There hadn't been much time to breath since he got back. Maybe that's where he had gone wrong with the competition? Home from one mission, whisked up for another, a tournament right after that... No wonder his head was spinning.
Burn-out, perhaps?
Jerry stopped his guitar playing, staring down at his palm.
He still needed to get it checked out. Maybe not by Mimsy. Rep and Jordan had assured him it would be far too much of a loss to cripple him by chopping his hand off but there was a look in that young lady's eye that worried him.
He sighed. That stupid little mark was messing with his ju-ju.

Obviously, Milo's short existence on the island wasn't as crazy hectic as some other peoples'; he had yet to really travel on any missions after all, well except that one to that weird alternate universe type deal. Was that really one though? Or the big Titan thing? He didn't really leave the island for that though. Either way. His day to day mostly dealt with cleaning and duties to maintain the island at the moment given its current predicament, so the tournament was rather welcoming. Just going on a walk was as well. It was also nice to get out in the open air, his new living arrangements had no windows...
He didn't really mean to stray close to the beach though, given what happened last time, but maybe one couldn't take the island boy away from the oceans. Or maybe it was the faint few chords he heard that attracted his attention, leading him closer to the sands and the more experienced Sun who was sitting there.
It took a bit to pull back on impulse to run the remaining distance down there - because person! - so Milo casually made his way, keeping his cool and called out with a rather relaxed sounding, "Yo!"

The Sun Hunter in question jumped at the sudden shout, looking around frantically as though expecting an attack from the opposite direction-
Wait. No, it was a greeting, not a warning-
Jerry relaxed slightly, pushing his glasses up his nose as he glanced at the approaching figure. he didn't look familiar... judging by his coat, he was a trainee? Yes.
He wished he looked more presentable, (for once), straightening his faded orange floral shirt and scratched at the stubble attempting to grow through the twisted burn scars marring a good portions of the side of his face before giving the young man a shy wave.
"Uh... hi?" he managed, dropping the hand the moment he realized what he was doing, and hopefully before the guy saw the mark.
This used to be easier. He was always excited to meet a new person- that sort of thing didn't happen every day. He was just... exhausted. "Er... surprisingly nice day?" He offered.
On the plus side, the lack of fog really did brighten the beach. He could remember they lived on a tropical island, and maybe things weren't THAT bad.

Milo stopped for a moment, taking in Jerry's initial reaction to him and raising an eyebrow at how jumpy the other guy was. Huh. It didn't last long, that frantic look faded and the other guy seemed to relax easily enough. So, the trainee (yes, in a shiny new coat) shrugged it off and pressed on forward with a smile returned.
He didn't think much of Jerry's appearance, having run into a few other sporting hobo chic, his own shirt was terribly wrinkled and hadn't been washed in a while. That orange shirt though, seemed pretty awesome. As were those scars he noticed upon getting closer, they probably had interesting stories to them. (Also, really Jerry, Milo would have no clue what that mark would mean...) "Howzit?" Milo replied with his own short curt little wave before turning his head skyward, "It is pretty nice, ya. Reminds me a little of home." Maybe not that fog so much, but bright beaches and tropical island-ness.
Was the guy tired or uneasy or shy? He couldn't really tell, but he remained upbeat. All smiles as he sat himself down next to Jerry. "'M Milo, by the way," he continued, holding a hand out to shake. The other was pointing at the guitar in his possession, "You got to bring a guitar here? That's pretty sweet, you a musician?" Well, why else would he have one?

"Oh, no, I didn't bring it-" He tapped the side of the acoustic with a musical thump, "It was a present my first Christmas here," He beamed, but his expression furrowed a little. The memory was hazy as he tried to recall... right... RIGHT Candace gave it to him! That was super nice of her. "Do you play? I am- er... well, I was going to be a music teacher before I ah... had a career change, ahahaha... you?" He looked younger, but he might have at least studied something.

His eyes lit up at the mention of Christmas, it didn't help that he had shifted his legs into the butterfly position with his hands on his feet, making him look like an excited child. Milo hadn't considered they'd get like, a Christmas here (did they get Halloween too?) - though, he didn't get much time to give these things some thought. "Christmas? Dude, does it like snow here too? I've never seen falling snow." Only one mountain on the Big Island got snow, it wasn't even that far from the city he lived in but it was a b***h to get to.
But wait, presents meant... "So, wait.. where would someone even have found a guitar though here?" He knew they got paid for this line of work, but it wasn't like he had seen any stores or anything. "Oh wait, with leave and stuff? Like, actually leaving? And you can bring stuff back?" Did this mean he could get some actual running shoes somewhere? (Or, you know... tokusatsu.. toys...) The prospect of such a thing was very nice. Very nice indeed.
"Aa, music?" His head shook, "Nah, my sister got all the musical talent, well dancing," Milo went on, his hands leaving his feet for a moment to mimic a few movements of the hula, "If that counts." His hands went up and out, symbolizing a rainbow, "I wanted to be a cop." And then his hands pulled together and his head tilted forward, "but it was not meant to be, I guess."
"But a music teacher," the brunette's head pulled up again, along with his mood, "that's quite a difference, ya." It almost seemed like polar opposites, what possessed this guy to go into this line of work?

