Name: Ruby Ringadoo Nickname: N/A Age: 18 Birthday: July 18 Sign: Cancer Gemstone: Ruby Blood Type: B Fav. Food: Turkish Delight Hated Food: Coleslaw School: DCU Hobbies: Karate: Ruby has been taking karate lessons since early in her childhood when her parents decided they wanted to her to be able to defend herself. She is a 3rd dan black belt now, but she still takes lessons to keep her skills sharp. Fashion Design: Ruby likes high fashion and likes to be the one to create it. She learned how to sew in high school home economics and made it an important part of her life almost instantly, inciting her parents to buy her her first sewing machine the following Christmas. Ruby began attending DCU on a fashion design track and hopes to create designs to feature in the major fashion centers of the world. Candymaking: Ruby enjoys making sweet treats to eat! She is particularly fond of making her own marshmallows and jelly candies and tends to prefer experimenting floral flavors like rose, orange blossom, violet and elderflower. She isn't afraid to try creating other types of candies and chocolates, but doesn't consider them her forté. Virtues: Determined: Ruby rarely gives up! She's a go-getter and a self-driven young woman. She has a plan for what she wants to get out of life (which is to be a designer of high fashion) and she diligently studies to make sure she won't fall behind before she has a chance to get in the game. Intelligent: Despite pursuing a career in fashion design, Ruby is still incredibly smart and well-read. She likes to think of herself as one of the elite chic geeks. She excels in the realm of academia and has a mild passion for world history and linguistics. Fearless: Ruby is not afraid to try something new or take walks in the dark. She's learned that nothing is a failure if you can dust yourself and learn from the mistake...so long as you do the extra credit. Confident in her self-defense abilities, intelligence and creativity, there is very little that intimidates her (excepting, of course, parents and teachers). Flaws: High Strung: Ruby's parents held high expectations of her. Between karate, orchestra and high school musicals that her parents pushed her to perform well in (and then add in their demand for nothing less than perfect grades), it is amazing she had the chance to carve out enough time to discover that she loved fashion design. Nevertheless, all of these pressures have left her a very high-energy being which can have a tendency to bowl others over and leave them behind. Emotions are tossed to the side because she simply doesn't have time for them....but increased stresses will cause her to explode in a flurry of tears and rage. Snob: Ruby likes to flaunt her intelligence and family wealth and considers herself too good for some folks. She has a tendency to sprinkle her conversations with snippets from various languages (some of which she isn't as well-versed in as others, so results may be dicey) and shake her head condescendingly when the person she's talking to doesn't understand what she's talking about. In general, she tries to avoid interacting with people who look like they only shop at the cheaper stores and never eats fast food. Can't Be Wrong: Ruby refuses to accept that she is ever wrong. At best, she'll claim her source of information has mislead her. At worst, black is the absolute only color you, specifically, should ever wear and you were a fool to think you could ever pull off pink. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Eyes: Grey Hair: See picture --> Face: Heart-shaped Clothes: Ruby loves to be on the cutting-edge of fashion

Senshi: Corrupt Sailor Ywain, Senshi of Ladybugs Challenge: I am not your lady luck! Fuku Colour: Main Color: Red Secondary Color: Black Fuku: See image.Attacks: Sailor Scout Attack: Ywain Spot Trap! This places a circle of darkness (roughly three feet in diameter) on the ground in a location of Sailor Ywain's choosing no farther than 16 feet away. This location can be directly under a person or elsewhere. The circle is noticealbe in most conditions with average lighting, but is indescernible in the dark of night when no lights are around. When a person (anyone but Sailor Ywain) steps on the circle, it erupts in a burst of flying ladybugs* that trap that person in place for 25 seconds. The trapped person should be able to defend against other attacks during this time. The circle can stay on the field for up to 25 seconds, but will always disappear once triggered. Ywain may use this attack up to 3 times per battle. Super Sailor Scout Attack: Ywain Five-Spot Trap! Like the previous attack, but now there are five spots to be wary of! The five spots are triggered independently, but are always arranged in the same pattern (a square of four with the fifth spot directly in the middle - the four outer spots are always four feet away from the central one). This time, the ladybugs* will trap their victim in place for 30 seconds and each circle can stay on the field for up to 30 seconds. Sailor Ywain may use this attack twice per battle. Eternal Sailor Attack: Ywain Aphid's NemesisAfter calling out this attack, a massive swarm of ladybugs* surrounds Sailor Ywain, shaping into a giant arm** which proceeds to punch Sailor Ywain's target from above and smashing into the ground before vanishing. This attack is crushingly painful and typically causes medium to heavy bruising. (Broken bones are available only if the victim player wishes it, but should never be expected otherwise.) *The ladybugs in these attacks are magical energy constructs and not actual living insects. They just look a lot like the real thing. **This is still a swarm of ladybugs. Think of how swarms of bees take shapes of things in cartoons.

