∼Personality: Alex is very shy around new people but still a soft-spoken person around those he knows. He is very down to earth and quick to help others. His personality changes when he uses large amounts of magic - he becomes louder and more aggressive, with a golden glow that makes it appear like his magic is trying to leap out of him. He is generally unaware of these changes and others rarely question it because most quiet fighters cannot bare the destructive forces of the source. He works as a freelance magic-user but generally works with Lizard rather than on his own.
~Magic: Alex's magic level rivals that of the strongest magic-users (which are usually elves). He genuinely has no idea how he got such powerful magic but he makes the most of it, enrolling in magic academies and learning as much as he can. His strongest element is water, able to control it with barely a thought followed by fire which takes only slightly more concentration. Although he has all of this magic, the only person he is able to telepathically communicate with is Lizard. He has asked her numerous times if she knows why but she never answers.
Alex rarely fights with any weapons, feeling perfectly comfortable with his magical abilities. Lizard has trained him with a sword in case of emergencies but he refuses to carry one with him. He does, however, carry two orbs in a pouch on his belt. One, when crushed will immediately teleport Lizard to his side in a flourish of blue petals while the other will summon a single weapon of his choice to his hand. When surrounded by enemies, Alex has been known to mold water or fire into the shape of a whip.
∼Summons: Because he cannot understand his summons, he often communicates with a series of snaps and whistles. Alex's most common summon is a large golden eagle named Balthazar that he's often seen riding on. He made a pact with this eagle when it was very young so they are both very loyal to one another. With Alex's magic, Balthazar can change from the size of a baby chick to more than five times the size of an average eagle.
∼Outfit: His regular outfit consists of a black wifebeater, black pants, and black boots. He wears a heavy dark blue (▉▉▉▉) with gold trim (▉▉▉▉) cape that can protect him and one other person if needed from the elements. The cape has a gold clasp in the front that has gold chains that connect to three blue gems on his left shoulder.
He has armored gloves to keep his arms safe when using his magic in a battle. The metal and straps is a dark silver (▉▉▉▉) and the gloves are black. He always carries around his golden (▉▉▉▉) utility belt which contains many mysterious items. It has a light blue (▉▉▉▉) piece with numerous gems. A large one with three smaller ones that each have tear drop gems attached. He has a small gold (▉▉▉▉) hoop earring on his right ear. Many see his dark look and assume he is a physical fighter, making him less of a target to enemies who want to take out magic-users first and foremost (which he claims was his idea and not Lizard's).

Other Outfits
On his own, Alex rarely changes his outfit, but whenever he goes on a mission with Lizard he has to change his appearance as well.
Alex grew up in a simple home with two loving parents. He was very quiet and calm, with the 'patience of a saint' as his mother always said. He had a good relationship with both of us parents but had few friends because of his shyness. He would let others walk over him without protest, too soft spoken to say anything in protest.
His parents were unable to provide much for their household so Alex quickly learned how to get by with as little as possible. He would help his parents as much as he could so he didn't have much of a childhood. He never resented his parents for that though.
When he turned 16, Alex moved out and began traveling around the world, sending what he could back to his parents to help them. As a human with no magical abilities, there wasn't much Alex could do other than normal household chores but he didn't complain. Even as he got older and had more worldly experience, he remained quiet and shy. To this day he says the bravest thing he's ever done is approach Lizard at that river...
Relationships
Lizard: Alex and Lizard have been in a romantic relationship for more than half their lives. While they met as teens their relationship didn't become sexual until they were in their twenties. They eventually tried to have a child but when nothing came from it they both became convinced they were infertile. Lizard eventually had it confirmed that it was she who was unable to conceive but won't tell Alex because she knows it would make him feel even worse about the situation. Lizard's parents were very upset with their relationship, so when they found out the two weren't going to have a child, they were furious.
Lizard and Alex quickly decided to start traveling together. They went all over the place before eventually deciding to enhance their abilities - Lizard went to a ninja school while Alex went to a magic school. They were both there for several years, only meeting occasionally, before they both finished. They were together for decades until Alex was approached by an elf on a mission and was told that Lizard must be getting tired of him. Alex took this to heart and starting being more distant to Lizard, thinking that's what she wanted. Lizard assumed Alex was pulling away since it's widely believed that humans have such a short lifespan because they can only love one person for a short time. They drifted apart and started traveling separately for several years.