"W-well, I wasn't a terribly good teacher anyway, ahahahaha," The bespectacled man flushed behind his scars as he nervously picked at a few chords. "Yeah, with leave. When things aren't so..." He stopped playing to make a gesture generally across the island, "Crazy... and portals are working, we're able to go anywhere we want- although it's advised against our home towns... Aaah, I do miss Philly," He sighed. "Where are you from? Oh! Name's Jerry," He smiled, offering a hand- well, at least this newbie seemed a lot friendlier than some of the others that had popped up recently. It was refreshing.

Milo didn't really have a lot to go on for this opinion, having just met the guy like two minutes ago, but he still voiced it. "Nah, I'm sure you were fine," his hand waved in the air, passing the comment off, "the only bad teachers are like the ones who don't teach and waste their student's time and stuff." He had had a few of those, it taught him the fine lesson of when not to bother and finer points of how to ditch school. "Get to do something pretty cool here now though, at least." From what he had understood.
He was talking out of his a** a little at that point and thankfully the conversation steered back into something a little more intriguing. Milo posture had once again leaned in a little with interest at the idea of leave and portals; something he should have maybe learned about earlier but hadn't - but they were down, so no real point in trying to get information on something broke. The brunette let out a lengthy hum, rocking back a little as he processed the information, "no hometowns, makes sense. Don't want people realizing you're not so gone and stuff." Though, there fun could be had with that train or thought (not to mention attempts at getting old cherished items), superiors probably wouldn't think it amusing though. He settled himself flat on the ground again, noticing Jerry's extended hand and offered his hand to complete the gesture (must not try Fourze friendship handshake, resist Milo!).
"I'm Milo, nice to meet ya," he grinned, "originally from Hilo. Hawaii." Adding the state in just for good measure, Hilo wasn't always as memorable a name as some parts of the islands or even as recognizable as a place like Philadelphia.

His name was Milo. He was from Hawaii. Jerry's hand on Milo's suddenly clamped down harder than was necessary for a friendly handshake. "Do you know anything about fixing ukuleles??"

For a second there, Milo thought Jerry was going to go into his own little friendship handshake with how much harder he was squeezing it. Maybe there was a Deus one he needed to learn. But there was a twinkle in the other guy's eye he noticed when he looked up from his trapped hand. And then he was asked a question. Logically, if he thought about it, perhaps a childhood memory of playing with a ukulele would have come up first (like the time when he was five and his older sister demands he and his brother be her band as she danced. And in a tantrum that only a five year old could do, he slammed the uke to the ground and broke it, because he didn't wanna play the stupid uke... he wanted the drum!). No. What came to mind was Kamen Rider Kiva and how Wataru made and repaired violins for a living. Well, going from that, then in theory maybe he kind of did. They were constructed in the same manner right? (No, they weren't actually). With his uncertainty, he decided not to mention his limited knowledge learned from a children's television program."Nah, not really..." he chuckled a little sheepishly, "Wouldn't it kind of be like fixin' a guitar?" Milo asked, using his free hand to point at the instrument Jerry had on his lap. Didn't he know how to fix that one? Ukulele were just.. smaller guitars...?

Jerry sagged a bit with disappointment, but not too much as his smile remained, "Ah, well, thankfully not QUITE as tricky as that. I'm mostly concerned about the intonation, you know? Er- sorry, ahaha, I'm a bit of a nerd in the music respect. Do you play anything? Sing?"

No... Milo didn't really know exact what that meant, but the first part he understood - wasn't as tricky, okay - so he nodded to that part at least. "We're all nerds about something," he shrugged, while also reclaiming his hand. "Don't really play anything," Hadn't they gone over this? Oh well, "sometimes I can look like I know what I'm doin' though." Sometimes, very sometimes.

Jerry blinked, pushing his glasses up his nose, "Oh! I already asked that, didn't I? Ahahaha sorry, my mind's just been..." As he lowered his hand from his face, he glanced at his palm before lowering it to his instrument again. "A bit scattered. If you did want to learn any- I offer guitar and ukulele lessons! Although er... my spare instruments are now pretty busted... I have a keyboard too, but until they get the power back, it's er... a low priority tech," He looked deflated.

"Nah, its fine," Milo pretty much laughed it off when Jerry came to realize, waving a hand like it was nothing; since it really wasn't. Got to add in an amusing line in anyways (at least he thought it was). He didn't mention anything about the whole scattered brained thing, just made a sort of humming noise to acknowledge; he had kind of gotten that impression with how jumpy the guy was. And just the general chaos of events with the island.
"Dude, learning to play seems like it could be pretty cool, though it was hard to tell if he was generally interested or just saying so to be nice. But, new lead in life meant the opportunity to learn new things, right? Or at least the proper way to play things. Maybe Milo would actually possibly consider this venture. (Now he was just imagining like something from one of those old movies where the guy was on the beach playing a guitar surrounded by pretty girls). "Keyboard seems to have its limitations, ya?" Judging from Jerry's defeated look, and his previous little thought bubble.

"No no no! My friend got it for me, and runic-converted too! But I suppose it would be harder to procure. It has all sorts of settings- even a little drum machine! Although it's no where near as acceptable as a proper drummer, but Otto is..." he gave a pained pause, "Difficult to wrangle for band meetings." But someone actually accepting his offer for lessons?? "I used to charge a few bucks per lesson, but I suppose I could take anything in trade, really," He gave an eager grin, striking an excited chord. "Now, it might be hard to find someone here who could put together a guitar, you know, I bet there are enough odds and ends around the island that could be pieced together into a Uke..." He tapped his chin in thought.