Ladybug symbolism: Luck, love, divine intervention and protection.
Ideally, I would like Sailor Ywain's story to be a corruption of what a ladybug symbolizes.

In many cultures, ladybugs have a strong connection to various deities or saintly beings. This usually manifested as a belief that ladybugs were sent to protect a community's crops from small insects which would otherwise destroy or blight the crops.
This later grew to folk beliefs that aphids protected the community from evil or that their divine connections brought luck and could be asked to do things typically asked of the gods like requests for prosperity and love.
For Sailor Ywain's first two attacks, I tried to use the "protection" symbolism of the ladybug combined with the imagery of a ladybug's spots to create traps. While the inspiration was from traps which protect an artifact or castle, these traps just impede.
For Sailor Ywain's Eternal attack, I wished to make the "divine intervention" aspect a little more blatant, having a swarm of ladybugs form a "fist of god" in the sort of way you see bees behaving in more slapstick cartoons.

Hey Verithe!
I think Ruby's civ stuff is well and ready, she's adorable, and so is her Senshi design, but I do need some clarification on the Senshi side!
(YAY CORRUPTS, THO.)
First, I do need a set time for how long Ywain's spots last - I'd say 25 seconds is fair at Regular, and 30 at Super. Also, rather than just "one round," I do need a specific time that the ladybugs hold the person in place! (Again, I'd suggest 25/30 seconds. c smile
In addition, how many times per battle can she use her attacks?
Quote me once you've made tweaks and I shall return<3

Thank you! I added the suggested time limits and added the number of times she can use each attack.

Verithe, this concept is super cute! The civilian side definitely checks out, and I have just a few questions for her powered side! I think the attacks are really neat, so for the basic and super attack, when the person is trapped by ladybugs, are they able to defend themselves if someone tries to attack? Do the ladybugs just prevent them from moving outside the three foot diameter/prevent others from attacking? (I just want to make sure since attacks holding a character still/making them unable to defend themselves can only last for about fifteen seconds, so I just wanted to know how you were imagining this! It would be totally fine if the ladybugs kept them trapped in the circle as long as they could still at least slightly defend themselves!). Second question—for her eternal attack, how long does the sensation of being crushed last for/how long is the duration of the attack?
And, I think that's everything! If you make any changes or have any questions or comments, please quote me and I will be back asap!

It makes sense to me that victims of the first two attacks would be able to defend themselves against other magical and mundane attacks while trapped. (Unless a character were to be too grossed out by the ladybugs to notice an attack coming, but that's a player choice and not a construct of the attack). I changed the wording of the first attack to clarify this. I believe the second one is worded in such a way that the clarification can be assumed to carry over. I had imagined that the third attack be instantaneous, not having a time period. But....that's not quite making sense to me with the whole thing being an illusion. Would it make more sense/be permissible for some actual damage to be dealt instead?

Sounds good for the first two attacks, and for the eternal it is also possible for some actual damage to be dealt! It could be enough to knock them off their feet, cause some bruising, etc—just as long as the attack isn't enough to do severe damage (or hold them in place for too long!) I think it would be fine to actually make a real impact! If you would like to hash out ideas or draft something, I'm more than happy to look over things or answer any questions!

I finally got around to fixing up the Eternal attack. Does it look alright? I also added some footnotes - particularly to clarify that the ladybugs are magical constructs and not living insects.