The two reunited when Alex summoned Lizard in a dangerous situation. Lizard immediately lent a hand and requested Alex's help in return on a mission. The two started traveling again but didn't go right back into their relationship. As they slowly got closer together, they ran into Lexi and her group. The large group started traveling together and the two eventually got back together after realizing they were both mistaken and still madly in love.
History:
Alex says he's been traveling with Lizard for as long as he can remember. He'll glance to the side when asked further and responds with saying they met many years ago and clicked immediately. They've been partners every since...
After leaving a particularly long day of work, an 18-year-old Alex started walking through a forest where he got lost. He walked for almost two hours before hearing the sound of rushing water - and splashing. Upon first seeing Lizard, who was naked and slowly turning in a river with the water reaching her belly button, he almost instantly fell for her. He wasn't able to take his eyes off her so he began to step closer to the clearing by the edge of the river.
Alex, not realizing Lizard was an elf and therefore had amazing hearing, didn’t think to avoid stepping on leaves and sticks. When Lizard turned and caught his eye, they simply stared at each other. Alex eventually worked up the courage to step closer, keeping his eyes on Lizard. When he saw her turn and begin to move away he immediately started to strip off his black boots, white muscle shirt, and black pants.
Alex quickly made his way to the water in only his boxers and slowly walked closer and closer to Lizard. He eventually stopped with only a foot between them, his eyes still locked on Lizard’s. After a few moments, he quietly told her she was beautiful. When he saw Lizard blush, turn her head away, and cover her chest, he smiled brightly.
After a brief moment, Alex raised one of his hands and touched the side of Lizard’s face, softly turning her to face him again. He smiled softly at her when she refused to look up at him then slowly let his hand move from her cheek to her shoulder, continuing to move down her side to rest on her waist. He visibly gulped and whispered quietly, “I never believed in love at first sight…”
Alex watched Lizard intently as she immediately looked up at him, her eyes wide with shock. He smiled at her, too nervous to say or do anything else, his heart pounding in his ears. As his nerves continued to rise, Lizard eventually began to smile as well and spoke to him for the first time in an equally quiet tone, “I didn’t either.”
Instead of calming down, Alex’s heart started beating even faster.

Lexi: Alex and Lexi often relate on how they started as humans with no magic but have since become quite powerful - without their knowledge: Alex got hold of his magic shortly after he and Lizard got together, and Lexi fully believed she was going to die when the incubus bit her. While the two get along, they always make sure to stay at least three feet away from each other just in case.
Eloven: Alex and Eloven got along fine to begin with but became sort of rivals when Eloven realized how much magic Alex had. They both tend to show off when the other is around, trying to figure out who has more powerful magic. While they would never actually fight one another, they get extra-aggressive when Lizard is around because she remains silent when asked who is better. Lizard simply rolls her eyes and walks away from them, shaking her head.
Ellie: Alex and Ellie are much closer than most people think. They both have memories that stretch about a thousand years into the past and prefer to focus on the non-violent times. While they don't talk to each other very much, the conversations they do have are often very meaningful and uplifting. Ellie is much more likely be calm when Alex is around, she's said that something about his magic and his presence help her to think straight.
Sapphira: Alex has tried to get Sapphira to join him and be one of his familiars but she always refuses because she cannot remember him. He tries to convince others with the magical ability to take on familiars to take her on but so far no one has gotten through to her.
Xadriana: Alex is very jealous of Xadriana but he tries his hardest to hide it. He avoids her when he can and avoids looking in her direction when he can't avoid her (which is usually when Xadriana is traveling with the group since she stays close to Lizard at all times). If Lizard weren't involved, Alex knows he and Xadriana would get along fine.
