Quinn couldn't believe he was suckered (pushed?) into this. Ian and Shiloh might as well have signed his name for him. They both pretty much hovered over him as he signed himself anyways. Peer pressure. Either way, while he was personally thinking 'o s**t o s**t' the entire time... his partner on the other hand, was all for it. There was a anticipation inside that was building. The choice of the battle field had not helped at all. Oki was an Akhlut, a beast of myth whom lived in and near the sea. The sand felt like his home turf. "Noooooope." Quinn called out, taking a step back from his opponent. Did he really have to do this??? Hp: 40/40 DMG: Zippo~ Skye Starrfyre Did i forget to mention Quinn has the spine of a noodle?

A grin worked its way onto Arland's lips as he summoned Tivadar, giving him an idle twirl if only to familiarize himself with the feel of the weapon. He then paused, holding a hand out to the other young man. "Don't worry. I don't bite... Unless you ask nicely, but that is neither here nor there. Arland. You can call me Land if it makes you feel a bit more comfortable." No point in taking a swing at someone unaware right off the bat... Right? Quote: Arland's HP: 40/40 Damage Dealt: 0

Even though his weapon was summoned, he did little more than lean against the giant staff as he eyed the other hunter warily. Quinn was always the thinker more than the out-right person... "...Biting isn't a super effective mean of attacking though? I mean... unless you plan to chomp your way through the fear shields..." Was that even possible? Still though He took a step back as the other approached, keeping his distance. This would ironically be a battle of ranged pole-like weapons. Once someone started to attack that is. "...Im Quinn, just Quinn." HP: 40/40 DMG: 0

His grin was easily replaced by a frown as 'Quinn, just Quinn' stepped back, the expression followed up by a sigh as he lowered his hand before straightening himself out. "I was hoping this would be a little bit more fun than just business, but... If you're going to insist." He fell back, giving Tivadar another twirl before taking a swipe of a swing with the pick's talon end. Someone had to take the first strike, after all. HP: 40/40 DMG: 4

"...I..well.. I dont mean to make this a bad experience then." Quinn actually bothered to look a little guilty, even. He couldn't help the yelp that resulted from the attack as the sharp edge of Lands weapon bounced off his fear shield. Without even realizing it, and before he could stop it, his own staff came down to bop the other slightly on the head. "....." "OOoooohhhhhh goodness i am so sorry!" hp: 36/40 DMG: 5

"... Ow." He stumbled back slightly, free hand coming up to rub at his head through his hair, the other hand guiding Tivadar back through the air to try and knock the other back. He'd deserved that conk, really, but a shot to the head? Perhaps they should have established some sort of ground rules; no above the neck, nothing that fell above the knees and above the belt... < You could dodge or defend. Fancy idea, that, do you not agree?> HP: 35/40 DMG: 4

Quinn still kept backing up away from Arland, nearly tripping over himself in the process from the tall weeds growing in the sand. Not to mention the titan fighters flying overhead were a bit....distracting. "Imsorryabouttheheadshot- Ow!" He mirrored the cry out too, as the weapon hit once more. Honestly it didn't really hurt, the fear shield absorbed most of the pain from the attack. Call it more of an automatic response. "I wont aim for there again ok?" Instead he tapped the other on the side, just the way Jordan had shown him. hp: 32 DMG: 4

The smack of the staff caught him awkwardly before he could properly block the swing, the sting of the thwap catching him off guard. He took a turn at stumbling back himself, a muttered curse parting his lips as he lost his footing in the sand. < Well done, Arland. Well done.> "I don't see you helping..." He grumbled as he attempted to push himself back up, supporting some of his weight on Tivadar only to stumble as he attempted to lunge forward at Quinn again. HP: 31/40 DMG: 2

Quinn frowned again, running away a little distance to ponder the situation. Would Ian and Shiloh be proud he was....at least trying? Even if a bunch of his hits were accidental. It also seemed that Land was frustratedly mumbling to himself. Any other case Quinn would have pondered insanity, but we all are a little insane here, are we not? The next attack glanced off him once more, but it caused his grip on Oki to loosen... as it fell in the direction of the other hunter. hp: 30 DMG: 6

That hit seemed to knock a bit of sense back into him and he reigned himself in, trying to get a bit more focus on the situation. He shifted his grip on the handle of his weapon, taking it with two hands this time before slashing at his opponent again. HP: 25 Damage: 4

Retrieving the staff was a bit interesting, and involved himself being exposed to the attacks of the other in the process. Not to mention he turned around and hit the other barely too. HP: 26 DMG: 2

Rather certain that he was finally starting to get the hang of things, Arland was able to block the next blow... Mostly, at least, leaving Quinn's strike catching the fingers holding Tivadar tightly. That stung and he drew his hand back, shaking it with a hiss before taking an awkward swing back. HP: 23 Damage: 2

Quinn grunted out, wincing. "I thought fear shields took out a lot of the pain." He winced. Still though he tapped Land back with the bottom of his staff. HP: 24 Dmg: 4
