Once again Winta was making a trek to Zena, however, this time her grandmother was sending her on an errand. It was extremely rare for Winta to leave home at the request of Zoan but if the old woman was sending her all the way to Zena then there must be something she really needed. Armed with a list, thicker boots and coats Winta had arrived at the edge of Coeld. It was a new destination for her and while the experience was thrilling she'd rather be in ---- visiting Ruelash. Of course that meant her task would be done last minute, if at all, and she could possibly incur the wrath of Zoan. Not that she hadn't done all that and more before. Winta winced a little. Considering there was an impending war she should at least make the attempt to be a good granddaughter--or at least temporarily fit Zoan's definition of one.

"My toes are frozen." She announced to herself before taking a moment to admire the frost that was covering the top of her boots. They were of her own creation but with everything she made, there was room for improvement. They weren't very good at keeping warmth in for example. On her journey to Coeld, Winta had made the mistake of taking a less traveled path and found that it was covered in a thick, fresh layer of snow. Needless to say, death had been a close friend during that route. Thankfully it had been kind enough to spare her. The next time she attempted that though she probably wouldn't be so lucky. "I should have Ruelash teach me some survival skills." Winta placed a hand on her hip and finally took a look around. Focus on the task at hand! She thought to herself before pulling out the list her grandmother had given her. "I wonder where I can find these."

Liira's home in Coeld was the inn her parents ran. Well, to be frank, her mother ran the inn, her father was a bit preoccupied with his fur trading, trying desperately to get his business into a fur empire and attempting to drag Liira down with him. Goodie.

She had just bundled up in her coat and boots, getting ready to venture out into the Zenan snow, and yelled out to her mother as she left. "I'll be outside."

She entered the brisk air and stomped her boots, her typical habit for getting used to the chill. The vibrations from the wooden porch seemed to knock her around enough to get some blood flowing, or at least that's what she'd told herself. She'd been doing it for as long as she could remember and she wasn't about to stop now, especially on the off chance that it worked. She was just heading down the main street that her house was perched on when she spotted something that just didn't belong. Some busty Talan girl seemed to be freezing her hide off in the snow. Well, she looked ill equipped to handle it, her boots only looked like they were thrown together and the breeze could go right through them.

She was looking down at a list and mumbling to herself. Well, this probably isn't good. But something in Liira, maybe she was just feeling nice that day, had her moving towards the girl. What else did she have to do today, right?

It was the soft crunch of footsteps behind her that finally caught Winta's attention. She wasn't very observant when her thoughts were concentrated on one thing which was mostly weapons. That made sense. Being distracted by a shopping list? Not so much. When Winta turned she was pleasantly surprised to see a female earthling approaching her. She'd encountered other earthlings during her visits to Zena but she'd only met one girl before. It had made her wonder if there were few females up this far. Not that the possibility wasn't too far out of reach even now. Not that it made sense.

Winta pushed out her thoughts and smiled at the girl approaching her. "Um, hello." She greeted, then let her smile drop but still making sure to keep a open and friendly expression just to keep the girl from running away. Upon closer inspection Winta realized that the girl was most certainly dressed in warmer, thicker clothing items. Yep, she had a long way to go before she could travel without the fear of freezing to death in the mildest of climates in Zena. Now she had a goal to reach when she got back to Tale. "Can you tell me where the market is? I've never been here before and everything is. . ." Winta struggled to find a word to describe both the landscape and small settlement. Instead she just left all the unsaid thoughts hang in the air. Seemed like a better idea.

Liira attempted to smile back at the girl, if only to be nice, but it turned out to be sort of sour looking. She wasn't one for pleasantries really. "Hi..." Her answer was short, just about as short as her smile, and being so close now she couldn't help but think that she had been right about the boots... and her coat... and her whole outfit. She obviously didn't come out here too often. But then again, being in Tale was just about the complete opposite of being in Zena. The thought of the hot, dry air was almost enough to get Liira to start sweating right there in the snow.

The girl asked about a market and she almost laughed. Well, she had been to Tale, and knew that there they pretty much had an open market, a pretty decent system with a lot of open air stalls and vendors all put together in a bunch. Zena was much too frigid for that. Winta was pretty much at the market. They had a "main street" with two rows of buildings on either side that had all of their vending needs. Lucky for her, Coeld was also the largest trading town in Zena besides Zidel. "You're standing in it." Was her response. The buildings didn't have much for signs, and the signs that they did have were buried in snow most of the year.

She reached down into her heart and brought up just enough compassion to feel for the near shivering girl in front of her. "What're you looking for? If you're looking for someplace to sit out of the snow, we've got that too." She offered, kind of alluding to the thin clothing the girl was wearing. Meh, Liira thought to herself, she was a believer in karma, and helping this girl out would probably boost that junk way up there.

Considering the lack of niceties on the girls end Winta didn't seem to notice, or care, but then again when you were friends with a grumpy guy like Ruelash it seemed to make sense. However, at Liira's response Winta's eyes widened slightly and she did a quick sweep of the area. "Here?" She asked before turning her attention once more to the girl in front of her. This was it? Winta knew that a lot of towns weren't quite as busy as some of Tales but this seemed to be. . . Well sad in comparison.

The cold air felt like it was turning her limbs to stone and that if it picked up she would shatter. It was not something she was proud of but she was from Tale. Extreme heat to extreme cold was a huge difference. "Well I was looking for some of these items." Winta gestured to the list in her hand, shivering a bit. "I think maybe getting out of the cold for a little bit might be a good idea though." She laughed a little. "It's just a bit chilly up here!" It was a poor attempt at a joke but at least it was something. "I'm Winta."

The girl seemed to take Liira's sourness in stride, and she had to say, it was starting to put a smile on Liira's face. "Hey, don't knock it. Would you want to stand out in the snow hawking wears? It's a lot busier than you think around here." At least her mood wasn't so sour now. Maybe this girl would make a good... acquaintance? Friend was a weird word, but acquaintance would work.

Liira looked down at the list that Winta held up and looked back up to the girl. "Well, you can find all of that on this street, so no worries there." She laughed at the girl's joke and at her shivering, not being able to help herself for taking a little bit of humor in this girl's troubles. "My name's Liira. My parents own the inn right down the way. You can come in if you'd like..." Liira dragged her last word out, eyeing Winta again. "... and maybe see about getting you better clothes." Liira laughed out again, puffs of breath visibly leaving her mouth.

It was cold here, that she wouldn't begrudge Winta, and it was winter, so that was worse. It had Liira wondering what it was that she had to come out here now for.
