Daniel Sonnen whistled a lively tune, a packed picnic basket in one hand, and a small bouquet of slightly wilted tiger lilies in the other. He was whistling to try and work off his nerves, as he was going to ask Gloria out to a picnic dinner. To be honest, he didn't know if she liked him back at all (he could never tell when a girl liked him or not), but he worked up enough nerves to attempt to ask her out, but he was questioning what he was going to do with the dinner he had prepared if she did reject him.
His whistling stopped mid-tune, suddenly worried as to what he was going to do if she did reject him. His mind was suddenly running images of Gloria's smiling face as she rejected him in her lively musical voice. He supposed Oh God, how was he going to live with himself if he embarrassed himself in front of her like that?! And the food! What was he going to do with all the food he made for the occasion if he was rejected?! "No, no!" he shook his head vigorously, trying to get the images out. He wasn't going to worry about the what-ifs and the potential rejection scenarios, not now at least!
Dan's walking slowed as he neared the cafe; it was near closing time. He peeked through the large windows, wondering what Gloria was doing at this time. He hastily shoved the lilies in the picnic basket the best he could without trying to wilt and damage them even more than they already were (which didn't prove to be too successful). He wiped his sweaty palms on his jeans, and quickly checked himself in the window's reflection. He had attempted to dress as best he could - a light brown thin wool v-neck sweater worn over a white button-down with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows (he was feeling a little hot from his nerves), his best (and cleanest) pair of dark blue jeans, and brown loafers (that he had polished so they would look their best!). Satisfied and proud with his look, he took a deep breath and swung open the cafe door.
Upon entering the cafe, Dan realized he didn't plan out what he was going to say. "Uh...crap.", he muttered, and rubbed the back of his neck stupidly.