Cyn: When Alex and Cyn first met, they laughed over how they were both much taller than everyone else. When the group was attacked, Lizard immediately reacted by disappearing and reappearing to take out their enemies and Alex started using his magic. Cyn started insulting both of them after the fight ended and Lizard appeared in front of Cyn and slugged him. She held a sword to his throat and threatened him in quiet, angry voice, letting him know that if he ever insulted Alex again it would be the last thing he said. Cyn continued to insult other magic users but toned it down as time went on.
After Cyn learned to fight with Lizard, he got past his grudge against Alex being a human with magic. They became friends but Alex often feels uncomfortable remembering how Cyn used to treat him.
Cira: It wasn't until quite some time after the group initially formed that Alex and Cira spoke. Cira was very surprised to learn that Alex was a human - she could sense his vast amounts of magic and assumed he was a half-breed. They both became very interested in the others' magic when Alex learned Cira could use healing magic. While Alex tries to teacher Cira elemental magic, Cira tries to teach him healing magic (unfortunately, they're both completely terrible and slow learners).
Rika: Alex was immediately drawn to Rika when he realized she was so young and human. He sympathized with her difficult childhood and, like Lizard, often saw her as a daughter. He would watch out for her and laugh at how overprotective Lizard was (though he always approved). While he was heartbroken when Rika was killed, he was the first to forgive Lizard. He spent weeks telling her that it wasn't her fault and that Rika wouldn't want her to blame herself either. While Alex himself doesn't believe in reincarnation, he can't help but feel that the fox Erika really is Rika in her second life.
Hannah: Unlike Lizard, Alex wasn't as close with Hannah as he was Rika - until after Rika's death. Alex was an acquaintance of Hannah through Rika so he only knew her through watching over Rika. After losing Rika, Alex and Hannah became friends and helped each other through their grief. While Alex is convinced no one could ever replace Rika, he will often treat Hannah how he used to treat Rika.
Anna: Alex met Anna through Lizard shortly after they left their respective schools. All of his conversations with her have been very limited though - usually he just listens to Lizard and Anna talk.
Cindy: Alex gave up trying to talk to Cindy once he realized her attention span wouldn't last more than a few minutes. He'll often watch Lizard try to talk to her with a small smile.
Kristoffer: Alex and Kristoffer are very close friends. They met shortly after Alex and Lizard finished in their respective schools and hit it off immediately. They both care about Lizard and will do anything to protect her. They both enjoy teasing her about her height though.
Naomi: Naomi was the first Elemental Spirit that Alex met when placed under a magical trance at the Magic Academy he attended. While at first Naomi scoffed and mocked Alex, the two continued to meet and Naomi warmed up to him as his magic control increased. They eventually entered into a contract so Naomi became one of Alex's Familiars. He is able to summon her at will and she can force summon herself if she senses he is in danger. The two enjoy messing with one another - Naomi sets him on fire, Alex douses her in water, nothing that the other can't handle of course.
Zefirino: Alex doesn't even bother trying to hide his disdain for Zefirino. He does his best to stay away when Lizard and he dance but once they're finished (or have been dancing for too long in his opinion), he will immediately make his way over and pull Lizard away. Alex usually only speaks to Zefirino in one-word sentences.
Veera: Alex and Lizard were traveling together when they came across Veera. The three rarely talk about how they met because Veera was hiding out in an isolated, frozen cavern and was slowly slipping into madness. She had killed everyone that had come in previously but Alex's magic calmed her enough that she could think straight. Instead of being devastated by all the dead bodies around her, she focused on Alex's magic. They quickly formed a contract and Veera whisked off to the spirit world.
Veera started helping Alex with his water magic and was not disappointed with how easily he could manipulate water. She was disappointed with his lack of skill with ice magic and was humiliated by how he could do nothing with fog. Although she really cares about Alex and does her best to hold nothing against him, she tends to get upset with how he can't watch her fight, cringing whenever he accidentally turns to see.
Sam: Alex was extremely uncomfortable around Sam for the longest time since Alex clearly hated him. The two gradually became friends and Sam helped Lizard's parents accept the two's relationship. Alex is happy to call one of Lizard's best friends a friend of his own and enjoys hanging out with the two. He loves watching them interact, finding it very amusing how loud Lizard gets when talking to Sam.
