Science Fiction || Yes, Tali loves scifi. Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune...hell, even old scifi b-movies. She eats it up with absolute glee! Once upon a time, she dreamed of being a science fiction author herself, and although that sort of fell through when she discovered her love for programming, she still enjoys watching good science fiction movies and TV shows and occasionally attending conventions when she can.
Gaming || Tali loves gaming - primarily RPGs and puzzle-oriented games. She mostly plays on her PC, but she also has a 3DS and a PS3 (and is eagerly awaiting the launch of the PS4). Besides video games, she also enjoys tabletop gaming, primarily of the sci-fi bent. Even in D&D, she's more likely to play a psionic than a wizard, because that's where her interests lie. And yes, she has played Mass Effect - and it amuses her to no end how alike she and Tali'Zorah vas Normady are. She even takes it off the table and into the field - Tali is part of a LARP group that primarily does scifi-oriented games and often goes to conventions in cosplay and in-character.
Coding || As one might expect given her profession, Tali rather enjoys mucking about with computers. She codes in her off hours, and is working with some friends to build a game from the ground up. It's hard work, but it's rewarding, as far as she's concerned.
Virtues:
Responsible || If Tali has something to do, she will do it. It's important to her to do things to the best of her ability, and to keep up with what is required of her. It helps make her a good teacher, and a good person to rely on in general.
Modest || Tali is not one to boast or brag, or to lord her accomplishments over others. She prefers simply to do her work as best she can, and shies away from the spotlight. For her, there is a reward in itself to getting something done, and never mind if it impresses someone else or not. Praise isn't a reason to achieve - achievement itself is the reason.
Curious || Tali is forever seeking new knowledge. The pursuit of learning is never over, as far as she's concerned. There's always something else out there to know, some new discovery being made - and so she endeavors to broaden her horizons as much as she can and as often as she can. She can often be found with a book or watching a documentary or flipping through someobscure journal to find the latest and coolest research out there!
Flaws:
Fastidious || Tali likes things neat and organized - perhaps a little too neat and organized. She gets thoroughly upset if her things are out of order, and messes send her into a tizzy. A place for everything and everything in its place - always no exceptions. Besides that, she often gets lost in the details of a thing and forgets to look at the big picture.
Reserved || Learning to speak in front of a class was a huge challenge for Tali, who has always been very shy and quiet. She's still that way in most settings, and has quite a bit of trouble asserting herself if it's not on the LARP field or in her own classroom. Those are the only two places where her shell really cracks. Anywhere else and she's like as not to simply sit in a corner and fidget uncomfortably.
Self-Deprecating || Tali is not particularly good at taking compliments, to an almost annoying degree. She will brush off any praise and deny her accomplishments, no matter how big or small. It's very hard on people who want to thank her for a job well done or complement her work. She will even talk herself down, deny her skills, and generally paint a far more negative picture of herself than is necessary.
