Sade was sitting in the car with her father as he drove her back to Saint Mags for her senior year. Which really should’ve occurred the last school year. There was a heavy sigh as she rode in the car, it was raining and she was watching the beads on the widow move across slowly on her passanger side door.

“You know sweetie this was done because we have your education in our best interest.” Her father said the moment he heard Sade sigh, “I mean comeon Sade, you were the one that got in trouble. We were worried about your grades and how that would affect them.”

“I’m sure Crystal girls could get away with murder.” Sade muttered as she looked out the window gloomily, neon green eye shadow reflecting back at her in the widow. “You didn’t have to make me change schools and hold me back a grade I was still doing fine.” She whined a little as she said this. It’s not like she was going to school, high.

“I didn’t even do anything, You know I like to spin the vinyl. It was a few extra bucks towards that new DJ equipment I wanted.” Sade continued.

“You were dragged home by the police who said you were caught during a raid. How do you think that made us feel?” Her father scolded a bit, they’d been over this a thousand times and he was getting irritated.

“It’s not like I got thrown in Juivie! God dad the school didn’t even expell me, it’s not like they cared.”

“They didn’t have to deal with you getting dragged home twice by the damn cops.”

Sade just sighed harder and rolled her eyes again, “My grades were still good. I haven’t ever touched drugs unless you count Soda, and I never missed class.” She added again to reconfirm that she was being unjustly punished for something so simple.

“You’re teachers were concerned too.”

“Hey Mits, there’s going to be a rave across town, I heard they need a wicked DJ.”

“Frost Shock is already there dudes, didn’t you see my fhobook this morning?” There was a wink as the seventeen year old walked towards her class. Sassaying in her outfit that was boarderline school apporiate, and sitting down fur fluffs on her feet swaying with the motion as she crossed her legs. Mits was always in the back of the classroom in a corner, closest to the wall. She didn’t care to be front and center and her outfit often was considered a distraction by the teacher.

“Sade. How many times have I told you not to come in looking like a Neon Sign?” Mr Applebottom grumbled as he was passing back papers.

“Only a hundred and one sir, but I don’t see what it matters we don’t have uniforms and it’s only on Fridays.” She gave a small pout as if she was an innoccent angel in all of this. History was probably her least favorite subject as Mr. Applebottom was always so monotone but as she took back at her paper and looked at the grade she grinned, another C+. It was better than failing at least.

“You should study more instead of coming in like that, maybe you’d make a better grade.”

“I’d make a better grade if they’d make the material as fun as my outfit.” Sade grumbled as Mr. Applebottom finished speaking to her and moved on to the next student. It wasn’t like things were fun in history class, unless they were watching something that had even a remote beat to it Sade was almost always doing something else.

When School let out Sade was walking with a bunch of her friends laughing. “Hey any of you going to the party tonight? I’m Djing.”

“No way Mits, that’s one of those parties that gets busted too often. I’m going to go home and play video games.”

“Yeah I’ve got homework, I was hoping there might be something fun to do tomorrow night.”

“Sorry Mits, I’ve got work.”

Sade sighed and shrugged, “Fine but you guys are missing out, next party you can’t flake got it?” Her group gave a nod, “Lets go shopping, I want to pick up some new headphones. There’s suppose to be a new, better headphone out this week that’s not suppose to let as much sound through.”

“Ahahah Mits do you ever think of anything but the latest and greatest?”

“What? I’m trying to be the best DJ, if I don’t have the latest and greatest how I am to do that?”

“You do know that there’s retro equipment that’s totally better than anything you can buy now right?”

“Oh God that’s so old skool, don’t even tell me about retro there’s no way the quality is as good as high definition digital.”

“If you say so Mits, If you say so, I just think you’re wasting your money buying new stuff all the time. How much of that do you use more than a week?”

“I can sell it on ebay when I’m done. I get near retail price for it.” Mits protested.

“Hey guys look at this flyer!”

-----
“THIS IS A GREAT PARTY!”

“WHAT!?”

“THE PARTY. ITS GREAT. I’M GLAD YOU COULD DJ FOR US FROST SHOCK.”

“I KNOW ITS GREAT. IT WOULDN’T BE ANYTHING LESS. THANKS FOR ASKING ME TO DO THIS!”

Mits changes up the song to something with a little less bass and a little more romance. “Seriously man, you’re helping me out a lot by doing this. If I keep getting paid like this I can afford some new equipment. It’ll sound even better.”

There was a smile, “Hey Shock, do you have a boyfriend?”

There was a moment where Sade paused and looked over to her manager. “I . . . Do not.” She answered hesitantly.

The man standing beside her moved in for a kiss.

Suddenly there were sirens blazing and Cops kicking in the doors as Sade pushed the man away. “That’s gross man, you’re twice as old as me. Go get your jollies else where.” Of course by the time she was finished the guy had bolted and everyone else as she grabbed her gear.

“FREEZE” Sade’s head hung when she heard the cops shout.

Hands in the air Sade sighed, “It’s not what it looks like officer.”

-----

“How old are you?”
“Seventeen. You can’t leagelly hold me. I wasn’t doing anything illegal.”
“Name.”
“Sade Mistlitan.”
“Address”
“. . . Rosenbrook Lane, Desinty City.” Sade finished looking at the cop like she couldn’t believe they weren’t just going to let her go.
“We’ve called your parents and we’re taking you home and releasing you to them. In the back of the car miss.” The cop seemed fairily cold and unamused. “I don’t think you understand just how dangerous it is that you’re parading around like that and hanging around in places like this.”

-----

The Ride home Sade was just sitting there staring at the back of the cop car. When he stopped in front of her house her jade green eyes turned towards the door where her parents stood waiting. Looking very unhappy. “Can’t you just take me to Juvie now?” Sade did not want to face her parents when they looked that mad.

“How could you!? Do you know embaressed you made me and your father!?” Her mother shreiked. “I mean the nerve. You could’ve been hurt!”

“I’m fine mom.” Sade muttered as she sat there looking at the floor sulking.

“That’s it young lady. Tomorrow you’re changing schools. Your behavior has gotten out of controll.”

“My behavior!? WHAT BEHAVIOR!? It’s not like I sit around and cut myself, I don’t start fights. I’m doing something I love. How is that out of control?”

“Don’t you dare talk to your father like that, go to your room.”

“FINE.” Sade Stormed out.

“I can’t help I can’t learn when they don’t make learning fun.” Sade muttered as they pulled into Saint Mag’s. “Oh well back to prison with me. I’ll see you for christmas break.” Sade grabbed her bags and ran into the building that had her dorm room not bothering to say anything further to her father.

Her father sighed, “I love you Sade, I just wish you’d see that.” He sat there watching her run into the building before leaving.
