Before's own weapon back at him.
No, she wasn't mad he was kicking her while she was down. It was something she often did herself.

The sound of ringing metal made the hair on Before's neck stand on end, and having Vanna shoved right back into him was painful in two ways: Face and Arms. Unfortunately, it also had him accidentally pressing a rune on the surface and caused a spike to shoot out blindly. He realized this too late to withdraw the spike without it grazing Candace's FEAR shield.

The spike came as a surprise. Candace hit it away with her forearm to protect her face before she quickly rolled onto her hands and knees and jumped to her feet.
HP: 8
Damage done: None because why would she have good dice when it counts
