Roland stood on the edge of a cliff side facing off to the ocean, beaches where off limits but here the beach was more like a giant drop off a sharp rock into the sea and no one was about to hang out here. At least not intentionally.
He was sporting an offensive harness, waiting by the shore as he had been doing lately hoping to catch sight of another titan.
<< You know wanting to fly like that is dangerous >>
"Yeah but it was kind of awesome in a way I can't really describe." He shrugged his shoulders checking his straps one more time. "Maybe I'm crazy, but it just felt... powerful? Even I was hurtling towards a giant insanity beast..."
He wasn't aware anyone at all might wander by.

Nevada had only been walking by when she saw the male hunter staring off into the sea. Though she recognized the harness, she did not recognize his intent and jogged over.
"Hey there Handsome, It's a little close to the edge there don't you think?"

Roland was still standing near the edge of the cliff, he knew over use of the tanks would get pulled from the Mist budget, and Aria would have a field day with him once Candace was done giving him a once over for abusing the equipment.
He was still debating a small jump when someone spoke behind him. Handsome. It was always Handsome. He looked over his shoulder too her, a smile, warm, then faded into nothing as he looked back to the sea.
"Trust me. I've made far worse choices then standing here."

She blinked, coming to stand by him. She had seen a smile and then a brush into something else.
"I don't think this would be the better of the worse choices..." She came closer, until she was at his side, looking out to the ocean. "Well this is a better view than the towns..."
She covered her eyes.
"Are you new handsome?"

His smile was gone replaced by a distant look out to sea, he didn't seem uncomfortable around her, almost the opposite, so familiar yet so far away was how he felt.
"Nope. I've been here a while." He tapped his jackets collar, "Intermediate even." Still he shrugged, "Views nice, but like I said, I've made much worse choices. Here? I'm just waiting."

"Wow, How did I miss you?" She smiled at him, "My name is Nevada, Mist intermediate."
She laved her hands together, giving him a lazy smile. "What kind of choice would you think of worse? What are you waiting for?"

That was the part that hurt the most, she hadn't missed him at all, she had simply forgotten him. "Roland Taft. Also mist."
He looked over that smile, he looked back to the sea. "I drove someone away by making the wrong choice, by waiting too long. I don't know. But it was the wrong choice." He pointed out to the distance a figure moving far off shore.
"A reason to be busy, to fight, something to do." Run away from all the problems.

Her smile froze, and though he said his name, and though she was looking at him.
Nothing came to her mind.
Absolutely nothing.
"Stormy told me about you. But not much. She said we had history, but I don't know what."
She blinked again, staring off into the sea.
"Wrong choices are hard, but we learn from them." She didn't know why, but she felt uncomfortable. He knew her, she didn't know him. How?

The mood iced over, the smile grew more forced, confused even, his own gaze still on the ocean, sad, sympathetic. Stormy was right, she remembered nothing at all.
"It was complicated. Doesn't matter much now though." Still he watched the sea a figure fading in the water, the Titan didn't rise for now. "Yeah I've learned I guess, but I haven't, I can't really do anything with it but hope I don't make a mistake another time."

"I wish you would tell me." She moved to touch his arm, "So I don't walk around the Island wondering why I've forgotten." She lifted her face to his, changing at from her own confusion to surprise.
"A mistake another time?" She leaned back down gnawing her lip. The harder she thought about it, the more confused and upset she got. Why did she forget him? What had happened?
"Was I....that mistake?"

His eyes dipped down from the horizon out at the sea, down to the dirt and the edge of rock, the edge of the small little Island that was their home and world. A small rock on a large stone but all they had.
"I don't know what, or why it happened, why you forgot that is." He didn't shy away at all from her touch as he continued to look down before watching the horizon once more.
"You where the best thing that ever happened to me. I'm not sure if I was wrong, or if you where, but it ended. And I did, and said, some things I'm not proud of."

"I don't understand." Nevada clenched her hand tight in his clothing before letting go. "I don't understand this."
She made a frustrated sound and moved back from him.
"If we skirt around these things, I won't know why. I can't remember anything. I've already made Stormy upset, losing memories of meeting her. Because they are tied to you." She gave a frustrated strangled sound.
"Why do you get to remember when I forget?" She accused, "How come if, I didn't want them, everyone else gets to have them?" She hissed. "If I didn't want those memories, then no one else should get to have them."

He didn't struggle in her graps, Roland simply stood his ground watching the horizon feeling his heart wind tighter and tighter in his chest as she finally let him go. His heart didn't stop twisting.
"We dated." He said simply moving to scratch his cheek for a moment. "I don't know, how much I effect, if you remember Tuck, Tuck and Heidi," he paused for a moment.
"I don't know either, we think, it was something strange when the sky opened up and the world was distorted. I was scared, I was greedy, I stayed behind and tried to keep everything I had, my memories, my life even."
There was a long silence, "You cheated on me." He said it quietly his head tilting to the sky, "When I found out, I lost it, I hit you. With my weapon. It was so sudden, so violent. I regret it. But the things you said to me. It hurt Nevada, it hurt more then you could imagine, and now you can't remember it. Stormy said it to me not too long ago. Maybe it's for the better, so we could have a second chance to be friends, or something."
His gaze shifted sadly to her, "But it seems not remembering is just as painful as knowing it all."

She stopped, facing the ground away from him.
"We dated?" Really? Roland didn't strike her as her type, and she had been rejected by Otto and Tuck. If she dated him, why would she-
"I cheated on you........" Her mind was like a whirlwind, sucking what he said in but not processing it. "No."
She looked at that sad look, and felt a pang of guilt. She had caused that look. But she couldn't even remember why.
"No." she said again, tilting her chin up. "I don't believe this s**t. I wouldn't cheat." She hissed, "If we dated, then I cared about you. And if i cared enough to date you, then I wouldn't ruin it by cheating on you." She shook her head. "This is all bullshit. Maybe when Stormy said I had history with you, she ******** something else." The more she thought about, the more panic rose.
If she had cheated on someone, why wouldn't she want to forget?
"I'm not listening to this anymore. This was a mistake." She turned away, "A ******** conspiracy, whatever history we ******** and utter bullshit."

"You where in a bad place. You where waiting for your sister to wake up. I never really got a clear reason why you did it. Half of what you told me was a lie to drive me away and it worked." He shrugged watching her turn away from him.
The look of sadness was turning to pity, a look of hopelessness as he watched her self destruct and fall apart. "No, what Stormy said was true. It wasn't like that." He made a passive gesture, "You still have a key I bet, one you don't know what it's for. It was to my room."
He watched her go shoulders sagging slightly, a tired look in his eyes, "It wasn't bullshit to me. You get to forget and I get to suffer living through it." And now this he silently added to the list.
